I was board today at work so I decided to redo my PA avatar, with nothing but MS Paint as my medium I decided to make a PA style character.
The following is the result:
For complete honesty, the background was created in PowerPoint. I am actually happy how this turned out! If you see something that is wrong in the picture please let me know.
I would actually like to see everyone else's MS Paint work.
i'm curious as to how you saved a file done in ms paint as a png
also when you zoom in there is aliasing which suggests that it was done in flash or illustrator... either that or you are a robot with the patience and skill to edit each pixel's opacity to make the lines appear smooth, or you're just straight up full of shit and wasting our time.
you're not a robot, you simply used a piece of software that does those meticulous calculations for you, which leaves us with the obvious "you are full of feces, good sir" response.
which begs the question... why the hell would you lie about doing something in ms paint?
like, is it supposed to make us think you're better than you actually are because you did it pixel for pixel?
because it's still a pretty generic, boring character drawing, whether it was done in paint or flash.
I am curious as to how you got those clean curves in MS Paint.
You can do curved lines, you know. I'm more interested in how he did the gradient.
In the OP I said that I used PowerPoint for the background, but you can still get a gradient effect by using the technique above, it does take a long, long time to do tho.
That wasn't meant do be a dig (completely). The polished PA guy is polished, but doesn't have the energy, urgency or downright personality of the little scribble doodle.
Wow people were right about this sub forum being a weee bit pessimistic. GJ!
I have to admit that I didn't believe the first image was done in mspaint. That being said, it would have been more constructive to ask how you did it rather than come up with our own answers (beavotron). Also, people have a tendency to rough around the edges to anyone new.
Take it in stride. I swear we aren't all assholes.
Behold, the unholy alchemy of image blending with MSPaint.
You make the grid/checkerboard pattern, copypaste it onto the first pic you want to blend so its white spaces are transparent. Then you copypaste the new checkered image onto the second image you want to blend, making sure that the background transparency in the new paint window is set to the same color as the checker/grid.
At least, I -think- that's the process. I'll have to test it out a couple more times.
Be careful, sometimes saving the image changes the color used for the checkerboard, if the board is overlaid on something. It's best to do it all in one go without saving.

You make a diagonally bisected square and fill each triangle with what you want to blend. Stretchskew it to one pixel wide, then stretchskew it back to however wide you need.

Dude let me say I have been trolling on your art topic for a few days now, I really enjoy your style man. Have you explored other 'classic' mediums yet?

I think he means "trawling". Yeah, Vathris, if you'd been trolling Projeck's thread, then you would have been making jackass posts just to get a reaction.
The only other mspaint trick I got up my sleeve is custom brushes.
First make a shape, I made a S-thing. Make sure the selection thing is set to background-transparent, then make the box around the shape. Hold shift and drag it around, and you're leaving trails of crap!
This can also be used to "stamp" whatever you have selected repeatedly. Just stop painting with it, and drag it to where you want to stamp it. Hold shift, left click once, and release shift, and you'll have stamped it.
Edit; Oh wait, yeah I remember another. When using the preset brushes, Ctrl and + or - on the numpad can change the brush size.
I guess it could have applications where you want to imply perspective?

The sequence of this thread is an absolute conundrum.
So I guess I'm a super genius, 'cause I realized that he resized the picture right away.

I think he went to save as>drop down list> PNG
Riposte my friend!
I drew the pic three times as what you see above and then shrunk it to get the fake "antialiased" look.
It's really easy!
Here look:
Start of by making your canvas 3x the size you want your finished work to be.
Paint, draw sketch your image and then go to: Image->Stretch/Skew
Tada! you now have fake "antialiasing"
Take Care,
Vathris

Pity I can't do mouseart to save my life.
