LOL
No worries, Mustang, when the story´s finished, I´ll signal it with "The End".
Thanks, Mayday, you´re too kind.
You are also very right about the faces, I think deep down I´m a bit affraid to overdo the faces, especialy in my female characters in fear of "breaking the spell".
With Narkissa, the stor´s about to enter a strange territory for me:
I tend to create loners by default. Maybe because I´m a bit of a loner too, I don´t feel quite at home when writing about characters surrounded by oodles of people.
How many hours... that´s kinda hard to say.
Pencils takes me, like, 20 minutes.
I draw very rough, very fast and very loose so as to not constrict the spontaneity of it all.
Inking is where I tend to really slow down.
I try to ink a panel a night.
Let´s see... I finish work at 5a.m., go for a bite (nothing heavy), then stay awake til 7 or 8 digesting that banana/glas of milk/cookie.
I pass those 2 hours either watching old stuff I have recorded but never saw (usualy Inuyasha episodes), playing some Bioshock OR.... drawign Nadra!
So, around half an hour per pannel (depending on the level of detail), around 6 panels a page equals 3 hours. Round that up to 4.
Then 2 hour in Photoshop post work (composing pannels, lettering, adding grayscales...) 6 hours a page.
What? What? That last page confused the hell out of me. Eliseu, could you give us some background to clear up some of the "WTF?" moments?
the Narkissa inside the building was another one of the real Narkissa's dream form things, and she carried the girl whose name escapes me at the moment out of the collapsing building to meet up with the real Narkissa outside, who is chilling with Simon who is apparently reluctantly allying himself with Narkissa and the other girl for what I assume are personal reasons concerning a missing child of his perhaps.
Hey, Wonder Bread, I´m really sorry if this latest page messed thing sup, it´s a recurring problem with me, I can never tell if I am being too expicit or not explicit enough...
But, yeah, it´s kinda like Spectre-x said.
Speaking of which...
Hey, Spectre-x, coolness, you got pretty much most of it right (though you called Nadra "Narkissa" ).
Narkissa is the blonde girl.
About Pendargrave´s motivations, you raised an interesting possibility I toyed with myself right before posting this page.
He isn´t really allying himself to Nadra and Narkissa, more like playing along because he´s just too beaten/broken up right now to mount too much of a resistance.
Nadra doesn´t play with all her marbles and, given her latest "upgrade", he just doesn´t wanna get shoved through a building (again) if he says "-No."
Thanks, Casual Eddy, I´m glad you´re enjoying this webcomic. Actualy, Narkissa was a bonus.
Would it be too awkward for me to say that I still don´t know what are Narkissa´s abilities?
yeah, I was planning to have this second chapter revolve around it (I threw a couple hints on the first with the highschool colleagues and the guy with the flowers bouquet) but I don´t wanna drag that section too much. One, two pages at the most.
Worst case scenario, it´ll bleed into the 3rd chapter - which I want to be all-out action-.
I´m rocking my brain around Narkissa, she´s a crucial part of the story but as a piece of the board, she doesn´t seem to fit anywhere.
I can make Nadra and Pendargrave+Radamant work, I can make Nadra and Narkissa work and I can make Narkissa and Pendargrave+Radamant work.
But I can´t make Nadra, Narkissa and Pendargrave+Radamant work.
Not without turning this into the Teen Titans/X-Men/JLA/whatever.
And I was gunning for Dark Water, not Teen Titans/X-Men/JLA/whatever.
Apparently I got into this way too late. The art is amazing, as been stated time and time again. Wonderful contrast, very explorative perspectives/angles that keep the comic interesting throughout, just awesome.
Being someone who doesn't read too many comics and is easily distracted by good art, I couldn't follow what was going on up to this point. I got lost in the spooky voice overs.
Casual Eddy -Yeah, I wanted to address that in the previous page but it was getting already too wordy and exposition-heavy but Pendargrave and Radamant are part of the covenant who´s linked to the girls in some way that I haven´t figured out how yet.
GurtPerk - Heyas, thanks! Better late than never. I hope you take the time to read the story, I´m actualy having a blast with all these wacky names.
Well, tTime to see what the girls are up to, in their new careers as freeloaders.

I hate you for being able to punch out this level of quality in such a short amount of time.....one page would take me a week to do and still only look half as good.

