AQUA LEUNG is out this week!

Hi everybody, this is Mark Andrew Smith and this last Wednesday AQUA LEUNG. AQUA LEUNG is an ambitious project from that I'm very proud of on all levels. Every review we've gotten this week has been shining and glowing and we even got on boing boing this week. If anyone is on the fence PM me and I'll send you a low res PDF of the book to check out to see if it's for you, if you like it buy it for your bookshelf. But just delete it after you're done reading it and don't let it get around.

http://www.boingboing.net/2008/04/10/aqua-leung.html

Aqua 208 page full color original graphic novel, from Image Comics, by Mark Smith & Paul Maybury, that you can read in one sitting with a story from beginning to end.

Paul Maybury is on art, Russ Lowery does the colors, and Steven Finch (Fonographics) is on letters.

As most of you know we've been working on this book for a very long time and now it's out and into the world for us to share with you and for everyone to read.

AQUA LEUNG is a moody and epic underwater story about a boy with a very big destiny and huge shoes to fill -- TO BECOME THE TRUE RULER OF THE 7 SEAS!!!

Aqua is a real real tough cookie who's got to do battle with some real monstrous villains! This kid has tremendous responsibility put on him as he sets out to fulfill his avenging task. He starts off unsure of himself but has to learn the ropes quickly or else it's curtains for him!

Each Sea Kingdom in Aqua's world is ruled by a different over sized despot who betrayed Aqua Leung's father, and when Aqua conquers a Sea Kingdom, he doesn't just conquer it -- HE DESTROYS IT! With each boss Aqua defeats, Aqua gets a magic scepter that makes him grow even more powerful and closer to his true form.

AQUA LEUNG has got it all. It's a complete thrill ride all the way -- full of adventure! Intrigue! Betrayal! Epic battles! Lobster Fighters! A vicious Crab King and Giant Eels! It's everything you've always wanted from a comic book and more!

Paul Maybury calls AQUA LEUNG "A Wolf in Indy Clothing," and I'd say that's damn accurate! AQUA LEUNG is a furious example of comics in their purist from -- yet also like you've never seen before!

The BEST way to pick it up where you're guaranteed to be able to get it is on Amazon and they're GUARANTEED to have it. I'd like to see it as #1 on the list of Image Comics books in rankings for Amazon this week:

http://www.amazon.com/Aqua-Leung-Mark-Andrew-Smith/dp/1582408637/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1207749419&sr=8-1

There's also a release Party for Aqua Leung in New York on the 15th that I won't be able to make because I live in South Korea. But Paul Maybury will be there on hand to kiss babies and sign autographs. Here's the flyer and the information for the party:

Then here's a whole lot of press about Aqua Leung:

Thanks DarkPrimus! Writing the next volume is going to be a bit scary to try to do because I have to top what we did in the first one.

Well I'm going to give the first volume another read or two and then I'll try to put up a non-spoiler review and a spoiler-filled critique.

Getting people to talk about the book and take notice is important and the power of word of mouth is strong so I'd be grateful if you would. It would be awesome of you and thanks!

I'm flat broke right now, but I will hopefully get this with birthday money in a couple of weeks. It looks really cool.

Depending on how much money I get, I plan on getting this, vol 2 of Gyakushu and the first two volumes of the Amazing Joy Buzzards. Somewhere somehow I must get Scott Pilgrim too.

Save your money on the first two volumes of Amazing Joy Buzzards and wait for next month when there's the director's edition on March 7th. It's a much more focused collection of the first two volumes in a new 300 page volume and in the Sin City Digest sized format.

Gyakushu is an amazing book. Popgun Volume 2 is out in early July and this one knocks the pants off the first one which was pretty dang good if I do say so myself. Paul Pope did the cover and they're going to show the cover and announce it at New York Comic Con. How did you find out about that?

Corey Lewis mentioned it on his blog when he posted some pages from the new Pinapl

I hope I didn't just get him in trouble...

It has a bit of extras but it doesn't have any of the guest stories and most of the original volume 2 was guest material with about two issues and a half that Dan did that were continuity. I think we're going to try to repackage a lot of the guest material down the line and collect it so that it matches up more with the new volumes. But the new one is straightforward of all the continuity issues so the story is more directed and focused as a whole without jumping around too much. This is a drawback in some ways because you don't' get to read El Campeon's origin story and you miss the Jim Mahfood and Dave Crosland issue. But I think it's okay to wait for those, this one coming up is sweet.

It's out in a month on May 7th. My brain was tired so I wrote March by accident.
