I had such a good time with our Clan vs IS game that I wanted to see what kind of setups were in the book. Thinking of grabbing the digital version, but I was curious what's actually in it. Are we talking individual scenario ideas, or extended campaign setups that don't go too deep into what individual games are?
Kinda want to grab the digital versions of the other sourcebooks, too. Prices are ok.
I highly recommend it. It goes through the Chaos Campaign rules with scenario ideas and descriptions and how to run an ongoing campaign via total war or alpha strike. This is expanded by scenario tracks for every Clan in the invasion vs Comstar. So it lets you play out each clan and their objectives at Tukayyid in scenarios that all link together including time lines that allow you to follow the battle and how it happened as well as play out key battles. Of course theres also chain of commands and force organization for everyone involved. Lots of new mech variants in the back of mechs used specifically in the battles and camospecs for the factions. Its 184 pages of goodness that grognards like me salivate over.
I realized I don’t have to pay tuition ever again so I splurged and stocked up on some sourcebook PDFs. Starting with Tukayyid and yeah! This is rad. All sorts of ideas and ways to play.
Grabbed ilClan and Empire Alone as well, already had Tamar Rising.
Speaking of spending money, I got an Elegoo Mars 2 Pro. Having fun with it. I did a successful test print then threw an Osiris model at it. It came out... ok.
So it looks like I lost a lot of undercarriage. My guess is that I need to go in and add some supports to the thing, because the detail on the rest of the model came out great.

Yeah, that's almost 100% a supports problem. Way better first try than mine, though!
It's obvious, but worth stating anyway: After a print like that, make sure your FEP is clean of any stuck-on debris.

Yep! I learned that when I saw how my dice attempt failed (no supports, stuck to FEP early on). That's what those 1's in the photo are. They stuck to the FEP and the rest of the dice did not print.
But I do have some rad "1" tokens now. Might just slice the faces off of the models for the dice and prints some 2-5's
And of course, here's the follow through. Supports are the way.
SUPER happy with how these boys turned out.

STOCK ALERT!
Urbie salvage boxes are in stock at the CGL webstore.
Somebody put together a reddit post of BLP's longterm crash and burn.
I'm not going to lie, Seeing him refered to as BLP is really messing with me as someone familiar with BPL (black pants legion) and the good work they've done for Battletech.
Lol at having to republish a book with a new ending
It was actually incredibly annoying because his original ending had all kinds of crazy implications for the setting but then it turned out he was just way out on his own.

I should point out that the same issue came up in the Reddit thread from somebody else, and the original Author, as it turns out, is not a fan of them either (primarily due to the Arch incident).
Also of note is the way Alaric's falling-out with the Dragoons went down. Either Alaric is a master of 5D chess or he chose a weird time to pick up huffing coolant. Either way it was super weirdly written.
Now that I think about it, HotW also required CGL to push out a patched version of the ebook. Nothing as egregious as a rewritten ending, but getting the names of 'Mechs wrong and putting Alaric in a Skinwalker, a 'Mech he very specifically cannot pilot.
It's a terrifying design but it also requires the enhanced imaging interface system which necessitates sophisticated surgical techniques, advanced personal battlesuits, and also drives the user insane within a few years.
You do get to skip including a gyro, though.

And all of this feels extra weird, because it's a Clan Wolf exclusive in the late Dark Age era.
Like, the WoB level of fanaticism needed to want that in your touman....well, maybe Alaric being in charge explains it. Maybe?
Ehhhh, the Clans have always had their fanatics looking for a blaze of glory. Most of the Warrior caste is like that. They invented EI in the first place, along with the Hellbringer and Hunchback IIC. The Skinwalker is way less suicidal than those.

As someone who doesn't keep up with internet drama, but does like to take a taste now and then, can you give a TL:DR for the Arch Incident?

Tex did a stream with Arch in which they each talked about their nerdy hobbies (BT/40k) and why they enjoy it.
The incident is that the collab happened at all.

