i took a break but every game is just so insanely toxic right now and i cannot stand the jungle meta right now. every game i have to play against bel'veth yi kayn or udyr i want to pound my face into a wall until i die. and then i spend the whole game getting massively flamed if i don't win every person's lane. get 3 dragons and 2 heralds? lmao the other jg has 3 more kills than you, go kill yourself absolute dogwater trash.
i wish riot wasn't so bad at doing anything with this game that they somehow make billions of dollars on even though they do less in a year to maintain and support it than they do every 2 weeks in wild rift or valorant.

zhonyas makes for exciting, skillful-feeling reflex plays at low elos as well—I love feeling like I pushed the button at the very last moment by the skin of my teeth and barely survived
I also play a lot of squishy immobile mages and it seriously does make the feel less frustrating to play as
when the zhonyas is on the opposite team—I don’t mind if it’s on a squishy mage; means I can’t just press a 100-0 button but perhaps I ought to demonstrate some skill and find a slightly more involved way to kill thm, you know?
I do find it frustrating when it’s on 3-4 characters on the enemy team who are in some weird AP deathball, but honestly that is not the main issue of the AP AoE deathball

one heuristic I use: if you pick before your support (unless they have a serious support hovered), play someone who can safely lane by themselves (e.g. Caitlyn). Accept that you may play a lane where you come out let’s say 1-1 and your support 0-4.
I know you like to play Jinx (although idk if that’s who you are playing now) but you should have a safe pick (Cait, MF, ezreal, sivir) available for when you have the demented support picks
I mean honestly you never know when a standard support pick is still hiding an absolute trash player so it’s nice to play safer adcs pretty often hahaha
anyway it is possible to adc solo but on the other hand i solo adced myself up to gold 2 and then uh all the way back down to gold 4 soooooo….yeah….
The other thing I wanted to say about soloQ adc in the mid silver-high gold elo bracket is: you simply cannot expect to get the LCS adc experience where your team fights front to back and you free auto and save the day. Yes, that is what the role of adc is designed around. Yes, it does suck that, given the teams that were chosen, your team would have a better chance of winning if you could auto more than once without dying. But…that’s just not how the game is usually played at this elo. It’s more chaotic, there are more yoloq heros and weird skirmishes and team comps with zero frontline executed bizarrely and teamcomps with a frontline but the frontline still doesn’t give a shit about peeling.
If you can’t accept that—if you cannot recognize that there are many, many games where your role is not to be the big damage dealing carry but instead to survive by kiting and distracting the other team’s biggest threats (who are intent on killing you primarily—because you are ahead on farm and if they don’t kill you, you *will* be the carry) while the rest of your team does stuff—then you should not play adc because it will be mental torture. You are maybe in one out of 20 games get the experience of free firing as jinx into a bunched teamfight while your team heroically blocks for you. It should not be your expectation going in because people at our elo simply do not play optimally and we should not expect them to. You can instead expect to be berated by your team for ‘not doing damage’ as they hang you out to dry.
But still, there is something really fun, for me, in building up this giant threat potential and 1. executing great escapes where I know they want nothing more than to kill me, but I don’t let them 2. knife’s edge positioning moments of glory where I manage to unload some of this damage and dip back out while knowing it’s really dangerous 3. the rare times where I do finally get to actually auto people and then they all die hehehe. It’s fun for me knowing that if they don’t kill me or zone me off I will destroy the teamfight. But also realistically—I know that the enemy team will be given plenty of opportunity to kill me or zone me off, and I adjust my expectations accordingly.
i did play cait, but they had nilah so if we just go even and i have to 2v1 the lane then we lose anyway. which is exactly what happened, they outscaled, got 6 first because nilah passive, all inned with the undodgable rell flash play, and then the game's functionally over.
just can't bully hard enough 2v1 when you have to back off every time the other team's rell starts moving up or the mid goes missing because your "support" is a ranged minion 400 units behind you. i forced them to recall a few times but nilah passive and scaling too strong. supports win the lane and adcs mostly are along for the ride, so it's mad frustrating when people play shit that just instaloses lane and has no chance to ever be good.
like i don't expect to be the carry, i have played enough league to know that below master, mid and top with a side of carry jgs are the carry, adc is by far and away the worst role to carry with. but i would like my teammate to not make my life a living hell by trapping me in a trashcan for 25 minutes where i get to be killed by the other team whenever i want to hit a minion because they aren't even a tiny bit scared of the support.

something I've noticed since queuing support/bot (as current bot/jng are the prio): most people are willing to let me swap to support over adc now.

I'm mostly playing Wild Rift these days due to time constraints, and at Platinum in that version the fills are always support and jungle which coincidentally are my preferred roles, though I do also like to take Yone or Fiora top after a few beers.
I loved watching Loud in Play-Ins. There's no boring do-nothing and die play there. They were scrappy, the players looked like they were having a blast, and their elimination was emotional. I'm definitely going to pay more attention to CBLOL. These guys were super fun to root for.
My work schedule has allowed me to stream the Live Worlds play-ins and man, I am cleaning up on Worlds drops through LoL Esports rewards. 5 new icons and 11 new emotes....so far. But I really want the Tiffany & Co. Crystal Rose Zyra skin and Ward skin.

my friend group is made up of 5 tank players that we try and cover all the roles with (and somehow I still end up being the only tank in a lot of games 🤔) so we think about malphite a lot
virtue is also probably going to be Shyvana's go to item even with these tank build nerfs coming in, grab item hunter to cut the cooldown down since she can ult basically on demand if there's camps to hit and she'll be actually unkillable when engaging on fools
I just realized yesterday there were account rewards tied with watching the games and although I haven't been interested in watching it, that was enough to make me tune into worlds

Also, I finally (weeks if not months after the rework) figured out how to play Sivir again, phew. Idk why it took me so long (...and so much lost elo...) but I've finally had consistently successful and impactful games.
I watched a ton of casters streaming their Worlds prep and have been watching Worlds.
They were all so stoked that Zeri/Sivir/Yuumi/Lulu got the nerf bat and now occasionally sneak in a comment when Sivir/Yuumi shows up again. It's great.
Everyone predicted the rise of Maokai, but a particular region in spoilers below ignored it, and it shows in horrible drafts and a subpar performance this far.
Did I mention that same region has yet to win a game in Groups?

NA is absolutely getting trashed. Their drafts are awful, and the players are failing to execute. Coaching clearly didn't prep for this. Unless there's a big come to Jesus meeting, none of them look like they can take a game in Groups right now, let alone win enough to advance. It's sad.
