what the hell, you can only nominate a game once in the Steam awards? So if it's my goty and my favorite looking game, I gotta choose?
dumb. dumb dumb dumb
They always do it this way and it vexes me every time.
I forgot they did, or I didn't have a game I really wanted to nominate for multiple categories. It's silly.
semi-related: does anyone know/have the link to one of the "meanwhile at Valve hq" memes where it's a bunch of black dudes in gangster-aesthetic waving money, on a rooftop I think?
I can't figure out what to nominate for "Better with Friends" or "Innovative Gameplay"... nothing I've played that also released in 2021 seems to fit. Open to suggestions!

Man, I bought/played almost none of the games released this year. And I can't nominate Deltarune Chapter 2 for the best soundtrack award because it's still listed as a demo and not a game that's actually come out.
Yes, Pathfinder WOTR, Devour is more fun to play, go sit down and think about what you did.
same. i was looking through my steam library and i havent got a game that released in the last year other than adding the halo multiplayer thing a couple days ago. also it defaults to cyberpunk and halo for my game of the year choices... one has been out like 3 days, the other had one of the worst launches ever (not for me my computer ran it just fine) but also it released last december not this year.

I own exactly 4 games released in 2021. I have played none of them.
I don't find this any more surprising than last year when I only had the same amount of games with the same circumstance. I have more from 2020 now (16, in fact) due largely to subscribing to and then just letting Humble Choice hand around until it becomes more expensive because I'm seeing how worth it it is.
So far, I have even more games I don't play, but also potentially more gifting material for the silly season.

I've stopped buying (or accepting) new games. I already have more than enough, and I don't ever play most of them anyway.
("Then what are you doing in this thread?" you ask. Lurking and spectating, mostly. It's still entertaining and sometimes informative and/or inspiring.)
Anyone here have experience with Fire Pro on Steam? It's all on sale and I have the base game but I kept hitting wrestlers in the workshop that I couldn't use because I was missing the parts. Do I need all the DLC to prevent that from happening? Can I skip the move, entrance and parts creators if I only want to play other people's creations? Finally, if I want to run a mini fed do I need that promotor DLC?
So, do we think the stuff on sale now will be cheaper next month? Trying to decide to fill out my DLC for some of the games I have now or later.....
I'd check Is There Any Deal: if it's a new low, chances are it'll be the same price on winter. If it's not, then maybe? (unless it's an Activision game or something.)
Still playing Ruined King and it's so annoying having to go through so much intro stuff every time I start the game.
Then I remembered I'm playing a PC game and can skip all that nonsense by changing a few files. If there was ever anything to get me to play a PC version of a game over a console version, that would be it.

Apparently I only own one from 2021. That was only because @MNC Dover gifted me Annalynn. No, RetroArch, you do not count as a game.

Annalynn is one of those games that should be in everyone's game list, like Portal or Half-Life 2.

I bought Telling Lies, historical low price and all that
now I can finally huddle in my blanket and have Angela Sarafyan talk to me on a computer screen
World War Z was my best with friends nominee, the game is really really good for what could easily have been a cheap cash in on a title. Strongly suggest it for those who play l4d like games with friends.
CorriganX on Steam and just about everywhere else.
Any opinions on Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Ultimate Edition? Seems worth it for $8, but maybe it's the worst game ever made or something.
I love Lords of Shadow.
Never, ever play the DLC.
It's anime Castlevania narrated by Captain Picard. If that sounds interesting, it should be fun. (It's not quite a MetroidVania proper, though.)

The DLC for Lords of Shadow . . . I beat that shit. And it was shit, constant cheap one hit deaths and the final boss of the DLC was basically a "screw up once and die" kind of fight and a lot of just plainly unreasonable and unfun bullshit.
The game proper is a pretty good God-of-War/Castlevania hybrid. The Mirror of Fate game is also a fine "Metroidvania" that doesn't really hit the backtracking and large area exploration right away. It's far more like their most recent game, Metroid Dread, in that it leads you a good bit into the game before suggesting you check back around older areas.
Lords of Shadow 2 . . . I got near the end and just didn't have the will to go on. I really tried, I really did.

You definitely want to install the mod that allows you to scrub through videos/rewind/fast forward.
We all like looking at Kerry Bishe, but sometimes we're trying to skip to the important part of the video to solve a puzzle.

I've played a bit of it, but it was before all the big DLC came out, and I never ran into those types of issues where I didn't have the proper DLC for it. Though I think I own the DLC so that might be why.
Actually looking at it, I only own all the NJPW stuff and the Takayama charity DLC. I don't have any of the crafting DLC or the Stardom stuff.

Also, big news. Albert just emailed out that they're releasing 1.0 of RE4HD on 2.2.2022. So if you're itching to reply Resident Evil 4 like I am, just wait a few more months. The fixes look and sound amazing.

It takes two and inscryption.
EVERYBODY WANTS TO SIT IN THE BIG CHAIR, MEG!
But more infuriatingly, ATTACK OF THE EVIL POOP VR is not yet released so I cannot nominate it.

I had heard that despite the initial hot takes, it was actually pretty good, but I've never played it.

Shantae and Unsighted are on sale for me, but probably still too expensive. bravely default 2 and the Ruined king are most decidedly not on sale.
Also not quite steam, but the guild of dungeoneers is free on epic right now and its actually a kind of fun roguelike.

I have a lot of stuff that's 60-75% off but I promised my wife not to spend money this month, plus most of that is DLC.
