I can't unsee that water splash not getting those people wet. It's so glaring once you're aware of it.

and it happens twice!!! why do it a second time just to call more attention to it?

I'm just glad I wasn't the only one who saw that, I thought "oh man am I gonna be the pedantic one who brings it up first"

Ugh, the problem with Transformers is that while Bumblebee was good and fun, all the rest of them are aggressive, noxious trash that's borderline incomprehensible. And I'm the person who likes Transformers, who grew up watching Transformers, who would show up to a Transformers movie and evangelize it! And they refuse to make a movie for someone like me so I'm so disillusioned at this point that I just assume they're all gonna be trash until proven otherwise

Well, if at first you don’t succeed…

Ah, it stinks, it sucks, it's anthropologically unjust

Indiana Jones 5 trailer shown at Brazil's Comic Con.

It does look pretty fun. Indy 3 vibes, kind of. But also probably balanced precariously between being its own thing, and references.

In that first real shot of Sallah and Indy, they look decrepit as fuck.

It's a trailer, so it's somewhat Indy heavy, but I'm curious how much it'll actually rely on him for action.

And it's a shame that Rhys-Davies is 10 pounds of shit in a 5 pound bag.

I rewatched Dodgeball recently, and as a dumb comedy from that era it's pretty good, but jesus Vince Vaughn is such a fucking creep in it (par for the course, I know)

Disagree, the film does not stand the test of time outside of a couple of isolated bits.

But as I've said before, the entire enterprise was worth it to introduce "It's a bold strategy, Cotton" to our greater lexicon.

I will never ever forgive the transformers movies for the one two punch of the 2nd movie being this horrifying racist shitball AND the even worse crime: Getting Transformers Animated cancelled, because executives are cowards and idiots.

Also they're artistically awful with no sense of silhouette or color to the bots which results in the most incoherent crud ever.

Ideas hate it when you anthropomorphize them

That Indy trailer is so generic in its stylings it's painful to me.

I don't think that necessarily reflects on the quality of the movie, but it does tell me that there's no one with a hand on the wheel willing or able to fight for a good trailer. And that is concerning to me

is Bob Odenkirk in it? Are there humans that need to be beat up by Bob Odenkirk? Then we got ourselves a Nobody sequel.

    We're watching The Invitation.

The main character is visiting the De Ville family at their mansion, New Carfax Abbey. There are no mirrors for some reason.

    It's a very subtle movie.

Carfax is where four roads meet according to Merriam-Webster

And Carfax Abbey is where Stoker's book puts Dracula's residence

No word on where the fox comes into it

Even though I'm sure I watched it a dozen times on VHS, my grandmother did not remember anything about Willow, so we watched it today. Happy to report that Willow still rules.

Trying the new show tomorrow, hopefully that's fun as well.

Meanwhile I watched Willow for the first time since I was a very small child yesterday and was like "this sucks!"

It was one of those things where I thought that, even though I don't remember it, there must be something to it for it to get a new revival show this late in the game. Instead it was a very silly movie for very young children with some wild special effects that people have nostalgia over, and Disney Plus needed some new original content, so here we are

Hope it pleases the folks who wanted that! Mostly I'm just happy for Warwick Davis, really

you know, Goncharov? the cult classic early Scorsese masterpiece?

fucking hell man even I, chronic "what's a film" idiot, know Goncharov

so like, here's some initial education:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4Dl1bMG_MA

Matteo JWHJ 0715 is an underrated genius.

    spoilers for breaking kayfabe.
Ahem. Beyond lies big spoilers. If you have disassociation issues, or general unreality issues, PLEASE FOR YOUR OWN SANITY click the spoiler. And generally if you're like "this is unfunny bullshit :| " Again, major kayfabe break.
Goncharov is a fake film based on a Russian AI's misinterpretation of a poster for Gommorah, printed on a shoe.

    Yes, really.

Tumblr's community (of which I am one! ... I was part of the group doing Navidson Record comparative analysis) recently in a collective hallucination decided it would be wonderful if we all pretented it was a real film and were as pretentious as one could possibly be about it, which spawned a glorious vomiting of metatext, trailers, music, screenshots, and fanfic.

Here is a Tumblr masterpost explaining most of what the FUCK is happening: https://www.tumblr.com/hussyknee/701454778540146688/im-so-confused-rn-can-you-explain-the-goncharov?source=share
I am quite aware that there's many people who think this is Dumb or Stupid or, gods forbid, Cringe

To which my rejoinder is, in this fucking era of endless reboots, of Franchising and Moichindizing, can you not permit a hive mind meme collective of a bunch of idiots going "haha a fake mafia movie based on a stupid robot's misinterpretation of an existing movie on a bootleg shoe designed to skim a few bucks off the NuRome hegemony, wouldn't it be wild if we pretended it was totally real?" a few shits, and, perhaps, a modicum of giggles?

ANYWAY I cannot BELIEVE you plebs haven't seen fucking Goncharov, and you call yourselves film buffs.
