The Yet Unnamed PAX Pub Crawl

MonoxideMonoxide Registered User, ClubPA regular
edited August 2008 in PAX Archive
So I was convinced that I should go to PAX this August, and since I'm told it's not really feasible to cram a ton of PAXgoers looking to get drunk into a hotel room, I'm going to organize an open bar crawl.

The theory is that there's so many bars near the WSCTC that even if we get ridiculous Sealab-style numbers showing up, we'll be able to split into as many teams as needed, so everyone who wants to attend can.
New more updated information:
Monoxide wrote: »
So I made some changes to Doc's route just as an example of what we would have to do to make this work out.

This is on an 8:00PM to 2:00AM time schedule making a six hour full crawl, with two 3-hour mini-routes.

Full route
Pre-Dick's short route
Post-Dick's short route
(Note: I removed the Elysian for this example because 8 stops is one too many, but any other bar could be removed instead if that's more worthwhile)

If there's a big turnout, half of the people attending would be going backwards (Starting at Six Arms) and meeting up at Dick's in the center, so half-route people could choose a pass on either side, early or late.

That would basically make the schedule:
(X:XX XX - Group A / Group B )
8:00 PM - The Chapel / Six Arms
8:50 PM - The Stumbling Monk / Linda's
9:40 PM - Cafe Metropolitan / Barca
10:30 PM - Dick's --Midpoint. People leave/arrive.
11:20 PM - Barca / Cafe Metropolitan
12:10 AM - Linda's / The Stumbling Monk
1:00 AM - Six Arms / The Chapel
1:50 AM - Crawl ends/Last Call

Throw in some extra minutes for travel time because they aren't equal distances and it sounds like it could work

old OP:
Tentative time/date: Thursday night, sometime after the dinner or whatever.
Tentative locations: I don't know, I've never even been to Seattle.

And there's what I need help on. In searching around trying to do some research on this, I've found there's a pretty big handful of bars just west of the wsctc, but there's always the possibility that some of them are complete shitholes. So for those of you in the area, if you want to offer some suggestions or feedback, that would be awesome.

So far I've got the following that seem to be close enough to make a pretty decent route:
Blarney Stone Pub
Alibi Room
Amber
Sonya's Bar and Grill (No website - yelp page)
Whisky Bar
Nite Lite Lounge (No site, NWSource)
Kells Irish Pub
Shorty's
[strike]Crocodile[/strike] (er...I guess this disappeared, so that's out)
Lava Lounge
Rendezvous
Taphouse

Total: 11

If I had a say in it, Kell's.

Last year at PAX, both my friends, me and some guys we hung out with most of PAX. Went there on Sunday after the doors closed. The food was awesome, the servers was great and the atmosphere was calming.

I know you can also book parties there. And I believe it can hold up to around 100-200(maybe).

I'm so in on this. Bar crawls can be rather fun, and I have yet to see any of the Seattle ones.

There needs to be at least one shithole to stop at.

Also, the Elephant and Castle is a few blocks from the WSCTC and was pretty nice when we were there last year.

I'm with maradine about the Taphouse. Even I can find a beer I'll like there.

I'll add folks in search of some classy atmosphere and maybe something to eat with their booze should be happy with Taphouse and Sonya's. Taphouse is kinda business lounge, where Sonya's is pretty cute.

Perhaps the OP should be updated with the specifics on each bar as in if they have food, what time the kitchen closes, price range for food and booze, approximate capacity and how busy they are on a Thursday night. This might require some Seattle local field agents to do some recon. I know it's a big sacrifice, going to the bar on a Thursday to check it out, but I'm sure a few of you will step up to the responsibility.

I updated the OP with links to the bars websites if they have any, so most of that information should be available there. I can put it into the OP for reference sometime, but, not right now.

If you do that, you'll probably end up on the pub crawl anyway. Last year on our way to the movie, the crowd just kept getting bigger and bigger as we got closer. I can imagine this crawl will operate on many of the same principles.

Although I'm taking the train up, and it will more then likely get there late(11pm-1am). I would still be down for a few drinks. During the Div's Pre-PAX strut.

If anyone would be interested in doing a pub crawl in the u-dist I would be down. That way it will take me less time to crawl home after. :)

Let me know if anyone's down. It might be good to do a d-town one and a u-dist one.

We could start at Finn's, then Earls, then Pizza Mart, then Immigrant, then end @ Dante's.

I am looking forward to this perhaps most of all.

Well, actually it's the CCST most of all.

Well, actually it's the possibilty of being an Omeganaut most of all.

Well, actually it's the opportunity to hang out with tons of geeks who are into exactly what I'm into all weekend.

    Well, actually it's this.

OOoooo boy, I sure hope I can partake in this most wondrous of alcoholic events. I've been going to PAX since '06 but never really got into any of the "extra curricular" activities. I've always wanted, but never been attuned of their going-ons. Hopefully if my friends and I can get down there on Thursday we'll be all up ins.

Also, (kind of related as there's booze involved) do you guys know of any microbrewery tradings going on this year? My friends and I are from BC, Canada and don't mind bringing some of our local stuff down.

    We'll go there, too.

Closer to PAX I'll figure out how this is all going to work. If there's a massive place we can use as a meeting point and first location, that would be pretty rad. The plan really depends on how many people plan on showing up for this, though. We should be able to accommodate any amount, but the way the night works out will change as more people come.
