Lovers/Tacos just went 26 innings before the Tacos finally scored, final score 1-0. AFAIK that's the longest a game has gone without scoring (not counting a game that went 300 innings in internal testing)
    This game rules.

Unfortunately, the Cultural Event of Blaseball is over. They're cancelling plans for another season and shuttering Blaseball.

Basically it wasn't financially or emotionally sustainable for the company running it. I had been expecting it for awhile but it's still sad to see.

They were still doing weekly update posts up until last week, too. I was hoping for the best.

Haven't engaged with Blaseball for a while, but I will cherish the memories I have of it fondly.

btw, if you want any last Blaseball merch, the fan-made stuff at Blaseball Cares is shutting down on June 30th, and a bunch of stuff is on sale: https://www.blaseballcares.com/
I might grab all the TLOPPS Blaseball cards if I remember

Alright, them not having a merch store made me intensely curious as to how they made enough money to have employees at all and it was just high level sponsorships from things like Friends at the Table and Patreon? Is that it? I understand not wanting to let monetization get in the way of the experience, and to commit to social justice causes, but if you're going to expand the scope as much as they did a few times, to the point where you need to bring multiple people on, I think at some point you've gotta do something

    Maybe they were, I dunno

They did have a round of funding from some external source around the peak of the hype, but then I think they made a mistake by completely killing the momentum rather than having something going at any given time

I'd have loved more mini test leagues like the Coffee Cup

I'll cherish that short period of time in the season that wasn't when the Jands were good maybe.

This feels like one of those moments in Internet History where the pandemic created this perfect storm of no sports, nothing to do, and was supremely interesting.

Then they took that moment and threw the brakes on for, what was it, like six months? Also adding even more impenetrable jargon and mechanics even turned me off.

RIP Baseball. RIP my Chicago Fire who had the funniest slogan in all of sports for a Chicago based team, 'We are from Chicago.'

We will all have the mythical saga of Jalen Hotdogfingers.

I am in the business of saving lives.
