I don't know what to tell you extremely hostile and frustrated teacher person; if students can't create an account on a particular website on school devices, personal devices, or phones and the ones that can create accounts can't search for the proper things inside because they don't show it's not a school hardware or network problem. Quit telling me I'm wrong while also blaming me for the 3rd party website issues.

One of my librarians has requested the following decoration for a Halloween display:
I made it very clear that I would approve it, but that I wasn't going to defend them when our janky-ass owl is getting roasted by a ten-year-old who just got back from the Museum of Osteology. You know, the bone museum for which we circulate free family passes and which definitely has an owl skeleton without ears.

Well if the 10 year olds are that picky, then just approve this badboy instead:

The conversation did lead to this:
Which in turn led us to the conclusion that to an octopus, the concept of a skeleton is probably pretty horrifying to begin with. Like us encountering a creature and slowly realizing that it's mostly made of teeth.

I bet "BONER" is underlined like 4 times on a whiteboard at every meeting. Half because it's funny and half because they don't realize it should be BONIER.
So an opening on the same team I applied for last year opened up two weeks ago. I found out about it when somebody mentioned in a troubleshooting conversation that a person on that team had moved to a different team. Basically the same job description, at least nothing that jumps out at me as glaringly different.
So I just applied. Hopefully 2nd time is the charm?
I want to meet the people who have to design these and ask what their brief is. "More bones! Maximum bone!"
I feel it's the ideal of what to dinosaurs really look like but the opposite

Library/3D Printing Update:
So the people in charge of the freshmen academy want to have some kind of tokens to give out to the freshmen as rewards for doing stuff outside their normal school that they can exchange for like bags of chips or a hoodie or something. They asked if I could print something that can be reusable. Okay. I spend a while in tinkercad making a coin with the school logo and name and such embossed into it and work on the printers running through different settings and sizes to make them as clean as possible.
Got a result that looks the best using a .20mm nozzle but it takes 28 minutes to print one and I'd need hundreds. It's like 20 cents of material so the cost isn't the issue, but the time.
My building tech mentions how there are 3d print files for DnD coins.
So now I'm going to pitch that because they are cool looking and way easier faster to print. Plus I can have copper, silver, and gold.

28 minutes seems extremely excessive. Like maybe your slicer is having trouble interpreting the gcode?
Admittedly, I don't have first hand experience with 3D printers or slicers and the like. But it feels like you only need a couple layers for the logo to get the embossed look (I assume you are only decorating 1 side). So it should be able to just shave those off and do it like laying down the layers of a cake...
I have a bunch of friends that are huge into 3d printing; I'd love to have them take a look at the files and see how to optimize them.

If you don't have experience with 3D printers, print files will always take longer than you expect with them

Nah, 28 minutes for a silver dollar sized coin seems pretty reasonable on the average 3d printer.
It might be more feasible to do if you do an entire print bed full of them at a time though. Cram 9 to 16 on there and run a batch every evening. It would be a fair bit quicker per piece than doing them individually. Might still be too much of a time investment, but maybe it’s worth checking the math that way just to see.

If I had a 3D printer I wouldn't go for coins at all. That'd be too simple. You could make chess pieces if you wanted, or other small tokens that can be denoted in tiers of value like cards or dice types (d3, d6, d20, etc)

Yeah, I was wondering about that after the fact. I think I was picturing dime or smaller coins in my mind. Silver dollar is.. definitely bigger than that.
I also was thinking about suggesting batch printing, but that basically just eliminates the overhead of having to remove each coin and prepare the printing bed.
... I think the most cost effective and fastest way to do this would be injection molding, but I don't think you have the resources for that. I was going to suggest seeing if your votech folks would be up for doing some metal casting, but.. again, probably not the effort. It would just be a lot more dangerous and a lot more fun.

There is some sick looking color changing metallic ones we could do an even larger coin in. These are sweet looking though. I can print 1800 coppers off one spool. 105 coins per plate. Did an Archimedean spiral on the layers so it looks like polished metal. Gave the examples to the person in charge and she is going to show the teachers.

On a related note, I just installed a new firmware update for my 3D printer and it took the print time for a small item I sell a lot of down from 1h58m to 1h4m, which is bonkers.
Thank god for Bambu putting the fear of god into other printer manufacturers to make their shit print faster.

They are announcing some crazy new printer on Friday, if these images they keep teasing are at all true. And their printers are already crazy.

First time in a business casual environment. Chinos and collared shirt and leather shoes. BOO.
Otherwise it's good I guess.
Need some stuff designed or printed? I can help with that.
Big fans of MK2.
