"Well, I should've figured it was somethin' like that, Waric," Seth said, still grinning. "I'll see what I have laying around, but you had better damn well buy a drink for your crew, am I right?"

He gave a knowing nod to Krema and Vii.

"Have a seat, I'll sort through my stuff, I'm pretty sure I don't have an astromech droid though, I think I'd remember something like that. Glasses are on the bar, pour yourself whatever you like."

He started back to the table.

"Keep an eye on Waric, I trust you two, but I don't trust that pirate as far as I could throw him."

The heavy set man disappeared through a door. He could be heard rummaging around in the back room.

    Kynn
"Can I interest you in a I-744 Power Converter, straight from Tashi's Station on Tattooine? Guarenteed to increase the speed and range of your PAN by 25%, or your credits back!”

Kynn felt him before the merchant had even left his stall, and grinned a friendly smile at the man and his offer. “I look the type, don't I? All gadgets and shiny stuff”.

“Sorry, buddy, but I'm just passing though,” he continued, looking up at the trees. “Just figured I'd get a sniff of...life before moving on”.

'Nice timing, though,' he thought, feeling the others drawing closer quickly, probably through the turbolift.

“I gotta be on my way, but thanks for the offer!”

With that, he walked off to meet the others, wherever they were going. He was in no hurry.

Finding them was easy. Too easy, really. They should be more paranoid. 'But how?' He filed that as things to do once they had the spare parts.
"Vii, we should c-c-come up with a s-s-system. Hit me if I st-st-start to say s-s-something s-s-stupid again, OK?"

“Boo,” he whispered, sneaking up on Krema and tapping him on the back of his head. “Sounds like a great plan”.

    “So, what are we buying?”

    Kynn

Contrary to all previous behavior, Kynn sniggered. “I was...around”.

Like Krema, he dropped down on a chair. Spotting a bottle of something alcoholic, he was quickly back on his feet, and pouring himself a glass.

“And what about you? I figured you'd be in the hangar. Damage is really that bad?”

Resisting the urge to roll her eyes, Vii'let glared at Kynn. "Is that really something you should be doing?" Whatever. And I thought I was dealing with things stupidly. Faces of fellow padawans surfaced in her mind, faces she would not see again.

With a frustrated look she turned from Kynn and switched up the issue at hand. "Besides, we're out of here as soon as we get those parts, right?"

The cantina was surprisingly comfortable enough, and so far everything was just fine. But still, Vii wanted to get back. She didn't want to push her luck.

Seth returned with a box in his arms, whistling a tune as he set it on the bar counter. Wires, panels, and other electronic parts spilled over the sides of the container. The man let out a heavy sigh as he wiped beads of sweat from his forehead.

"No droid, unfortunately, but I've got everything else. These panels and wires aren't specific to the RH-Wing, but if your mechanic is good, they'll do in a pinch. How does 150 credits sound for the lot?"

Seth leaned against the bar counter and gave a look to Kynn.

"Oi, who's this then helping himself to my bar like he owns the place?" There was a mischevious grin on the man's face.

"Well Krema," Waric replied in a in more jovial mood that he would've prior to Kynn's arrival. "What's more conspicuous? Me telling an old trusted friend I need parts and paint for an RH-Wing, or the fact that we just landed at a highly illegal space dock in a Jedi-counil paint schemed RH-Wing covered in carbon scoring immediately after Ossus being glassed. Anyone here with half-a-brain who saw us come in is wondering..."

Kynn poured himself a drink, eliciting an icy stare and commentary from the young Twi'lek. Waric chuckled to himself as Seth returned to the bar with a box full of parts.
"Oi, who's this then helping himself to my bar like he owns the place?"

"Oh I think he was pouring that one for me," Waric said snatching the glass from Kynn's lips.

"Weren't ya boy?" said Waric draining the whiskey in one shot.

"No paint Seth? 150 credits is a little steep dont' ya think old friend. Now if you could scrounge up some matte black paint I'd consider it a fair deal."

"Waric, you cheap bantha fuc..." Seth stopped himself and chuckled awkwardly. "I'm already giving you a deal! Hell, that's below cost!"

Seth sorted through the box and slammed down a metallic container on the counter.

"And I even threw in the paint for free!"

    Seth sighed.

"I guess I can't expect a man to change, can I," he said with a laugh. "Alright Waric, 100 creds, and buy a round of drinks for you and your friends, 3 creds a glass. Fair?"

"SOLD to the hell'of'a'guy behind the counter. But my first drink was for old time's sake," he said with grin.

    "Take care friend."

