Vendor sends multiple emails to multiple people in the company not involved in the process about billing. Saying they haven't been paid. Im the person who approves all of them. I get some pointed emails on my day off that I mostly ignore.

Today I review my emails and go through what happened. First off, all of our invoices are Net 30. We received theirs 12 days ago. I signed it and sent it to AP two days later. I reply to AP about how this process went and ask why this is such an immediate issue.

They say they don't have it and were one of the folks I got a sharp email from originally. I point out this invoice is identical to a previous one except for the PO number and are they sure they didn't mix it up and think it was a duplicate? No replies as of yet. I have prepared another signed version anyways for the inevitable request

Holidays really mess with people I guess

God I’d like that problem. Im currently getting emails from vendors saying they are holding orders until overdue invoices are paid, so i get a hold of AP and get notified we aren’t paying invoices until a vendor complains. Some of these shipments are to get clients back up and running in the field! We’ve also had a couple minor vendors drop us from net30 to pay before ship, which is great.

When your finance/ accounting department starts doing this, that means your company is in real financial trouble.

They should do that. Apparently it's a big problem here. Finance says they did a thing and didn't. But we're super iconic so people just let us be bums about paying? It's annoying.

Yea we’ve been slow for almost 6 months and just had a round of layoffs. We have one giant project coming through next year but we’d like a few medium ones in the meantime.

As long as my paychecks still clear. Definitely going to clean up my resume though. Who knows what next year is going to bring in the local market. I just need one more year to be debt free dangit.

Guys I don’t understand the children.

I organised the year nine reward excursion today and we had a party bus on the way there and on the way back.

On the way there I don’t think they played a song that was released past 2016.

On the way back I don’t think they played a single song that I haven’t danced to at the club.

Then at the end of the ride I showed them how to properly lock off a leg to swing around the poles on the bus, because as a teacher it legitimately bugged me that none of them knew how to do it right.

i may have skipped a client because the 3 or more homeless people encamped there would have taken time to move and its a holiday and no one is gonna bitch in that county. Which still deservers purifying flame for the incident on the news.

They only made all of that newer music as a weapon against us, the olds. The kids secretly know it's terrible but pretend it's good as a psyop. It all makes sense now.

So I went to the other school. They sold me pretty hard, and then when I was driving back they called me again and up the offer to be the gifted and talented coordinator and take all the year seven and eight gifted and academic extension classes.

It’s like, not my ideal role. But it’s hard to say no to.

Like, all extension is a lot. They’re a specific type of kid and by the end of the year, it’s really easy to want a break from them.

In reality the original job I applied for was for years 9 to 12 which is a big range of kids and I love the variety that teaching gives.

The kids are going to be nice, and the planning is going to be less. But I love chaos of doing everything it matches my brain. I’m concerned I’ll be under stimulated.

On a similar note, a teen said to me today, when he heard me humming a 50 cent song, “man, Get Rich or Die Tryin is the greatest classic hip hop album ever”

People who say that alcohol doesn't really solve any problems are talking shite, because it's going to solve the problem of me being sober after the fucking farcically stressful day I've had today.

If I go in to work tomorrow and the team all start snickering and someone asks me how I enjoyed their staged and coordinated "stop V1m from actually getting any of his work done the entire fucking day" prank I will not be all that surprised.

Against that eventuality I will be saving this wine bottle so that if required I can make with the smiting.

My 14 year olds favorite band is Oasis. No, that is not a newer band with the same name. Fucking Wonderwall. It never really occurred to me that when you have access to basically your entire cultures musically legacy, it might cause some weird music tastes. He still listens to newer stuff as well but i think streaming is going to have weird effects on generational music tastes.

I don’t disagree, though assumedly these would, according to this Teen, fall under the category of golden oldies

That is one weird/good thing that he internet enables these days musical rabbit holes. Once in a while the algorithm goes odd places music wise but it can allow you to find some stuff that you can enjoy that you otherwise may never have gone looking for.

God I want to punch people who post uncritical praise of Elon Musk on LinkedIn as an example of a top tier executive. LinkedIn clout farming is the dumbest thing.

LinkedIn is the Mos Eisley of social media. Every post that isn't "I'm looking / found work" is the most inane, bland, repetitive engagement farming attempt (I was going to say corporate ass-kissing but I get a lot of anti-RTO stuff) there is. It was bad before AI, it's worse now. Half the time my response to reading something on there is "What the fuck is that word salad supposed to mean?", then closing the app for a week

There are occasionally some beautiful pieces of shitpost performance art

I'm convinced there is a lot more shit posting on there but it's a bit too close to being real that I can't be sure.

Like a post about someone who gave job interviewees a broken chair to see how they would react. Seems like a troll but is the exact thing some jerk boss would do.

Accepted a rural mail carrier job with USPS. I am Not A Morning Person, so I'm just sort of hoping I can grit my teeth and cope with an 8 am start time. I mean, every other time I've tried to work on a "normal" schedule, it's plunged me into a depressive spiral and completely destroyed my quality of life, but hey.

Oh, what's this? Orientation is 8 am to 4:30 pm... 90 minutes away from where I live? Cool, cool.
