Is it normal to spell the abbreviated form of Nicholas as Nick or Nic?

I hold that it is vulgar and unnatural to omit the K at the end.

Also, this one girl was all, 'Hey what's your name?' as we were in class doing a group project.

    'Nathaniel' I told her

    fucking bitch wrote 'Nat'

I looked at her as said, 'For christ's sake you can't even be bothered to add a fucking E at the end?'

then again, people always say 'Psy-kose' for my last name, or 'See-kose' when it's 'Psy-kis'

My family dropped a syllable in pronunciation from the original Italian but retained the original spelling. It used to be great for catching telemarketers before that racket was mostly shut down by the do-not-call lists.

How would you guys pronounce Schuyler?

    Sky-ler?
Correct. But if you were naming your kid that wouldn't you want to spell it Skylar or Skyler?

This girl was telling me she wanted to name her daughter that and spell it the first way. I told her it was dumb to make someone think about how to pronounce a name if you have a perfectly easy to pronounce alternative.

edit: Basically the same thing Janson has been saying.

Sissy Spacek's Daughter is named Schuyler Fisk. Pronounced Skyler.

    She's a singer.

Also my friend's name is spelled Crystle and she actually gets angry when people misspell it.
People who've never met her. They spell it one of the more normal ways and she yells that them. Like it's not weird that her name has an e at the end.

The worst name I have ever seen was Spechelle.

Nah, though my forum name is the first letter of my first name and the first three letters of my last name, for some reason I use the j. So kind of like "Bee - Badge". I really regret my forum name, its terrible.

I've always liked Jessica too. A lot of people say it is too common but I still like it. I think it would work well as a middle name. Also Ryan for a girl.

edit: Paige is my favorite name for a girl ever.

Jessica Paige has the perfect ring to it but I want Paige to be a first name.

My middle name is a traditional welsh first name. It is very unusual, but wholly ugly and I hate it.

If I wanted to name my kid something unusual I'd call him/her Professor.

There ain't nothing wrong with common names if they're good ones.

Also I only know one Jessica my age.

I know like 3 Jessicas off the top of my head and one of them goes by her middle name. Not too common around here.

My middle name is Christian, which is ironic because I haven't gone to church or even given a thought to religion of any kind in a few years. I doubt I will change it when i am older though.

heh, i'm john christopher.. so i know all about having an exceptionally common name.

i think it's because my dad was the only son in his family who was given a 'traditional' polish name, despite being born in Canada, so he wanted to go the other route entirely with me.
