Because there's no motivation like an arbitrary date!
So, are you making any resolutions for 2007? How realistic are they? Share them and other PA'ers might try them out with you. In the words of Tenacious D, that's fucking teamwork.
Here's what I've come up with so far:
Exercise more, eat better. Losing weight will hopefully be a positive side effect. I figure doing cardio at least 3 times a week, and some lifting, along with smaller meals more often, will get some good results.
Write things down. I've felt very unproductive recently, and I think a good way to remedy this would be to jot down all the ideas I have when they come to me. I'll be purchasing some Moleskine notebooks for this purpose.
Code something non-trivial. I need to start creating a portfolio of my work if I ever want to get hired by a good tech company, so I'm thinking hacking on open-source software or writing a game would be good practice. Languages I want to learn are C#, Python, Ruby, Haskell, and relearn Lisp.
Find a good summer job or internship. I don't know if this is so much a resolution as a goal, but I still really need to get on this. If anyone knows good opportunities in the Columbus, OH area (or paid summer internships anywhere), let me know.
Your turn! Oh, and I almost forgot my other New Year's resolution:
I will buy a weight bench, and I will use it.
I will cut my debt by at least 33%.
I will resume snowboarding lessons.
I will obtain a level 9999 majin and Yoshitsuna in Disgaea 1.
Feral on
every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.
I will watch Transformers, Spiderman 3 and The Simpsons at the theater this year.

I will start working out again, regularly.
I will endeavor to be a better student.
I will reduce my overall debt.
I will stop killing hookers. Or at least kill less of them.
I will try to do well at Uni.
I will read more.
I will maintain a healthy body and mind.
I will kill Michael Bay.
I will laugh and marvel at Sony's continuous fuck ups.
I will practise music everyday.
I will walk everyday.
I will study everyday.
I will work for happiness, both in myself and in my immediate surroundings.
I will read more.
I resolve to find a solution to the situation in Iraq that simultaneously pleases the far right, far left, libertarians, environmentalists, liberals, conservatives, vegans, feminists, europeans, euro-trash, the Iraqis, squirrels, centrists, weight-lifters, democrats, intellectuals, my pet cat, the Kurds, the Israelis, the indigenous people of New Zealand, republicans, Richard Dawkins, Spinal Tap, Asians, Atheists and myself.
Edit: Now that you all realize that I'm a bumbling idiot, I'll give a serious resolution in a feeble attempt to redeem myself.
I resolve to loose weight and eat better, also to be a better person to my family and friends.

[spoiler:c4ea747952]I love math so much but 12th grade calc was kind of a kick in the nuts. It was badly taught, so I like to blame it on that...but really I think I was only meant to be able to do medium-level algebra.[/spoiler:c4ea747952]

I just need to spend a little time to learn it and do the homework.
I could be doing really well, but I'm lazy and have a shit grade to prove it.

You just described my two friends in my calc class.
They got WoW, and I didn't. In the end, the sum of both their marks was slightly less than mine.
Another resolution: I will continue to not play WoW.
•I will open a savings account and put approximately as much into it monthly as I have been paying back to my parents montly since I graduated (and have now paid off in full).
•I will take care of this frigging PND that's been bothering me for lord knows how long (and already have a doctor's appointment set for the 4th).
•I will lose another five pounds of fat, but regain that weight in muscle
•I will begin running at least once a week when not sick, ultimately aiming to run a marathon in '08, if not this year.
•I will ask a certain female out, if only to lunch.
That'll do it for now, anyway. A bunch of reasonable things, and one long shot.
-Buy maximum of one game a month
-Save $15,000 by the end of the year which I will only be able to do if I
-Get a higher paying job
-Move into a nicer apartment
-Figure out what I'm going to do with my life
I will start working out again, regularly.
I will endeavor to be a better student.
I will reduce my overall debt.
I will stop killing hookers. Or at least kill less of them.
For me, quitting WoW automatically brought these. Well, except the last one. I still kill them.
Anyway:
* I will get an above 3.5 GPA every quarter
* I will work out more often and have a better-looking body by summer
* I will double the size of my social circle by next Christmas
* I will get better at time management (not procrastinating, multi-tasking, etc.)
* I will cut the time I spend on online forums by at least a half
* I will work more actively on gaining better-looking friends with benefits
