Unfortunately I think Pratts Mario sounds fine actually

I was hoping it would be obviously bad but its just not as cheesy as the martinet voice

I think his voice sounds fine, and a brooklyn accent is probably a better choice than aggressively italian accent. But they probably should've had more lines from him if this was the big voice reveal

Thing is it's not really a Brooklyn accent, it's more like the La Croix of Brooklyn accents. Caveat that we have heard for all of like, 5 seconds or so, so maybe it's better with more lines.

    Saw the movie trailer.

Pratt's voice is boring as hell, but the thing that's bugging me is the very end of the trailer when he says "Mushroom Kingdom, here we come"

"Here we go" was right there guys. Maybe I've just played too much Mario 64.

Nah he here we goes in a bunch of games.

Guess you’ve gotta save the phrases for pivotal moments. Surprised there wasn’t a muffled mama mia when he hit the mushroom.

No see there's gonna be a child Toad who is also named Mario and says all the catchphrases but then he dies and Mario starts to use them as an homage to the child he couldn't save

He'll say "here we go!" after some character development. ;)

While I don't doubt that Chris Pratt has some shitty religious beliefs and wouldn't be surprised if he eventually slipped up and started saying things in public, I don't recall any stories of him actually doing or saying anything particularly terrible yet? Like, he's at "Tom Cruise" levels of religious bad here, where it's a nagging thing in the back of my head. Unlike Cruise, though, Chris Pratt's acting is kind of... tired, I guess? I'm not interested in more Chris Pratt content.

Chris Pratt hasn't said any publicly rough stuff, it's just that we know what very specific church he attends, and we know what very shitty views the priest of that church has expressed

There’s literally zero evidence for this. Chris Pratt sucks but the shit around his son is incredibly gross.

Attends an anti-queer church and refuses to condemn it when pressed, and also followed shit like PragerU, Turning Point, Peterson, and other esteemed luminaries on social media. It's not difficult nor unreasonable to infer uncharitable things about his attitudes even if he keeps his mouth shut.

We've had way too many milkshake ducks of rich, affluent guys who just managed to shut the fuck up about their horribleness and were able to make careers out of it. See: Aaron Rogers.

I'm not giving Pratt the benefit of the doubt on this shit. If he wanted to clear the air and condemn that shit he's had ample opportunity. He has not. I assume the worst.

Wait, if they offered her only 4k for the gig, what the hell are they paying Jennifer Hale? Because Hale definitely is someone that can tell them to eat shit for that kind of joke.

  • XaquinXaquin Right behind you!Registered User regular
Does Bayonetta talk a lot? Legitimate question, I've never played the games. If it's like link or mario where there's about 5 full seconds of dialogue and it's repeated 500 times than who knows.

About as much as Dante in the later DMC games, lots of voiced cutscenes + constant one liners/running commentary during gameplay.

Also her voice was like, instantly recognizable and a huge part of the character, so this hella sucks imo

  • milskimilski Poyo! Registered User regular
Brief googling suggests that $4K would pay for about five four-hour sessions at union rates so unless Bayo's VA work can be knocked out in literally a week this feels more like telling the original VA to fuck off than an actual business decision.

And looking at the cast, Bayo 3 is definitely a union gig. Which means Hellena's union left her twisting in the wind here.

That might be just as fucked up as the lowball offer; that her reps let it happen and didn't fight it.

The other weird thing I saw is that Hellena is supposedly SAG as well as Hale, so unless they genuinely thought the Bayo VA work could be completed in one week the $4K offer just makes zero sense period.

E: Plausibly, they might have been intending for main-Bayonetta to be a bit part and alternate Bayonettas to be other VAs, and then just had Hale do all of them, but that seems... odd. Nothing quite adds up.

So... can you cancel eShop preorders? I don't think they charged me for Bayo 3 yet.

Edit: if anyone else was curious, it's a few pages deep on the browser eShop, under Shop Menu, then pre-orders.

Without knowing how much work she was intended to do, we don't know how fair the $4k was. Especially since they still went with a union actress instead of her.

Having heard Hale in the latest trailer, she's demonstrably worse in the role

She has her strong suits but accent work isn't one of em
