    Happy Thanksgiving, fellow American kids!

I'm smoking a turkey for the first time. Please send me your thoughts and prayers that I do not screw it up.

Good luck! Smoking is the best way to cook a turkey, imo

Well unlike everything else we tried those on, your prayers actually worked. I would say it was a success! Daughter actually "liked" the turkey so win for sure.

1 cherry wood chunk, 2 pecan. Smoked in a Weber Smoker for about 3 1/2 hrs, less than I expected.

My parents inadvertently set their new LG oven to "Warm" (~150* degrees F) rather than "Proof" (~85* F) today and baked two of their three sourdough starter jars for over an hour at low temp

It turns out the resulting jar-sized dumpling was absolutely delicious though? So now we just have to get the third jar back from my aunt who borrowed it yesterday...

    :(

At least they had the extra jar to grow it back from.

    Happy Thanksgiving you wankers.

I'm having a white claw for the first time.

    It's not bad

Just for context, I'm at a friend's house for Thanksgiving.

Just me, my wife and a bunch of American people.

I've been informed that drinking white claw is getting "white girl drunk".

It was considerate of Macy's to give their furry customers representation right off the bat with those turkey ladies.

edit: I guess there' guys too, so even better. I just saw them talking to two ladies at the start.

Are they still called furries if it's a bird? Wouldn't they be called like... featheries? Downies?

Everything is still furry, but you can have specific names for subgroups (like scalies for lizards). Generally, if it's a joke name you would use for an animal (trash panda, birb, danger noodle) furries will also adopt it for their own category, because it's fun.

I posted this in the Thanksgiving thread, but I think it's sufficiently off for the bad food thread too.

On Friday, I made Thanksgiving leftovers waffles.
    8683-EF11-2245-474-B-974-B-51394-EEB936-F.jpg

Some bread/sausage/onion stuffing, mixed with some leftover root vegetables that cooked underneath the turkey. Mixed with a beaten egg for binder, and thrown in my waffle iron. The result was a shockingly well-formed waffle-shaped bit of leftovers. Which I topped with leftover turkey, because of course.

Turns out you can turn a lot of things into waffles, if you know what you're doing.

Fancy Chrimbo cocktails! The first is a blue champagne drink with some edible glitter that didn't photograph well, the second is a little Debbie cake drank.
