The dudes behind Breaking Bad could teach a course about writing impressive openings. I imagine it would go something like "Step 1: Be awesome. Step 2: See step 1."

This most recent episode was just spectacular. On every goddamn level.

And because I've praised every other aspect of this show to high heaven throughout this show, I would also like dish some love out to the BB production design department. The set designs are consistently impeccable (with Tuco's den from this last ep getting especially high marks), the subtle yet undeniable differences in the look of various batches of crystals, the costume design on everyone from yuppies to lowlifes. "Perfect" is really the only word for it.

To Kusu: Writer's strike cut into their production schedule, giving the shortened season. But not to worry, filming starts this summer on a second, 13-episode season.

    Latest episode was fucking sick.
Walt's face on the camera is going to come back and bite him on the ass.

I just got episode six, I am so pumped to watch it. I'm just waiting for my buddy to come over because we watch it together since it is our thing.

It's a damn shame there is only one episode left.

It is a shame that the season is ending already. Episode 6 is really good. You only needed to watch thefirst 20 seconds and youknew it was going to be fuck-awesome.
When Tuco held up Walt's "meth" I thought it looked cloudier then his other stuff and then BAM wasn't meth at all. Pooro mentioned it earlier and he's right about the production quality

    A+

Something I noticed in the most recent episode that's a small detail, but kinda neat to think about. The meth is always talked about in pounds and ounce, imperial measurements. But every other drug out there is on metric, in kilos and grams. But meth is the only drug that started here, and is hardly ever imported or exported.

The fact that Breaking Bad sticks to this is not only an example of their dedication to realism, but also a subtle reinforcement of the "Meth as the American dream" theme that they seem to be hinting at. An entirely American product, relying on ingenuity, that allows low class people to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and enjoy the fruits of capitalism. Horatio Alger as filtered through Hunter S. Thompson.

    You make an interesting point.

For the record though, federal legislation regarding pseudoephedrine-containing products has contributed to vastly increased importation of pseudo and also meth, much of which comes from Mexico.

    They took our jerbs!

that real estate agent just put up an open house sign..and they're cooking in the basement!

this is the season finale though right?

wiki said the writer's strike pushed the number of episodes in season one down to seven from nine

that sucks, i hope it doesn't end on a huge cliff hanger.
