What if the ship Spidey is the real deal? All those costumes look to be about late 70s, early 80s era to me...

    Spidey wasn't married back then.

Makes you think about where they were going with 'Brand New Day', huh?

Oh christ and the Clone Saga.

oh man... they don't really have the balls to do that... do they?

    On "He Loves You"
I can't help but think of Hulkling here
If they were actually willing to go that far with Spidey, then I think they'd also be willing to do what that supposed spoiler said they were going to do to Nick Fury. Still, I'm not going to jump to any conclusions just yet. Play it cool.

If they were going to make Spider-Man a Skrull they wouldn't have wasted thier time with the Mephisto fiasco.

Unless Mephisto was never actually Mephisto in the first place. The Skrulls have their own gods and mystics on their side, afterall.

They could've made Mephisto part of a hallucination fed into Parker's mind while in stasis to keep him pacified while they steal his life. It would've made sense too, if you believe that MJ is the one person who Peter knows so well that it'd be impossible to simulate her. He knows Aunt May well too, granted, but he'd be willing to overlook certain flaws simply because he's glad to have her back.

But they're definitely not going this route.

Apparently she finds Resurrection Man and asks if she can kill him until he gains the power to cure cancer, but she soon realizes that she cannot kill a man, even if he's a resurrecting man.

Also, the interpretation used for representing Resurrection Man is out of character, IMHO.

The writer turned him into a complete and total douche.

    Par for course for Supergirl.

Because even with an abyssmal story, poorly developed character, and near total lack of interest by most comic fans, it still sold 34,000 copies in February. Imagine how it would do if DC actually tried to make something of the book.

that is possibly the best marvel series (in terms of consistancy, art, storyline, character development and originality) since the 90s

I'd agree it's the best Spider-Man incarnation since Stern/DeFalco/Frenz left the character.

No trades, so it's either Hardcovers or Digests.

Also, the book's kind of shallow.

It's better if, during Spider-Man's various super-heroics, you find yourself wondering what Mary Jane is doing. Is she perhaps battling villains of her own, in the form of insecurities and self-doubt?

    But that's not why I read Spider-Man
I read it because here's a guy that is constantly kicked in the metaphorical crotch and still gets up every day and goes out and saves people and makes witty jokes while he does it.

You'll have to refer to it as Bitches Love Spider-Man. Otherwise you'll feel like a 13 year old girl whenever you read it and probably feel awkward going up to the counter with your purchase. I love it, but damn do I hate admitting it for some reason. It's like watching She-ra instead of He-Man as a kid and changing the channel whenever someone comes in. DONT JUDGE ME!

It is a fun comic though. Basically, it's different continuity with everyone of Spidey's ladies in one book. Gwen, Mary Jane, Liz Allen, Firestar, Felicia Hardy, etc all fall to the Parker charm. It's more about the high school life with Spider-Man as a backdrop and is usually focused on Mary Jane or Peter instead of the typical villain of the week slugfest.

It actually starts in Mary Jane, a 4 or 5 parter thats been collected, then continues in Mary Jane: Homecoming, similar mini-series style that's collected, and then gets its own series in Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane. You also get awesome "throw Gwen from a bridge" jokes. I love the series, but it's probably a love it or hate it book. Byrne a few pages of the trade on the shelf and decide for yourself is my advice.
    mjgwenbridgewu0.jpg

And I didn't mean it was the best ever, just chiming in it's good in its own right and that USM isn't the only good spidey thing since the 70 and 80s.

I really liked this as well. It's weird thinking of the character as Shazam instead of Captain Marvel, but oh well.

I hope this leads to some more exploration of the magic side of the DCU.

KVW: i used the qualifier of "possibly the best". Spidey loves MJ is the cutest comic and thats nothing to say of its consistently above average art and interesting take on old characters for a new gen.

not exactly MOTW, but i juwas tanted to talk about cable
why is he acting like such a puss? im not gonna dig the "he's carrying a baby" excuse.
