I understand why they've pushed the game back so often, but it's been so long since it's been announced that I'm starting to lose interest. I can't be the only one who has become a bit apathetic about it because of how long it's taken.
Yes you are. The every day the beta doesn't come means that tomorrow is more likely and they even have unveiled the fuck awesome preorder thing and have like 5 hours of new presentations up.
Btw, I made a mid Minotaur Mauler on gareth with the name "luckycynic"

See, the problem isn't how long they have taken, it's how early they started their marketing machine. They have only been in development for like, 2.5 years now, thats not all that long for an mmo.
Btw guys, there is a new tutorial thingy. basically its a very indepth tutorial on the game, it started as very brief, but they have made it a semi whole zone separate from the rest of the game. if you guys want, we can play there for a while or go back to the normal mainland where shit really gets good and dangerous.
EDIT: And am I the only one actually in the game now? XP
...it takes absolutely no time to hit max level. The game is all about RvR.
Oh dang.
Downloading the trial, these words are magical.
It's really true though. Basically now leveling up is pretty much the tutorial and learning play styles and exploring and then whoo! A month later of casual play and you are level 50.
There is also the free level thing. basically all that is when you don't level up in like 2 or 3 RL days, you go in game and *boop* "You are ready for a free level, talk to your trainer to receive it" and basically you level up instantly for free.
I really dig how DAoC is now sort of a retro game. ^^
The patches took awhile, but I'm into the game now. Just need to decide race/class.
Do the hybrid classes still suck? I'm kinda leaning toward a Thane but when last I played they were basically just crappy warriors, their magical abilities not really adding anything.
i'm downloading now, too. haven't really talked to you guys much, but im interested in the 6mouths guild for war, so might as well hang out a bit in DAoC, though I've never played. Always wanted to, though..
Part of me wants to play WAR blindly and stumble through quests and tome unlocks without checking the equivelant of thottbot.
But I know deep down it will come to the point where I will have to research everything and track down all the tome unlocks for the best tactics/rewards etc.

Take the DAoC chat to another thread. This one is about Warhammer, not DAoC.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
So does movement play a part in WAR combat? Most videos I've seen, everyone just stands still hitting each other, which doesn't look very dynamic. I don't want it to be like WoW, where everyone's running around all over the place, and I most certainly don't want a heavy focus on kiting or other stun/movement imparing effects, but I do want to be able to circle strafe while fighting a dude and the like.

All creature will die and all the things will be broken. That's the law of samurai.
Well from a lot of the pvp (RVR I guess) movies I've seen of WAR has just as much movement as WoW PVP, but the big difference is that, from what I understand, you can't run THROUGH the other players, so that limits movement somewhat.
Yeah, collision detection is this games big selling point. Chokepoints will now actually, ya know, choke?
Also, Paul Barnette has said that there is a possibility that Australian servers will be available on release. WOOT! All my dicks are preparing to come should this develop into reality.
What god/s should I sacrifice animals to or sell my soul to for results?

It does take a large part. The movies they've released (like the massive "everyone stand and fight while we pan around" video) don't really capture this at all.
edit: As of my minimal playtime a year ago. They could have removed things like range and positional attacks since then.

This could mean either: (a) The servers could be physically located in Australia or (b) Done in the same way WoW handled oceanic realms.

I think. I don't know for sure though. But just to make things easier, lets everyone join up on to Gareth.
So have we decided Gareth/Midgard then?

Probably. But that's at least two days that I'm not playing WoW instead.

Shit, that's really rough.

Just be sure you are able to participate in the tutorial thing, I am in the first town, I doubt you can miss me.
Or David Kolia...
That's me.
Nope.
The UI looks completely different, eek!
HOLY crap.
That thing will consume SO much of my time. I'm gonna be looking for shit all the fucking time.

God damn power gaming.
EDIT: Oh God the DAoC updater is downloading at 32 kb/s. What the fuck is wrong with my connection.
