I don't think it's hard to argue that DS9 definitely has more consistently good writing than TNG. I feel like maybe TNG has some higher highs, but DS9 rarely had a bad episode.

DS9 had bad episodes in the first three seasons. I was watching mostly from inertia and how good that one S1 episode was.

Season 4 hasn’t had a bad episode yet.

Also I find it hilarious how, in TNG, Worf was always used as ‘the guy to get beat up to show how serious the threat is’

While so far I’m DS9 all he does is beat the shit out of whoever challenges him

Yeah, season 1 had a few clunkers, but even as the worst season, it was still (I think) dramatically better than TNG season 1. Beyond that, I thought seasons 2 and 3 were pretty good, with some so-so episodes at worst. But yeah, from season 4 onward, there's almost never anything I wouldn't rewatch. Season 7 has been phenomenally good the entire way through so far (I'm about to watch the series finale in a minute!)

Ah, it stinks, it sucks, it's anthropologically unjust

Season 4 is when the show became bingeable for me.

Edit: There are a smattering of episodes I would recommend from the first three seasons, but for the most part I’d recommend watching those and then skipping to the last episode of S3 and going from there.

There is an interaction between Worf and an enemy in the seventh season that was so good that I basically vomited up laughter.

    Nah, its:

    DS9 Late Season 7 Spoilers
Ezri Dax and Worf are captured by some Cardassians and Weyoun (Jeffrey Combs) starts insulting Dax. He gets really close to them and at one point Worf immediately snaps his neck.
    MintyShamefulGoose-size_restricted.gif

I can't stress enough how quickly it happens within the scene.

My favorite two Worf fights are him killing his way through like a dozen Jem'Hadar over a few days in By Inferno's Light (where their leader just gives up after realizing none of them had a chance to beat him in a fair fight, much less any shot at breaking his spirit) and when he just clowns on a few in One Little Ship.

One thing I wish we had gotten at some point, probably in DS9 because it's the only logical place for it to happen, would be the Borg showing up and absolutely bodying the Dominion. Can you imagine what the Borg could have done with just one Founder?!

Let me just say, I appreciate the spoilers. I've been spoiled on a couple of things just because it's old media and whatnot, but I am still fairly blind going in.

Like, I was not expecting the
Klingons to break their alliance with the Federation.

But holy shit I love it.

    Post sons of mogh analysis:
Love the episode. Love it. But not a big fan of the ending. It kinda falls into the category of "wait, you can do that?" Where the implications of what they can do with that procedure makes you question a few things. But it's a minor quibble for such an amazing episode full of pathos and ethos

I finished Our Flag Means Death (spoilers)
I think the early reviews of the show did it no favors, because I went in expecting something closer to WWDitS based on people's descriptions of what the show would be and was a little underwhelmed (this also made me assume people shipping the main characters, even though I knew their characters did fall in love onscreen, was Fandom being Fandom and that it would be closer to Guillermo and Nandor)

But once it became apparent that "oh this is literally a Romcom structure," I enjoyed it immensely more

I still think some of the praise for it has been overblown but I did enjoy it a lot.

Moon Knight just spent an entire episode in Egypt and didn’t use a yellow/sepia filter over any of it, and it’s wild how surprised I am about that.

The lead director for the show is actually Egyptian, and I saw that he said one of the reasons he wanted to do the show was to show a more authentic version of his country

    https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/moon-knight-mohamed-diab-authenticity-egypt-1235124803/
Now based in L.A. but best known in Egypt for writing major hits, such as El Gezeira, and directing acclaimed hard-hitting dramas, including Cairo 678 and the Cannes-bowing Clash, Diab — who helmed four of Moon Knight’s six episodes — says that a major part of the 200-page pitch to Marvel he put together with his writer-producer wife, Sarah Goher, was all about ensuring that his country and its citizens were correctly depicted onscreen, ducking the stereotypes and cliches so often seen.

“A big part of our pitch was avoiding the orientalist look, which always dehumanizes us,” he says. “It shows us as exotic, where women are submissive and men are evil. And it wasn’t only about representation of the people, but of the place itself.”

    Ally McBeal update:

On today's episode Ally is depressed over losing Jesse L Martin and blares Boz Scaggs in the office as a result. To get her to stop this Ling proposes that Ally rent one of the hunks in her male escort service to make her ex-boyfriend jealous. The male escort? Antonio Sabato Jr. What follows is the entire office concocting a scheme in which they throw a fake birthday party for John Cage to get Jesse L Martin to show up & see Ally with a new guy.

This plan is more-or-less a success even though the fake birthday party turns into Ally & her ex-boyfriend doing dueling dual-musical-acts with their dates. Its so god damn petty and Elaine continues to be AJ & I's POV character as she fucking adores it all.

Oh yeah, Calista Flockart gives an amazing monologue regarding the needs & desires of women:
You want a little logic? Here's some: We put in 1 2-hour days at our professions. A personal life is more important, but we don't work on it. I am going to apply myself, apply a work ethic to my private life. No options excluded, and no apologies for it. It's not about wanting a man. It's about a partner, okay? A partner for life. I am heterosexual and that limits me to men, if I want sex. And I do! I like sex! If that makes me weak, I wanna be weak. I want a partner, I want sex. I want a house with furniture. I want a baby. I want it all. I want to get fat. I want maternity dresses, I want my legs in stirrups, spit the little thing out and have him suck on my breast. Daddy right there the whole time with a camcorder. That's what I want. Instead of waiting for it, I'll make it happen. Can you deal with that?

Meanwhile Georgia is test-piloting around the office some dresses that Ling has been producing, which causes Billy to freak out and start policing what his wife can wear at work. He does this several times and then later in the episode, during John Cage's fake birthday party, Georgia wants to go up on stage to sing (which she can't do at all), which he shoots down and then doesn't support her while the rest of the crowd try to fake their way through Courtney Thorne-Smith butchering Son Of A Preacher Man.
