Something to consider is private property (and the single family home more specifically) as an extension of the feudal castle lord. David Roberts had what I think is a fairly cogent attack showing how it's just the modern day equivalent of the castle that might be of interest to you.

All of that seems to be true and I agree with it

However, I still don't want to ever have to physically interact with another human ever again if I can help it. If I could retire right now and move a couple hundred miles into the middle of the woods but still have excellent internet and have all my groceries and medications delivered to me, nobody would ever see me again (except my wife and our dogs/cats/pigs).

Let's also not forget that another huge factor in the housing crisis, is all the bullshit NIMBY things. There are a ton of NIMBY crap that was pushed for very racist reasons. Thus resulted in both housing that is too expensive for people that aren't wealthy and pushing people into setups where if they have to make long commutes, that often negate any cost saving they get from moving further out of the city to the more "affordable" housing. Given systemic racism, this does fall heavily on blacks.

Also it's made worse with all the business consolidation as well, since it really feels like that is resulting in all the good jobs being consolidated into locations that already have a high cost of living and further driving the cost of home up in those areas further.

Then they'd also need to do something about how developers go about things as well. There are a ton of shit tier homes that are super expensive because the developers want to make a killing, so they'll switch out basic countertops for granite countertops (IMO that shit should devalue a home, given what fucking hassle that shit is) and cheap carpet & linoleum for hardwood floors because it doesn't cost them much more and then they jack the price way, way up. So you get this overpriced shit that is billed as "luxury" housing, that is still luxury housing at all.

freeman home-owners had significantly more collective bargaining power than the modern peasantry, largely because modern policing has a much stricter hold on legitimatized reactive violence

yeah you had no modern medicine and everything probably stunk, but at least you could sue or murder your local lord if they pissed you off enough, and generally get away with it

Like right down to stand-your-grand laws being considered "castle doctrine"

Even the people making the laws agree!

When something bad happened there were usually authorities who were responsible for dealing with it in most societies. What's fundamentally different about modern law enforcement is patrolling. At some point we got the notion that we needed people watching over people to make sure they weren't breaking the law.

There has been a mass shooting in Buffalo, NY, killing at least 10 and injuring more. It was live streamed to twitch by the shooter.

It is believed that the shooter posted a manifesto on 4chan, wherein they describe themselves as a
white supremacist and their intent being to target an area with the highest black population in his state.

All copaganda TV is bad but the part where like four people quickly and successfully handle every part of the investigation aside form being the snarky coroner is particularly stupid.

I honestly stopped watching after a dude in dubai committed assults similar to an svu episode and i had enough data from that episode to build a profile

I also miss the days where svu pointed out suspects were free because
    *victims were not important enough
    *rape kits were destroyed
    *victims slut shamed
*families were intimidated into slut shaming
*victims in the closet and too damn scared to leave for fear of exile
    *abusers were police officers

They will continue to keep him on air because he's their biggest audience draw/most prominent eldritch horror. Even if some advertiser drop him, others will happily show up and cover the slack to get those trendy spendy white supremacist eyeballs on their vile catalogue of horrors.

Isn't Fox no longer very reliant on advertisement money? I thought they got most of their money in cable fees these days. Something about packaging laws of channels, so you can't just pay for the ones you want, or (in this case) NOT pay for the ones you DON'T want?

Speaking of our shitgibbon legislators did you see this?
Earlier on Friday, six separate power generation facilities in the state went offline causing the loss of nearly 3,000 megawatts of electricity.

Interim CEO Brad Jones stated ERCOT is working closely with other aspects of the power industry to ensure electricity can be provided to all consumers, noting the increasing heat.

All power has been restored with operations running normally.

James said he is asking all consumers to limit and conserve energy whenever possible and provided tips on doing so.

Use of appliances such as dishwashers, washers, and dryers should be avoided during the peak times of 3-8 p.m. during the weekend.

He also stated consumers should set their thermostat to at least 78 degrees or more.

I'm so glad Abbott and his cronies and sycophants fixed our power grid after 2019's clusterfuck of a disaster. 🙃

Even if enough advertisers pull out that they have to boot him, they'll just replace him with another guy who takes the temperature down just enough to seem comparatively reasonable and empathetic, and then he'll slowly turn the rhetoric back up

Yeah I'm saying fuck that, not my responsibility to "reduce demand" because the people in power prefer jerking themselves off than solving problems.

No, it's not an actual quote. The message I was trying to communicate was very similar to that of Lucas's OT: the hubris of white supremacists who think they can terrorize the people they oppress into not fighting back.

And like clockwork, another mass shooting, this time at a church in SoCal.

  • HacksawHacksaw J. Duggan Esq. Wrestler at LawRegistered User regular
Not to detract from the latest mass shooting, but this was pointed out to me and is extremely relevant/depressing:

The press does everything in its power to dehumanize or otherwise play up the maturity of young Black victims, but will go absolutely all the fuck out of its way to paint white murderers as immature boys who maybe possibly shouldn't be held accountable for their actions. They pullef this same shit with Dylann Roof, calling him a young man and a misguided youth.

This is some utterly sickening shit that should result in firing and exile from journalism forever. Go type your propaganda under a white hood you racist fucks. At least then we'll see your bias on the sleeves of your white robe so we know not to waste our time with your dreck.
