The latest chapter of the light novel Under The Oak Tree is agonizing. I'm going to be quietly dying while waiting the couple of days for the next translated chapter.
시간을내어 한국어를 배우는 것이 그만한 가치가 있습니까?
Bro, I actually went to the Korean website to buy the next chapter and use a translation tool on it, I was that desperate. The problem is that the Korean website that has it, Ridibooks, won't let you create an account unless you give them your cellphone carrier, and the four cellphone carriers listed are not available in the USA. It's impossible for me to give my actual cellphone carrier, and thus it's impossible for me to purchase a book chapter there.
All they want to do is send me an SMS, I have no idea why my carrier matters, but I guess they're deliberately trying to keep non-Koreans from using the site? Maybe as a way to cut down on fan-translation piracy?
From what I understand, mobile numbers in Korea have been tied into a kind of national identity verification service. I think an app is involved and you have to have a monthly contract with a carrier as well
Yeah that part of Korea is the worst. Like, don't ever misplace your password for any korean app if you don't have a Korean mobile carrier
Marty: The future, it's where you're going? Doc: That's right, twenty five years into the future. I've always dreamed on seeing the future, looking beyond my years, seeing the progress of mankind. I'll also be able to see who wins the next twenty-five world series.

I've had to resort to using the google-translate-via-camera tool with my phone pointing at a monitor to try and work out what happened in some manga where the fan-translation stopped, and that is _no fun_, let me tell you. (especially in places where it's not always super obvious who a particular speech bubble is coming from)

This is certainly some kind of coping mechanism, I guess.
Someone actually going to college with the plan of "I want to be president" is laughable.
Like this (fictional character) actually annoys me. Yes, Indiana has more than enough to do if you want to make the world a better place. Literally everywhere all the time has more problems than there are people to fix them. Being president is not the only way to fix problems. (I would personally argue that being president is, in fact, usually not a way to fix problems.)

To be fair I'm pretty much being a whiny baby here, I just have to wait a couple of days to see the fallout - though it will probably only be the beginning of the fallout, meaning I'll be just as hungry for the following chapter - and ever since book 2 started they've been updating the translation a lot more reliably on Webnovel. But I still would commit a lot of crimes to get a glimpse of those chapters right now.
There's a sort of interesting story behind why there aren't any fan translators of Under The Oak Tree anymore. About a year ago, the other got pissed at illegal translations and formally told people to stop doing it. Surprisingly, this actually did work and all the fan translations stopped. I'm glad for the author's sake that they are getting paid appropriately now! I just really want my translations faster, that's all, which i know isn't a good reason.

This has been her primary defining character trait since the start, as far as I know. She wants to be president. She has no particularly strong ideology or cause or things she wants to fix. She's literally pursuing power for the sake of power.

I'd probably use the word "achievement" instead of power. She doesn't seem super interested in power in itself, but boy does she want status and recognition.

I don't think it's even necessarily power
I think she sees becoming the president as the life equivalent of getting straight As in school. Like it's a test and becoming president is how she knows she's passed

But yeah, she's got no drive, no ideas
Nah, I think she does have a list of things she wants to fix once she's President, and I bet it's a long list. It's just not relevant until she gets there. She's been sold on the idea that getting that office is how she gets the power she wants (to fix everything, because she knows what's best for everyone).
She has a Plan, it's just a naive and unrealistic one.

I would say there have been certain parts of DoA where her goals as president would have been relevant
Like, a friend of hers had a dad come on campus welding a shotgun just because said friend was a lesbian
We could learn something about Dorothy's ambitions based on how she reacts to the systems and laws that allowed that to happen
They're basically sitcom or soap opera characters. There are allusions to these characters having real world problems, but they're always going to be undercut by the fact that they're in a world where one of the characters is a superhero because she has a poorly written mental illness.
Looks like Princess Jack Moonshine continued her evolution up the devil-mask ladder; shame we had to skip her green skull mask phase
Also, Solomon is still on the cover; doesn't necessarily mean anything, but it's possible he is still alive as well
Also also, no Mammom/Mottom. Probably dead?
I'm pretty sure Jaggahog and and Dave are still stuck in the infinite relief sphere, so seeing him isn't too surprising. And we litetally saw Mammon and Mottom get pasted and their keys taken, so their lack is also not surprising.
See, here's where I had originally linked the page where Jag literally rips Mammon's head open. But then I realized that Jag's hog is like, 50,000% super visible and highlighted, so I just reiterate: Jag decapitated Mammon, then tore the decapitated head in half before absorbing Mammon's key.
I'm thinking Solomon gave White Chain an aspect of his key to her? I forget what they call it, but I remember the key holders being able to impart some of their keys ability on their followers. No idea why Solomon would do it, but they have the same color energy so I figure it's something like that.

The other option...
Solomon may be on the cover, but that doesn't mean he has to survive the book. If he dies and White Chain gets his key, then that would make sense for everything on the cover.
I'm black, I can say this, but White Chain quite vividly ripped the black off Solomon David, so like, it stands to reason as she is literally flesh of his flesh, there can be some key transference shenanigans. Besides there's gotta be a payoff as she did what no one except a keyholder could do, and landed a hit on him, I could see him using that as a reason to give her the key. Also to keep Jag's from it. I suspect he's on the cover because we'll get a post mortem explanation of why she has it in some sort of mind palace flashback.

abbadon specifically said white chain has always "been" black, and that has nothing to do with her confrontation with Salami Dave
now, as a non-black person I don't know whether or not I can attest to how genuine this statement is, but there are illustrations of White Chain's "humansona" in Abbadon's tumblr all the way back from 2014 where she was portrayed as black
