This guy, in my opinion, is one of the funniest people in America, but nobody seems to notice. His book "The Areas of my Expertise" is one of my all-time favourite books, but it usually seems to get overlooked. For example, the Audiobook version was a free download on iTunes, and for a free download, it was amazing. Hodgman records the entire book along with Jonathan Coulton doing music (he wrote the music for Portal, and is himself hilarious), and yet they needed to make it free to get it out there. Tycho and Gabe don't seem to know about it (this is made apparent by most recent comic title). His segments on the Daily Show are few and far between, yet they are easily the funniest. Am I alone in my opinion of this guy? Why doesn't he get more notoriety? Has anyone else here read his book?

Back to Hodgman, his Daily Show segments are among the funniest ones on the show. His book gets a little bit long at times, but I still keep it on my iTunes and listen to it on long trips. Hilarious.

Economics is often called the "dismal science" after sir Eustace Dismal, who originally put forth the idea to make smokestacks out of children. Which is of course ridiculous, because then who would you get to clean them?
It was actually probably kind of dangerous to be listening to it while driving since I was laughing so hard sometimes.
Oh, and best hobo?
"Black Bolt, King of the Inhumans".
My favorite line is right near the beginning.
"There are only two references to sports in this book. For those interested in sports references, may I refer you to every other aspect of our culture."
I butchered it, but still a great line.
So far (one hour in) it's worth it.