"Oh I think he was pouring that one for me," Waric said snatching the glass from Kynn's lips.
For a brief moment, Kynn glared at the older man. Then, he merely smiled and poured himself another one, draining it just as fast as Waric had. It had been a long time since he'd touched alcohol. Way to long, he realized, feeling the whiskey burn it's way down his throat. He almost coughed. Only almost, though.

“Certainly wasn't, old man,” he contested, offering Vii an insolent grin.
"C'mon, let's get to w-w-work. Somebody grab the p-p-paint for me?"
Briskly, he moved over and picked up the paint. “Let's go, people”.

The turbolift ride ended quickly and the four refugees scattered out of it and made their way over to the Mag. Another ship had arrived in the time they had left to purchase supplies, an old beat up freighter, boxy and ugly to look at. The Mag looked like a top of the line transport sitting nearby.

A Twi'lek and a Rodian stood outside the old freighter, speaking to each other. They shook hands and the Twi'lek got inside, the Rodian heading for the turbo-lifts and taking a ride away from the hangar.

The Mag and the RH-Wing sat waiting for repairs.

    Kynn

    “I'll paint”.

Always interested in new faces, Kynn wanted to check out the newcomers. Painting meant he wouldn't have to stick his head in a bunch of wires while there were strangers around.

Dragging the cans of spray and gear over the RH-wing, he climbed up on a wing and hoisted the gearup the vehicle, gently aiding his physical exercise with the force. It wouldn't be nice paint job, for sure, but hell, anything was better than the current one.

Humming an old war song he had learned at the age of six, he began showering the wing in black.

Chapter 3: Once Again Friends, Into the Breach

It felt good, being back in the safety of an infinite black beyond. Huddled inside the Magnificent Bastard seemed less lonely than it did before the journey into the space station.

Outside, the murky shadow of the RH-Wing glided alongside the Mag, a dark spot against an eternity of darkness. There was still a long way to go, but at least the fighter was operating at full speed. Shame about the shields, but Krema hoped it wouldn't matter in the time between now and their arrival on Belkedan. Waric had overseen the repairs to the turret on the bastard, and while Krema didn't agree with his diagnosis, he listened to the man who owned the ship.

It wasn't fixed, in fact, it was still entirely dead. Waric had been frustrated by it, but without a lot more time, it would have to stay as is.

The captain took his time to enter the co-ordinates and sent them live over the shared network to the RH-Wing. Once entered, they escaped to hyperspace.

It was indeed a long journey, 35 hours of hurtling through a corridors of blurred stars. There was more than enough time for reflection, moments to remember, and no matter how hard one tried, the faces of the fallen could not be forgotten.

Death is a funny thing, no matter how much of your life you spent with the departed, you always wish you would've given more.

    Three days after the attack

The grey globe of Belkedan welcomed the rag tag group of space transients with silent greeting. On sensors, it was predominantly a dead world, sparse patches where plant and animal life registered on such a small scale that one wondered how it survived. The atmosphere was breathable, but according to the network information, oxygen apparatus was recommended.

Waric punched in the local coordinates and let the ship's navcom guide the Mag into the atmosphere of thick, dark grey smoke. After a minute, the clouds dissipated and revealed the local terrain of scorched, craggy flatland, grey and lifeless as a barren moon. There were two other ships, landed in a long sprawling plain of cracked earth, bare save a few patches of black thistle that grew randomly on its face.

They were Republic cruisers, and when the Mag reached network range, their ID's blipped onto everyone's PAN. The Orbit and the Meteor's Tail survived. As they flew closer, people, like specks of sand, gathered around in a circle between the two ships. As their visages became clearer, it could be seen that they were all eyes skyward, pointing with excitement to the approaching ship. An audio message played over their PAN's.

"By the Force, you made it. Welcome Waric, you did well."

[I will not reveal the number of survivors at this point, feel free to post about 1 person your PC knew and loved/hated/ whatever that survived and make up a name, or drop a name I have used before. Its fine to say no one they loved made it too. Again, your story.]

    Kynn

Kynn had spent all the time aboard the Bastard in silence, sitting on a hard bunk and meditating. Despite the chaos, the fear and the horrors that still filled up his mind, he was strangely at peace. Was it acceptance? No, he didn't accept any of it. It wasn't resignation, either. He hadn't given up. He'd have to talk it over with a master, he supposed.

As they made their final approach to Belkadan, Kynn slipped back into his jedi robes, and felt the emptiness on his hip. He had saved the crystal – the essential part – but the others were lost. It left him a little hollow, but he hoped no-one would notice. He was still trying to explain his actions to himself, and had no desire to explain them to anyone else. From a purely practical standpoint, had been an utterly stupid thing to do. Still, strangely, he did not regret it.

