I was silently wondering what people were talking about with Soul Eater... and then finally realized that I had memory holed the fanservice characters completely. Like, couldn't remember them as part of the story. Because... they're not! Excalibur is ultimately more meaningful to the progression of the story, it would just be better if they were not there.

Insane Maka vs Crona
Maka literally uses Crona's face as a whetstone for her scythe! Also there's all kinds of distortion happening with her movements and the camera angles to convey the insanity they're both experiencing. There's nothing else quite like it in the series.
Marty: The future, it's where you're going? Doc: That's right, twenty five years into the future. I've always dreamed on seeing the future, looking beyond my years, seeing the progress of mankind. I'll also be able to see who wins the next twenty-five world series.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's a recap/compilation deal. It announced that it'll show what's after the cliffhanger the series ended on though, but that probably means like, 5 minutes at most of added stuff there.

I hate when anime do the recap episodes, even more so when it's a movie recap. But they must do it for a reason...
Money. They want to milk every last cent from the superfans who will buy the series at ridiculous markup, the movie version, the VN, the manga, the spinoff manga, the light novel, the Weiß Schwarz CCG tie-in, spend money on the pachinko version, the life size hug pillow, specially embossed condoms, and the novelization.
Eat your heart out Disney/Marvel/Harry Potter/Star Wars.
It's obnoxious but I get it. But then things like Wonder Egg Priority happen and the ending is a massive disappointment, and they wasted the "wrap up movie" with 90 percent recap

I too sat there for five minutes after reading that, my eyes widening as I remembered different parts of the Soul Eater anime.
Both anime and manga are really fun, as long as you can look past the stupid nonsense.
