And as always don't forget there is nothing funnier than all three of you hopping on the extraction while watching your downed fourth friend crawl feebly towards it.

And if you're a driller, aka the best class, you can make this happen on demand

Rock and stone! Thanks for some helpful tips everyone. Just did my first escort mission so I’m almost done with the first assignment on the mission board. It’s taking some time since not all of us are online at the same time and we always do the mission from the one of us who is the farthest “behind”.

If you play on PC, hit ctrl to bring up the pointer, then hit 1 to swap weapons. The game will still think you have the pointer out and will show you people, platforms, drop pods, molly, and ammo as thought you did. It really should just be made a feature of the game at this point.

Mine was pearls for a long while. Long enough that my friends started running jokes about how I'd hare off in the middle of a mission if I saw a hint of a pearl and would mine them over picking up downed dwarves every time

The minerals spawn based on the zone type you run, so you can focus on getting needed minerals. I find it varies what I lack.

Engineer is the greatest because you can roleplay as an OSHA inspector. Ohh no, this workplace just won't do, let me just fill in the gaps in the floor here! I wish you could deploy vertically aligned platforms at edges, too.

The engineer gets a portable nuke launcher. I don't know what else needs to be said.

Also, if anyone says ROCK AND STONE at any time, everyone else must do it as well.

I used to run the LOK with every Engineer build, usually the Executioner overclock. Now I still have a build that uses it, but with the Seeker Rounds (ignores all armor of absolutely anything and does full damage) with the RJ250 Compoud (Rocket Jumps) for my 'high mobility' Engineer build.

All my other 4 Engineer builds are using EM Refire Booster on Stubby (Electric SMG) with different secondaries from the Nuke, to an AoE Shared Diffuser, to a one-shot Nemesiss Shard Diffuser, to an Inferno Breach Cutter for fighting lots of robots. ...I uh, don't use the shotgun at all.

Similarly I have 4 Drak builds on the Scout, one anti-Dreadnought in particular Deepcore build, and no M1000 builds.

Edit: Besides the Nuke, Hyper Propellant is another really good PGL overclock that's just massive single-target anti-boss damage. I don't currently run it on anything, but it's good.

My only class that has distinct loadouts with all weapons is Driller. CRISPER with EPC (Heavy Hitter) and Colette, Cryo with EPC and Subata (Full Auto), and Sludge/Colette with Gamma Contamination - they all are good depending on what you're doing and where. The other classes . . . yeah, kind of locked down on a single set.

Engi has been fully LOK-1/ECR, Shard/Efficiency Tweaks since I found them.

Gunner hasn't moved off of Thunderhead/Big Bertha, Bulldog/Six-shooter - I have the minelayer for the rocket launcher but it's never really seemed to work for me.

Scout is all DRAK/Aggressive Venting, Boomstick/Compact Shells.

I actually use all three primaries with Driller (as you mentioned, but different loadouts) and with Gunner.

I have three minigun setups: Lead Storm (most dakka, no movement), A Little More Oomph! (okay, I actually need mobility), and Burning Hell (my favorite for the gun, burn everything). But for the other two weapons I only have one Overlock I really like and builds for them. Neurotoxin Payload (w/ Fear) for massive aoe, poision, and fear with the Thunderhead (I love this setup!) and Jet Fuel Homebrew with the Hurricane for a good all-rounder weapon when I feel like switching things up.

And yeah, Six Shooter on the Bulldog just feels really good.

I run a dedicated point extraction loadout using a magnetic accelerator shotgun and the Fatman pgl.

    It owns.

The PGL is better than the breach cutter and I'll die on this hill

It's a lot of fun but it does throw a lot of stuff at you fairly quickly. Just stick with the lower hazard level stuff and you will be fine.

Scout is arguably the hardest class due to being about the mobility from his grapple but because you're still learning will cause you to miss or not land on a safe platform.

Still loads of fun and do whatever you want. Playing singleplayer has the very helpful Bosco bot to help you out and will even revive you twice before mission failure.

Edit: Scout also gets upgrades to make fall damage a lot less severe.

Driller is a great starter. The ability to carve your own paths makes navigating most zones easy. Plus it removes some tedium when you hit really hard rock.

Plus it will teach you the minimap when you drill yourself off a cliff.

    Plus who doesn’t love C4

Every class has 6 entirely different guns so there's plenty to play around with and find what you like.

Then when you get to lvl25 and promote your first class you start being able to earn Overclocks, which is where the real fun begins. They're 'super' weapon mods that can range from small tweaks to entirely changing how your gun works to the point where you build a whole loadout around them.

The one thing to enjoy most during extraction as you race back is seeing roughly 30% of the objectives you missed along the way.

Driller or Scout were the best options for us when we started. Driller is just so much fun to drill back to the pod at the end. Once you get used to the game though, it's hard to beat the Scout for SP speed. He can just get to objectives faster and easier. Fossil on the ceiling? no biggy, just grapple up, get it, and slow fall down (perk or overclock).

EDIT: Certain missions do favor certain classes. I find the gunner to be really useful for Drilldozer missions (SP or group) since the gattling gun can take out the laser rocks really easy.

I like being scout when you got a engi that is synced with you so you can be fast and loose grappling ceiling and not wait on engi platforms

Joined a room with two guys who were trying to get that 120 seconds riding a rail achievement for some reason (this was Steam, so I'm not used to people actually caring about achievements on there). Eventually one of them quit, idk why I stuck around for him to finish. It was a long 2 hours, but we got really good drops on minerals in the level so I didn't wanna quit. Eventually he finished with me helping out here and there. Ended up probably being a 2 1/2 minute ride once it was done.
