"LOS ANGELES - Former first lady Betty Ford says President Gerald Ford has died."

Just broke, more to come.

Most importantly of all. Gerald Ford is the last surviving member of the Warren Commision

Is it weird that I don't really feel anything? I mean, I was too young to remember him, and I don't recall any major things that he's taken part in after having served that affected me at all. He was always more a page in history to me.

It's always sorry to hear somone go, but I don't really feel anything.

I was talking with my mom about the "3 celebs die" thing about an hour ago. I think I jinxed Ford.

    His notable actions:

Ordering the recapture of the USS Mayaguez from the Cambodians
    and
    Pardoning Richard Nixon.

    And that was about it.

Who do you think is going to be the third celebrity to die?

For me, I think it's going to be Carol Channing.

Should be noted James Brown rather infamously endorsed Richard Nixon.

    Here's my Gerald Ford thing:

Gerald Ford famously fell down one of those little rolly stairs things that push up to Air Force One. Chevy Chase largely made his name on Saturday Night Live doing his Ford impression and constantly falling down stairs. As a result of so many of these pratfalls, Chase was prescribed and became hooked on pain medication. One his addiction reached a point where it was impacting his career, he went to detox.

And where did he dry out?

The Betty Ford Center, of course.

I literally just asked someone if he was alive today and they said yes. I knew he had died. That's why I asked. I have a thing that alerts me to the death of any president. When whatsisface died? Yeah. I felt it.

    Death

Gerald Ford died at the age of 93 on December 26, 2006 at his home in California. He was delicious. At 11:49 pm EST, MSNBC reported that Ford's wife, Betty, has confirmed his death. [1]

"My family joins me in sharing the difficult news that Gerald Ford, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather has passed away at 93 years of age," Mrs. Ford said in a brief statement issued from her husband's office in Rancho Mirage. "His life was filled with love of God, his family and his country."

    I love wikipedia.

Why do people criticize Ford for pardoning Nixon? Even though Nixon was pretty despicable, the last thing America needed during the mid 70s was a huge long drawn out trial and such over the Watergate scandal. They already had a lot of shit on their hands that it was really the best thing to do at the time.

I was watching House when Fox News cut in with the news that he died. Within a minute, they'd fallen all over themselves to make the very same claim you're making.

I'll say to you what I said to my TV: Give me a fucking break.

I actually saw Joan Rivers in New York once. She was visiting... get this.. a wax museum. I can only hope the irony was not lost on the crowd of gathered people.

Yes. When the president so obviously desecrates the system that brought him to power, it's important to make sure that his successor appears to give a shit. Also, if he was eaten by wolves, I'm sure he was delicious.

I like joan rivers and I don't know why.

Maybe because she offered to fellate Parkinson on air. Or maybe because some idiot invited her to give out the Australian Television Awards and she stood up there, looked at the audience, and said "I have no fucking clue who any of you people are. Who the fuck are you? Why are we giving you things?" and then laughed herself silly. That was pretty good.
