Man the arcade mode is still not really working. I’m getting some rounds with a few people but most is still 1 other person. It’s just nuts I don’t understand how these modes don’t just pool the entire player base?
Managed to get it but yeah, still feels busted. The speed ones are a lot easier than the drift ones, I've noticed people pool up for those ones more too.

Unrelated video, had a fun match of infection. One of the rare times I wish I had set my xbox capture to record longer.

I've started mucking around with this game a bit while on vacation.

I am getting inordinately excited about the long tuning video considering that so far the extent of what I understand about customization is buying a Subaru and making it pink.

It's also surprisingly fun to see PA folks' usernames populating stuff.

I think you still have to get the car pass cars from the autoshow, they just don't cost you anything.

I was lucky that I hadn't 100%'ed the story mode stuff, so I could get that one pretty easily.

I also got SUPER lucky. I was doing arcade things with actual groups of people (shock, awe), and we did a Chaos arcade where we got through 2 of the 3 events in our time period. The last one was a mini challenge area that was just SO fucking far away from where the previous one was, and I knew we'd never complete it. Well afterwards, I hopped into a convoy and saw the next two options - drift and speed. I saw where the convoy leader was heading, and assumed he was going to speed and fast traveled there. When it was obvious that he was just doing donuts, I dropped out of the convoy. 2 other people were waiting at the speed spot, so we exchange pleasantries and wait.

Next thing I know, I'm starting up the speed arcade and it says "round 2 complete" -- and I'm like WTF? Further, the challenge already had like 1/3-1/2 the bar full. So I shrug, decide to go for it, and book across to the speed zones for the challenge. One of the racers follows me, then completely disappears, so I'm doing it alone. This makes no sense to me, but whatever. I think I can pull it off, as the speed zone was in a track where I could basically do loops and not really lose too much speed while going 100MPH each time through. So I push it. And lo and behold, I beat it! With like 5-6 seconds to spare I tack on the final # I need to beat the event... and it acts as if I've completed ALL THREE events! It gave me 60 FP, the accolades for pulling that off, and the seasonal progression.

Then, in quick succession, I get two "Event failed" messages out of no where. I assume those are the events I was "supposed" to be doing failing, but I didn't care. :D

A quick trip to Open later and some kingmaking, and...

    kPG6ZtQm.png

    4l27IJzm.png

    EovLNM8m.png

I will totally take bugs breaking in my direction. The only thing I can't complete is the Exploration daily, but if they fix that in the next couple days I can get it in. I'm not expecting it, with the holiday and all, but I can hope. :)

It's a shame I missed the DeLorean for now, but hey. At least I've gotten like 7 points towards it! >.<

Once I saw there was no way I was making the requirements in time, I just hit the auction house. Tons of them there.

On another note: anyone know if there's a way to change the color of the yellow highlights here? I just want them to be in orange.

@LBD_Nytetrayn in the paint car screen the option to hit X to change trim should be available for any paint job that can support it. I can't recall if it's called advanced or secondary but you should see the little blue button show up at the bottom of your screen if you can do it.

So for the Forzathon weekly challenge part 3 hope you've never taken a picture of your 2019 Porsche 911 Carrera S, it's got the same bug as the daily challenges with the expedition where if you've already completed the objective it won't register as being completed again. This is really frustrating

    Trials this week is rough

Unbeatable at s2 on a bunch of hyper fast roads where their insane grip and power advantage is really hard to beat

Edit: agh, I had it on my 3rd try but the guy in 4th dced right at the finish line and we lost by 50 points instead of winning by a couple hundred. So frustrating.

You can build cars to X999 for it, I did that with a Senna. I’m able to keep up but torpedoed two separate races by missing the second to last checkpoint… FML

Not aided by the fact that my teammates don’t realize we are on a team lol

Edit: ok I figured out the strategy, you have to drive the way assholes drive in normal online races, lob yourself into the first corner as fast as possible, do anything you can to even get next to the ai because they’ll lose a ton of time and even if you lose time you can push your teammates forward which gives you a chance to catch the ai eventually since they’re much worse when behind a person.

    What a dumb mode lol

It’s normally pretty cruisy but yeah right now I’ve tried a few times and it’s been a wash every time

Also I keep getting geometry disappearing issues in the desert area, and the volcano has disappeared on me a few times

Also what are season destructibles? I found the cactus one once but the last two season haven’t had any I could find

Ooof. Yeah. This hit me too, in the dumbest way. I bought one for 105,000 CR with the intentions of doing the challenges. I then start tooling around to get things checked off. In the middle, I notice it was nighttime and a pretty fireworks display was going off. So I snapped a pic to get the photo challenge done, no biggie. About 5 minutes later I realize I can't photograph the car for the series of events!

To add more insult to injury, there's no actual category called "High Rollers," so you can't really go searching for them easily in the auction house. This is kind of important, because if you just buy one, they start at like 1.5 million credits.

But hey, I did notice they added a filter for having snow tires equipped, even though it seems the volcano is the only snow-covered place at the moment!

Was grinding out some festival accolades (the drive from X to Y in under Z ones), and all of a sudden the entire group of challenges reset. Apparently this is not uncommon.

Between that, some accolades straight up being impossible to complete, and all those weird dailies that just don't work right, I'm wondering how the heck all this got through. None of this shit was a problem in FH4. At the very least, I was able to complete the entire Speed Champions board without several of them suddenly resetting for no goddamned reason.