A little while ago there was a vocal exodus from 40k over GW’s new internet creator policy (where they brought several content creators in-house and started going after others) with BattleTech being one of the landing points. Tex did a collab with one of the YouTubers who made the jump. The big problem being that the one he did it with, Arch, is fairly well known in 40k circles as being a fascist and racist, enough where his videos are banned on Dakka (fairly certain he was banned there too).
Tex claimed it was due to lack of knowledge on his end when it blew up, while others claimed he should have properly vetted Arch before doing the collab and didn’t do enough to denounce racism/racism when it blew up, simply claiming he made a mistake and laying low for several months instead.
To expand a little, Arch Warhammer was a smarmy edgelord Warhammer youtuber who made some highly contentious videos that infuriated the SJW crowd, and that's all he would have ever been except after a while he overdosed on redpills and went off the deep end with a series of rant videos that eventually got his name banned from multiple Warhammer related subreddits, got him blacklisted from any company GW had partnered with, and was unofficially (but overwhelmingly likely) a major contributing factor to GW's infamous "You will not be missed" statement. The main issue he had with GW seemed to be with the believed politicization of Warhammer in an attempt to cater to the woke mob, which is a topic that certainly could be discussed but he was, to put it politely, not capable of the nuance required to do so effectively. Screenshots purported to come from his Discord server showed him using a number of slurs and at least one member of his mod team advocating for the creation of child pornography due to it "not harming" children. You accept what you tolerate, so not denouncing his mod staff for making comments like that after being exposed says something.
He is essentially radioactive with regards to collaborations. Or, more accurately, he was radioactive, because youtube and twitch banned him and deleted all of his videos. I normally believe that cancel culture is generally just leftists weaponizing their hurt feelings, but I am more than willing to make an exception when it comes to Arch receiving the digital equivalent of being nuked from orbit.
Unfortunately, his spirit animal is a herpes outbreak and as such he was able to return to youtube with both a tabletop lore channel and a general political channel. The majority of the community seems to have washed their hands of him though, so after his social exterminatus I doubt he'll be making any waves in the future.
Given that tex isn't really warhammer guy I can see why he would have missed the whole thing with arch as opposed to getting to have a talk with someone who made the jump to BT.
And as to tex, while he has his lore biases He hasn't given any indication that he is of a similar mindset to arch.

I have enough disposable income but $8 shipping for a $7 single model isn’t palatable, unfortunately. Sorry Urbie.
Yeah, this is the one* serious drawback to CGL's webstore. A couple of buddies and I are actually going to bulk-buy a bunch of stuff (...if the Hammerhead ever comes back in stock...*sigh*...) to save on shipping, since we'll be in person together in a few months.
*I say one, assuming US delivery. If you're in the RoW, well....many more drawbacks, all of them shipping and distribution.

I can see the reasoning behind people getting mad, but at the same time I don't think a person should be expected to know everything about someone who comes from an entirely different tabletop game audience. As for saying he made a mistake and laying low for a while, that has been shown in the past to be the best option, since apologizing usually makes things worse.

It bothered me too, but I bought one anyway. I had wanted to pick up an Urbanmech for a while, but hadn't gotten around to it. I had been looking at older metal ones but honestly after buying one of them and tracking down a fullsize base I'd basically be paying the same as a new plastic one so I figured what the hell.
"Bear" as he's known in his daily live streams is incredibly *diligent* with doing over views of mechs, largely going by era's and/or TROs along with doing overviews of the supplements.
Dude has been putting out a video review pretty much every day for months straight.
Miniature Market is having a sale on pluck foam and I was thinking of grabbing some to store my Battletech minis.
Anyone have a recommendation on the right thickness to get?
If you're laying the models down, 1.5"-2" should be sufficient. Hedge toward 2" if the 'Mechs have long gun-barrel arms.
If you're standing the models up, 2"-2.5", probably hedging toward the 2.5", with a few tall outliers (that I've only heard of, and would need to verify) maybe needing 3" instead. Those are relative rarities, though; I just measured a few of my taller, problematic IWM models (Archangel, Shiro, Warhammer IIc 4) and they came right up to the 2.5" mark.
Some of the plastics I’d recommend a 2.5 tray if laying down. I have a Feldherr case and both the King Crab and Stone Rhino arm weapons extend a little past the top of their 2” trays.

Didn't even know this would be a thing! Picked one up, may go back for a second depending if I need more tokens.
How do you think @Nips got his name?
