OK, my roommate and three of my friends were driving and discovered this little treasure huddled in the middle of the road. We are trying to guess what type of dog she is, and also how old she is. My roommate is taking her to the vet tomorrow, but speculation would be good, as we're curious as hell. At any rate, she is adorable.

Name suggestions are always welcome, too.

Oh, and I took these pictures in a hurry and they're black and white, but she is a very light tan.

    Maybe three months, tops.
Lots of hound in there, maybe some boxer or pit/staff. At that age, with floppy ears and short hair it can be hard to tell.
I would have picked up myself.

Awwwwwwwww!!! hah, sorry, I'm a sucker for puppies
I'm also horrible at naming them. Our last dog was Roxy though (I didn't name her, golden retriever, friendliest most awesomest dog ever). I vote for naming her something from a video game, like Yuffie or Penelo or Aeris or Tifa or Rikku.... *cough* I like FF, shush

She looks like a pittie or a pit mix, in which case, make sure you socialize her well with other dogs while she's still young, and get her fixed ASAP.

I like two-syllable names for dogs, personally. She looks like a Zelda or a Honey to me. Alternate suggestion: Amelia.

Looks more like a Yellow Labrador to me. I'd say if you found it in the middle of the road before it got hurt or worse - Lucky might be a very fitting name.

I think that considering the circumstances that he was found, the name lucky should be in the runnings.

I'll tell you what type of dog she is.

    The fucking adorable type.

I second (third? fourth?) the Pit Bull mix vote. Maybe Pit/Lab.

    I'd name her Anna.

Name her after the street you found her on. Minus the "Avenue" or "Boulevard" tag.

Totally looks like a lab-mix with possibly pit or boxer. It's a bit to tell at this stage.

I always come into these "name dog threads" with one suggestion:

"Kahn" for when it eventually runs away, and you can run about the neighborhood yelling "KAHHNNNN" with good reason.

OMG adorableness! *dies of cute overload*

It could very well have some boxer in it, I'd say, personally. In my experience, regardless of what you name the dog you'll end up with half a dozen "nicknames" for it anyways. Like my folks have a dachshund named Harlequinne, but I call him Huckleberry or Hucky-puck....stuff like that.

True enough. My dog is Liza, so she quickly became Bean (like lima bean), sometimes Beans, and from there to Marine. Also she's been known as Bub, Bubba, Bum, Booba, and other variations.

I always think that ideal dog names have 2 syllables and end with a vowel.

That said, I love the idea of using the street name.

The street name is, indeed, a cool idea. Unless it's like "New Jersey Turnpike"... then... well....

I am petless at the moment, but my parent's animals are: Slick the cat (aka KittehMeow), Reko (aka Bubby, Goober, Reek, and Boy-the boxer), Harlequinne (the wiener dog- aka Huckleberry, Hucky-puck, Huck, Bratwurst), Hogan (another wiener dog- aka Hoagy, Sammich, Buns), Harmonie (yet another wiener dog-aka Money, Monie-Monie, Wiggles, Squishy).

Putting all those down made me giggle...so suffer through my pet's names and their cheesy nicknames! :D

Probably a cross, but it's got to be at least half Labrador. Just look at the eyebrows.

As for a name, well, you are on the PA forums, so someone was bound to suggest it, and it might as well be me:

    OK,

so we actually ended up naming her Dulce. As in Dulce de Leche, because she was that color. I didn't name her, though.

We took her to the vet and they said she maaaay have parvo, which can cost upwards of $600 to treat, apparently. She was undernourished, so nursing her back to health either way would have cost quite a bit, requiring IVs and all. Shoot. So we took her to another local vet's office that nurses puppies and dogs back to health, and then puts them up for adoption. We couldn't afford to keep her ourselves, which sucks because she was so sweet. I think we're gonna go visit her this week sometime, so hopefully she'll be looking better.

Oh, and the vet said she looks about 8 weeks old, and she's probably a mix, but is mostly yellow lab.

It's always sad to have a sick puppy, but even worse to get rid of it. :*(
