They've said a couple of times now that Guild Beta is a separate thing from the waves of invites normal beta folks are getting into. I think Guild Beta won't be happening until they push in all their living guild business. My guess is whenever the next coordinated push starts, we'll be seeing the first of the Guild Beta invites.
I'm itching for WAR so much that I'm tempted to buy WoW.
I did not enjoy WoW in any form in beta or when I tried it about 1.5 years ago. To be fair, though, I never got past level 10. It just didn't grip me in any way. I look at screenshots and think, that is some lovely geography if only I could see it through that massive clutter of UI crap.
But damnit, for some stupid reason, I want to try and give it a go...again.
I updated my dxdiag yesterday and today i got an invite. not sure if the two things are related but i thought i'd share that info with you.

Blah, I'm waiting until there is a definate release date for WAR, then I'll be putting in an order for one of those Blackbird PC's from HP that Tycho is talking up, or else I'm going to buy one of the x3500 IBM servers through work at a discount.
Unfortunately that means my DxDiag is not reflective of the computer I could be using, but I didnt sign up for beta either.
Is this how Warcraft people felt during the WoW early beta?
Nah, there was alot more information available about the WoW beta, and even though we were bound to an NDA, most of it was slipped out anyways. WAR's info has been fairly secure, especially since they re-booted beta and moved alot of things around, anything that was leaked is probably inaccurate at this point anyways.

Don't do it. It is an awful game.
its just the addiction of mmos, every single mmo you ever play does this. it just means you are an mmo junky like myself!
WoW is as good or as bad as you let it be. If you want to hate it you will. If you've got some friends to play with you, it's decent, anti-social fun for fifteen bucks a month. Treat it like a game, and you'll get something out of it. If you get bored with it (like I recently did), cancel your subscription, and move on.

That's why I'm thinking the mythical Guild Beta might be soon. It was said to start sometime right after they sent a bunch of random invites.
But of course, Mythic's concept of time is quite different from everyone else .
I imagine Mythic's d/l servers are going to melt when the Guild Beta hits.
I doubt it. The Six Mouths got 18 slots, and that's the most out of any of the guild's who have posted about it. They're starting out very small, and will be adding slots to active guilds as their needs expand.
Even with 300 guilds invited that's only 5400 downloads, which isn't that much.

5400 concurrent downloads of ~6 gigs (which WoW and LotRO both weigh in at) is a good chunk of bandwidth...
Eh, only 8 terabytes or so. And that's really not that much in big boy Web hosting land. If they have the datacenters to handle an MMO, the download bandwidth shouldn't be much different.

More slots are awarded to guilds that actively play and provide good beta test feedback. Those slots in turn will be provided to active Six Mouths members who send me nekkid pictures of their girlfriends/sisters.
