The three people on trial for killing Ahmaud Arbery have all found guilty of of murder (one of malice murder and the others of felony murder)

I dont have a full breakdown of the counts but that seems good, hopefully they wont get off on appeal or something

I think they're still facing federal charges, too.

Reminder that the authorities in the Arbery case tried their damndest to bury it, and the only reason his killers aren't walking free today is that one of the dipshits himself recorded and distributed that video which blew everything up. The former DA is still facing obstruction charges for it.

So a big congrats to William Bryan for helping you and your homies get busted to jail. You arguably did more for the state's case than the state itself.

They spent the better part of a decade getting the saying:

Anybody have any idea what's going on with this whole Kyle Rittenhouse thing? For those unaware after being acquitted he is now getting attacked by the far right for saying things like "I support BLM" and "I was railroaded and it would have been so much worse if I were a PoC".

    This is a grift I haven't seen.

He's off the hook at this point so now he's going to milk his murders for his whole life like Zimmerman. He's probably getting media coaching. He'll temporarily sacrifice a small portion of chud supporters to pick up more lib supporters (and do not doubt that he has lib supporters), it's easy to win the chuds back later by repeating their talking points. Expect to hear his name an annoying amount over the coming years, and do not be surprised if he wanders into politics

It's maddening how clear the line will be from this to "after trying it, I became disillusioned with teh left and..."

Fascism is socialism for the nationalists and genocide for everyone else. It just that it turns out who the nationalists are is completely up to the discretion of the fascists.

Socialism is when the Democrats do literally anything, just like how critical race theory is anything that mentions a non-white race

It's funny because there are all these brown people from former Soviet proxy states and soviet states that could tell you (vague right wingers) about living under a communist government. Pity y'all don't ask them with open ears and just instead shop ala cart for data that supports your viewpoints. Pretty sure the left does the safe with words like racism and nazi's but they are not the ones enabling medical debt that is crushing the middle class (lower class just dies)

Fascism is really hard to define in government terms because it's more like a religion or a worldview but I I think it's important to point out that the Nazis were not socialism for the in-group and genocide for everyone else. They were pretty hardcore capitalists when you get down to it.

There is a reason they got a lot of support from business owners after all.

Rohm, very doubtful. Neither one really showed any inclination towards that sort of familiarity.

It was more of a Stalin vs. Trotsky situation, with Rohm having massively tight control of the SA but thinking him and Adolf were actual friends (they were not). Hitler disposing of him and ordering the Night of Long Knives was a way to eliminate most of those most loyal to Rohm and anyone else not named Adolf Hitler, once the political pressure from the oligarchs was put on Hitler as Chancellor.

Worth noting that this is specifically the one in Charlottesville, VA, directly related to the Unite The Right rally of 2017

Not to be confused with the larger Lee statue in Richmond VA, which is finally having its concrete plinth torn down through this month

  • Mortal SkyMortal Sky queer punk hedge witchRegistered User regular
As an addendum to my last, I should note that there is actually some pro-BLM backlash here in Richmond because the protest art on the Lee monument's plinth is also being inevitably destroyed as part of the removal.

However, that land is also being returned to the city from the state, and VA state police brutalized a ton of people on that block (up to and including my own tear gassing), so, I'm of a couple minds about it I guess

Some ghoul has made and sold a set of George Floyd NFTs because of fucking course they have. Except maybe they're not real and it's "satire" but then we have to tap the "satire requires a clarity of purpose lest it be mistaken for and contribute to that which it intends to criticize" shirt. And maybe it's not trying to be satire and it's just real and I can't even fucking tell anymore.

    Oh brilliant

    Fuckin finally.

That eyesore was on the highway right up to Nashville, I'd see it every time. For the longest time, I thought it was a Commodore statue (being that Vandy is in the area). It wasn't until later that I learned it was a confederate soldier....and also ugly as shit (and yes, its ugliness is readily apparent from the highway, as long as you know to look)

I'm still torn. The existence of a statue that incredibly ugly almost feels more insulting to the "legacy" of that piece of shit than destroying it.

Any and all portraits of that guy should be physically replaced by a picture of that statue.