My guess, honestly, is that their testing and QA process was done in such a way that new accounts were used for every test, rather than testing accumulation. Given the sheer number of accolades, it wouldn't surprise me if it were automated as well.

    Question about PI and classes:

Is it only upgrades/customization that affect your PI, or does tuning affect it as well?

I'm wanting to dip my toes into some basic tuning stuff and learn, based on those videos. I decided this "reasonably priced" Ford Escort would be a good starting point, so I bought some stuff that made sense for off-road -- though I am now seeing that most C class setups being recommended use stock tires instead of offroad tires. My first half race, it felt like I wasn't accelerating that fast. I suspect I need to get rid of the 10-speed transmission and get a bit closer to the 600 cutoff.

Only upgrades affect PI, tuning won't.

10 speed is probably too much for anything that’s not like s1 at least, especially in auto because I feel like it’s gonna really get confused with the gearing.

Yeah, I just saw that. Thanks to the drivatar bug, combined with the unbeatable stat of them.. it's brutal. We had an X, two S2's, and 2 B's. I was the only one who attempted the second race.

I think what really blows is like the race starts with the inhumans all in front too. So literally they start with an advantage and sometimes you can just write it off. And its only two races which surprised me they are normally like a series of 3 or best of 5 or something.

Though really if you are decent at racing if its down to you and you didn't get blown out in the first race you can win on the second one if you get ahead of some of them.

I also got my favorite link chat either for someone completely f'ing up in an eliminator and letting my vocho beat their porche "For me It was tuesday."

I think one of the things to keep in mind for those unbeatable weekly challenges is that you can win without ever taking first place provided your team is solidly in the middle of the pack. Originally I was griping that (in addition to "teammates" being assholes and driving me off the road) on points we were still in it but people kept leaving in droves. Luckily enough had left by the last race that our finish of 2nd and 4th got us 900 points to the drivatar 300. Which was enough to have us eke out the win.

Of course I'd also like people to look at the courses and maybe pick something non-stock that is suitable for 2/3 courses since it's really tough to build something dominant for all three.

The problem with those challenges is that there's basically no way to win unless most of your team quits. It took me 8 attempts this week, with me taking 2nd/3rd in almost every race and at least 3-4 people stuck in the last 4 positions for most of the races. The only way to win is to be 1) relatively good and 2) hope all the people who can't keep up quit so they're not giving the AI free points.

Me: Let's take out some B or A class cars to the Trial to lower the skill level of the drivatars, and maybe give some other people a chance to win.
Everyone else: Let's go 3 X's, 2 S2's, and have at least 1 driver drop before the race even starts.
Me, the last person still in the race: Hey, I beat a couple!

I think I've settled on S1 as my sweet spot. It's gonna be a push to get my points this week unless they drop a fix. I highly doubt I'll ever knock out 2 people in the Eliminator. I can't get the progression or the trial. And my speed trap and speed camera ones are both beaten, and I think I got points for them, but they haven't marked off as successful and I've hit 3 stars in both of them so I can't post a "Better" ranking.

Two people in eliminator just requires playing some eliminator and jumping people early. But I get its not everyones bag.

The speed trap and speed zone you've got the right cars right? Those should trigger without needing to hit a new pb or something.

I agree S1 is where I feel best, or even an A. I did a road race with normal drivatars on X and I had to rewind a bunch to eek a win, x just makes those fuckers ridiculous. Hilariously followed that up with D racing and that was whiplash. "Oh shit we're zooming its 80 miles an hour and I don't feel safe!"

I have a Porsche 918 I like a lot too but it feels unfairly good for me. It might be that I expect more drift than some cars give.me though.

The advice to brake earlier someone posted upthread has really paid off. Didnt realize how advantageous the extra speed on straights was from accelerating ASAP.

Okay, I did the Eliminator challenge and knocked out 3 opponents, which felt good. I didn't know what to expect, so finding out there was a 12 person sprint at the very end felt really, really cool. I had no chance though, judging by where everyone finished -- and the fact that I was pointing in completely the wrong way. I suspect that there's a blimp at the finish line that you can scout early? Not sure... Need to look up more about that game mode, because I want a Mini Coop. :D

Also, surprise of surprise, I was able to finish the Porche multi-stage one! I don't know why it didn't accept my picture earlier, but this time I put a bit of extra polish into it, including messing with some sliders and getting really up-close to the car. And it took it! So now I've unlocked all the cars for the current season, and the first of the overall seasonal cars! Woohoo!

On the speed trap/zone, it says both are complete when I look at them on the map, so I'm gonna assume the display is a glitch in the festival report. And... yeah. Not sure how hard I'm gonna push the trial or arcade stuff.

Man, it was fun tooling around in the giant lake/river area. I don't know if any of the default races go through there, but it's super cool to just have this really open lakebed that you can positively tear through available. It also got me my last point of interest, which turned out to be some XP instead of a fast travel sign. Still, getting closer! ... that is, until I noticed the 5,000 XP on the hotel balcony. I'm definitely gonna need to look these up on how to get them.

The hotel actually has two xp boards, one that's obvious from the jumping spot, the other is on top of the building next to the jump.

There's also an xp board hanging from one of the big power lines that took a lot of reverse abuse to finally hit that fucker but satisfying.

I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.

Eh... You can just buy a Mini Cooper, though? I did anyway, at least I'm pretty sure?