I am impressed, and sad that I have only just now reached most recent submission. very good stuff

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
LOL
Thanks, Mustang!
In all fairness, though, I only manage to upload so many pages because I don´t really have a life.
Thank you, Munkus Beaver, and welcome to my Lady of the Horde thread.
Glad to have you around and I hope you continue to enjoy this little adventure!
I kinda leaked that Sethos Pendargrave was partialy inspired in Prince Jareth (Labyrinth), so someone asked for either a scenne where he orders his henchmen to "Bring me the Disco King" or one where he puts his finger on Lady Radamant´s lips and says "Oh, baby, you just shut your mouth".
I chose the 2nd one and made a compromise
No, Nadra was NOT in a bathtub with Sethos, that would just be way too icky.
Hey,gredavin. LOL
Thora Birch is kinda off, but you gave me a great idea!
Lady of the Horde CASTING CALL!
if I were to envision someone to play Nadra, I think I´d probably pick an amalgam of Tatyana Ali and a younger Stacey Dash.
Narkissa is a bit harder because of those eyes, I need someone who can switch between a prankster and a hustler like this!
<- snaps fingers
EDIT: I want her to have Colbie Caillat´s voice. For Nadra, I want Corinne Bayley´s voice. What can I say, I like girls with sweet, warm voices.
Dunno what voice Radamant would have but I´d like her to have a slight accent.
For Pendargrave (I GOTTA give this guy a first name :P ) I initialy though of Jimmy Cagney´s face (the nose, especialy) with Tyler Mane´s build and Jeremy irons´voice. Is that even doable?
David Bowie for Sethos Pendargrave.
Lady Radamant..... oboy. I don´t think human biology has even reached the evolutionary stage where it´s able to create someone like Afra. :P
It kinda works like Nadra´s "Look at what I´ve got" trick.
Either an yet-unreleased videogame or a baby glove, you see what you want to see.
In Aeron´s case (YES! He gots a name finally!), it was his brother.
They have the same hairstyle but they´re not twins.
Sethos is a bit thin and......pretty
Aeron is rugged and muscular (I always think of Cagney when I´m drawing him).
I still haven´t decided who´s taller but I think it´d be funny if Aeron was actualy shorter than Sethos, kinda like Wolverine - short but feisty-.
From now on, everytime you see either Nadra wearing extra large clothes, just assume that she borrowed them.

Hey, thanks, Devices, not a bad idea.
He would have to buff up a bit, though, gain a couple pounds worth of muscle mass.
Aeron is build like most classic superheroes, big and muscular.
Is there any place you've posted this story that it's all combined into a single webpage? I love this story but find it really is hard to follow when there is a page here or there.
Casual Eddie - Yeah, that guy´s a chameleon, I´m sure he could pull an awesome Aeron Pendargrave.
His transformation skills remind me a bit of Rober t de Niro.
Now we´re left with who´d play Lady Radamant.
If Keira Knightley had Monica Belluci´s body the agility of a Hong Kong martial artist actress and Michelle Rodriguez´s feistyness, she´d be a shoe-in.
Gredavin - I´m making Lady of the Horde up as I go, so it´ll be a while til everything´s done. But I do post the pages I finish in imany places: my website etherlair, Deviantart and Comicspace.
Check it out and let me know if it works for you
Thanks, Devices, that part was kinda easy to pull.
Recently, I´ve discovered that cute kids can make the creepiest expressions and now I´m trying to emulate that.
Nadra - warm, sweet, frail like a piece of porcelain that could shatter if you even looked at it
Narkissa - husky, with a sort of spectral timbre to it. I always think of the music in the credits of Se7en when I´m typing her lines.
Aeron Pendargrave - rugged, grave, lots of bass, this guy is all man, baybee!
Sethos Pendargrave - complete opposite to his brother, pure cockney and smarmy
Lady Radamant- - commanding, with a slight eastern european accent
Terry Pratchett describe the horseman Pestilence's voice as sounding like liquid dripping out of a coffin that's been left out too long. That's what the speech bubbles remind me of.
Oh and I might not be buff in any sense but I realized with some hair gel (I was just in a musical) I look a little bit like one of the pendargraves.
Hey, Casual Eddy, that´s a great description.
Unsettling, too...
And yeah, you could definitely pass as a third Pendargrave brother (who says there had to be only two of them? ), the hair is spot on and you sure got the gaze down peg.

Just out of interest, how many hours do you put in to each page on average?

Don't be embarassed elisue, I toy with myself all the time.
Anywho there are some webcomics I check periodically - this is now one of them. Keep up the good work!
No worries, all in good fun. :P

Did any of that actualy make sense?
I'm guessing the pendargrave with the ladies is related to the pendergrave with radamant

edit: i've been reading this thread since you put it up... i really like your work! keep it coming!
He would have to buff up a bit, though, gain a couple pounds worth of muscle mass.
Aeron is build like most classic superheroes, big and muscular.
he went from emaciated and corpse like in The Machinist to big and beefy in Batman Begins in a few months.
Also, you should print it so I can buy one.
His transformation skills remind me a bit of Rober t de Niro.

I had to go back and forth a bit trying to decide what types of games Narkissa would like to play.
i love narkissa's expression/fighting pose in the fourth part, she looks very fearsome!
Recently, I´ve discovered that cute kids can make the creepiest expressions and now I´m trying to emulate that.
just out of pure curiousity: how do you picture the two heroines sounding?
i'm mostly wondering about narkissa, since she always has the creepy lined speech bubbles, hehe
Nadra - warm, sweet, frail like a piece of porcelain that could shatter if you even looked at it
Narkissa - husky, with a sort of spectral timbre to it. I always think of the music in the credits of Se7en when I´m typing her lines.
