I didn't think Brick was bad, but I had a lot of trouble following the dialogue.
It really could've used some subtitles, is what I'm saying.
I love Brick and I have the same problem.
I will often go back and watch a scene again and still not understand what he's saying. The dialogue is difficult enough without the actors slurring their words and talking so quickly. They just need to enunciate more. Probably my only gripe with the movie.
Well that's what I'm saying, really. They muttered through a lot of it.
And I've only seen it in a theater, not on DVD, so there's that.
edit: I fail doublely. Not only didn't I bother to check Amazon in the first case, since I was pretty sure it was out, but I didn't even bother to check the like Virum posted.

I'm going to go ahead and hearily agree with the OP. The Matador was also pretty good. The contrived silliness was awesome. And The Rundown. Kind of an old movie but it passed me by when it was in theaters and it's an awesome out-and-out awesome action flick.

I agree that it is fantastic, but I am more of a Con Air man myself. That one was way more fun than it deserved to be.
Let's face it though, the Bruckheimer action flicks of the 90's were mostly pretty sweet. Yeah, I liked Armageddon, wanna fight about it?
And True Lies is still one of my favourite guilty pleasures.
For some reason Con Air just really grated on me, I couldn't get into it. But you redeem yourself by mentioning True Lies, which was excellent, so we're good to go.
edit: Wait, you also liked Armageddon. Hmmm, normally I'd have to bitch, but The Rock and True Lies are just such perfect action movies I'll let it slide.
Death to Smoochy's good parts all involve Robin Williams
the mob goons have a few good lines.
Tommy: This I guarantee: That fuckin' Randolph has seen his last rainbow. We're going to find him, cut off his balls, and shove 'em up his ass.
Sheldon: Well, maybe we should leave that for the cops, Tommy.
Roy: Cops won't do the ball thing, it's against procedure.
made me giggle a bit.
the musical bits are pretty good too, even smoochy's

I've wanted to see that ever since I saw the trailer for it on my Holy Grail DVD, but I can never find it anywhere and I'm too cheap to order it online.
Why the hell did everyone hate Death to Smoochy? That movie was brilliant.
I've wondered that as well. Near as I can determine, it's just a hit or miss kind of movie. Robin Williams style of humor also doesn't resonate with everyone.
Hey what about Secondhand Lions? Robert Duvall and Michael Caine are awesome, and Haley Joel Osment is...definitely in it. But it's a fun little fantastical dealie.
Also the Hallmark Merlin TV movie was introduced to me during early childhood so I love it by default. Martin Short is pretty neat in it, and Sam Neil makes a cool Merlin.
The entire movie takes place in one room and manages to be one of the most unnerving things I have ever seen. It also makes it really hard to not hate Snape in the Harry Potter movies....
Hot italian chick beats the crap out of everyone, ties some poor bastard to a chair, then masterbates. Genius.

See it. I saw it in the theater as a young kid, and that plus Big Trouble in Little China were my favorite movies at the time. Still are, actually.

With no disrespect to Bruckheimer, the golden era of action movies occurred in the 1980s. And among the best of those, only one can be champion:
Ridiculous, ridiculous excess. Just as an action movie should be. Excessive body count, amazingly camp post-mortem one liners, and Rae Dawn Chong. He kills 138 people in four minutes, murdering some with gardening implements. This movie is hilarious and I never tire of it.
My favorite underrated movie was Irreversible. It's presented in reverse time, and has 2 scenes of absolutely brutal beatings. Those 2 scenes are enough for the whole movie, however because in one [spoiler:266d9fcf36]a guy gets his head pounded to a pulp by a fire extinguisher[/spoiler:266d9fcf36] and in the other [spoiler:266d9fcf36]there is a 9 minute, single shot, one angle rape scene where at the end the rapist boots her head into a wall.[/spoiler:266d9fcf36]
Not everybody's cup o' tea, but I enjoyed it.

We'll have to agree to disagree (but that's ok, because this is one of those fights everyone wins), because I do love me some 90s action films. A bit less over the top violence, but the extra level of polish and the modern finish on most of the movies makes up for it.
Either way, both the 80s and the 90s are a gold mine of great entertainment.
I absolutely love these movies. They're a great mix of science and humanity, but it seems that not many people have ever heard of them. Yay for awesome high school science teachers.

I'll wait for confirmation from someone else, but I really was sure it was on DVD too.
I know there was a UK bootleg floating around for awhile, but it looks like Amazon has a real one listed.
I'll be ordering that this week.
Damn skippy it's on DVD

I've never seen Death to Smoochy but it looked interesting.
That movie's awesome.

Personally, I find it rather hilarious, and I've never even watched it stoned.

I second that on Memento, is freaking awesome!!
yeah, but who doesn't think that?
it's not obscure or anything.
"My stepdad's not mean, he's just adjusting!"
The Machinist - Christian Bale
Duets - I think I am the only person alive who likes this movie.
The Virgin Suicides
The Ghost and the Darkness
Adventures of Baron Munchausen
And sometimes even if it didn't. Like, I'm pretty sure there's a DVD of It's Pat!.
...and Manos: The Hands of Fate.

:^: Man, I still love that movie. Of course, it's not exactly underrated: It did gross $378,882,411.