When the transport touched down, Kynn hung back as always, waiting for the others to exit first. In his mind though, he was already among the other survivors. Racing from mind to mind, Kynn sought out those he knew. Friends and companions. He found none.

Waric was disturbed. Never before had the wiring harness manouevre failed him.

Maybe next time I'll let the kid look at it first...

Waric was disturbed. The only woman he'd ever loved was dead. She wasn't coming back, and he couldn't grieve with the ones who'd known her. He had to steel himself to the cold reality that there was no one in this universe that cared for him.

    damn turret

    Waric was disturbed....

Most of the interim was spent in his cabin reflecting on his life and his past, wondering about the future. He had nowhere to go; nowhere but the rendezvous.

    ...for a good 35 hours.

He had made a point of not getting to know many people at the Temple, and didn't really expect to recognize anyone as they came in on final approach.

A couple 'Public Cruzorbs' sat on the duracrete tarmac as they circled to land.

A voice broadcast over the PAN comlink plug-in.
By the Force, you made it. Welcome Waric, you did well.

At least Master Walsc had survived.

After the Mag and RH-Wing had settled and powered down, the crews exited and were quickly surrounded by a host of cheering friends and family. Of the many, so few had survived. A handful, really.

Waric was approached by a young apprentice named Hykar, and the old pilot made the connection that it was not the Master that had trained him that had sent the comm, but rather his eldest son. Hykar had been trained by his father, and the two sounded identical. It was Hykar that was forefront of the line, and he grasped Waric's hand and shook it firmly with a steady look in his eye.

"I count three survivors under your protection, Waric, this is good news. Yujin and I are the only apprentices who survived the hangar assault, and... none of the masters have arrived yet. Twelve padawans made it between the two transports, but our escorts died protecting our escape."

Hykar looked back at the small crowd around the Bastard, watching them sadly from his place on the Mag's rampway next to Waric and the others.

"This is all of us, now. We can wait longer... but I despair. I believe we are all that have made it," the young apprentice said with a sigh. "Come, rest, you must be cramped with space travel. We have set up a fabricated shelter between the ships with hot food and drink inside. Gather your crew, there is much to talk about."

The apprentice led them to a plastic walled tent like structure that was propped up between the two ships. Inside sat several portable tables and chairs with a padawan stirring a brownish substance in a tall, silver pot sitting on a small element. Waric had the exact same pre-fab tent kit in his ship, a last added supply from the Jedi council.

It was mostly silent inside, some of the padawans sat at the table while others remained outside, keeping themselves occupied with each others company, playing at games of tag and hide and seek. In the great expanse of nothing, there was little place to do so.

There was little to do at all.

Vii'let lagged behind the others as they disembarked. For some reason she was shying away from the rest of the survivors, looking to avoid initiating any conversation. She realized it was that the idle chat would be quite topical and further depressing.

Scanning faces she picked out Tarau sitting quietly. She was human, the same age as Vii, hair matching the brown robes enveloping her frame. Tarau's braids were clearly redone after she arrived, likely several times over. Her style was meticulous and passed the time easily.

Tarau was sitting alone. While her and Vii frequently talked and spent free time together, Tarau and Olia were inseperable. Olia was nowhere to be seen.

Wanting nothing more than just casual talk about trivial matters, Vii made a hyperjump towards her. She managed her best smile and hoped that Tarau found her company welcome.

Hykar was definitely his Father's son. Waric liked him. They'd spent many hours training together when Master Walsc took Waric under his wing...so to speak.

"I'm glad you made it Hykar. It was damn close but the kid there..", he said with a gesture of his head in Krema's direction, " is a damn good snubfighter pilot. He's got good instincts and good luck."

    And a couple kills...

They sat at the first empty table. A youngling stopped by with a couple bowls of the "delicious" looking broth.

    "So...what now Hy?"

    Vii'let

The young woman smiled at a new face, but it was something that wasn't true, there was no real joy in Tarau's eyes. She had lost someone close, as everyone had, and like many others she was having difficulty grasping the complexity of this new life.

"I'm glad you made it Vi, I was afraid that Eralia and I were the only females to survive," she said, managing another smile. She leaned over and embraced the Twi'lek. "I'm so happy you are here, it makes this... so much easier to take. Krema made it too? I saw his fighter land, but haven't had a chance to speak with him yet."

She looked out at the wandering homeless and let slip a coy grin. "He's a good pilot."

    Krema

Yujin looked tired, but despite being emotionally and physically drained, he took the young trainee into a strong embrace.

"Krema, I knew your skills would bring the old pirate and his crew safely here!" he said with a weary smile. "We lost our escort... the poor kid had no chance, he was outnumbered three to one. Rylan was a good kid... a damn good kid. Sillier than most, but a good heart."

The apprentice ran a hand through his shaggy mop of sandy brown hair. He was fighting something, a show of emotion, cramming it down and putting iron on his visage.

"But he died protecting many others, and for that we are grateful. It is the way of things, yes? As far as helping... most of the shelters are set up, but the transports took an awful beating. Weapon systems and shields are out on both and the Orbit lost all streamlined navigation in the computer. I know you're good with all the tech stuff, and if you think you can do something about it, we'd appreciate it. We'd like the ships somewhat defensible before we leave..."

    Waric

Hykar sighed and looked into his bowl with vacant eyes.

"I'm in charge now, you know that? None of the masters have arrived, and that leaves me as... temporary leader. I've been talking with the other apprentices and I think we've agreed on a solution...

We disperse. The Sith can track us down far easier if we all stay together, and who knows, this place could already be compromised. If they found us all in one place, the slaughter would be... pretty final. We can't let that happen.

So, here is what we're proposing, and I'd like your input on this. The transports and their crews stay together, staying hidden but remaining in touch over time until we are able to summon allies to our cause or the masters somehow reach us. I'm not holding much hope for the latter.

You take Vi, Krema and Kynn with you and find a safe place to hide. You'll need civilian jobs, spending Order money is a sure death knell. You can bet the Sith will be tracking that. You need to protect these kids, Waric, and you need to make sure that they have a safe place to stay. I know my father trusted you, and I know I can.

    What do you think?"

Vii'let broke into small laughter, shaking her head at Tarau. Always talking about boys. At least she wanted to talk about something else too.

"Hey now, don't be stealing my defender, find your own!" Vii laughed with a grin. She leaned in with a teasing mock-pride. "Took down two Sith fighters by himself."

Glancing back for Krema, she spotted him pouring over his datapad, already getting to work. Feeling a twinge of responsibility, Vii thought on what could be done. Hopefully nothing too technical, for she wanted to ease and relax her mind. Physical, repetitive. Training would be nice right about now.

Turning back to Tarau, "Is there anything we should be doing?" Vii'let questioned.

    Krema

Yujin paused for a moment before answering. "None with your skills, unfortunately. A few of us could be of assistance, but you'd be doing most of the diagnostic. Ambril and Ugali should be able to help you out, I mean, they pilot the transports after all, but as far as I know they are pretty reliant on tech data from the ship computer. You'd be a great help."

As it happened, Ambril, the stocky, middle aged, human pilot of the Orbit was walking by with a datapad in hand. He was muttering the tech specs for the Takom 2.45 processor for the ship's onboard computer system. From what Krema could tell, the captain had a fried central system. An easy enough repair, given time, and it could sort out all of the downed defensive and offensive operational systems.

    Vii'let

Tarau looked around at the smattering of survivors, watching as they tried to occupy themselves with anything to keep their minds busy. There was little to do, especially for the padawans and those with little repair skill. "I've mostly been sitting around. I mean, I've offered to help, but... I'm not much use with gadgets and the like. Yujin and Hykar have been busy with organizing everyone and working on the contigency plan... heh. I don't know, things don't look good."

She sighed. "I'm just waiting around to find out what happens next. Some of the other Padawans are saying that we will be splitting up again, getting back on the ships and heading out to space. Hide until things simmer down, I guess. We'll all be apart again, and... that means I won't see you, or Krema or Kynn ever again. I hate that... I find out you are alive only to say goodbye again.

    This sucks."

Waric searched Hykar's face and saw the age that this short leadership had added to it.

    That's what the man said...

"Don't say that," Vii'let scolded, hating the notion as well. "I bet even the masters couldn't see something like that right now."

    Where are the masters?

"I'm going to figure out what's going on. I hope we don't get split up again but we probably have to scatter to keep everyone safe. I don't know... I'll come find you later alright?" Vii embraced Tarau for a moment before setting off for Hykar and Waric.

Vii'let felt defiance towards the Sith swelling. They were survivors, not victims. The Jedi will not be destroyed by these events. They will recover and take action. They will teach the Sith that they made a horrible mistake.

    Waric

There was frustration on the young kid's face, a look of being overwhelmed to the point of breaking and the pressure Hykar was wearing on his shoulders was quite possibly greater than he could handle. The kid was responsible for the lives of many people. "Damn it, I don't know Waric! I have no idea how we should do this, I never expected to make any decisions of this... scale."

He slammed his fist against the table and sighed when he noticed to room became more quiet. "You.. you must forgive me, I'm not ready for this. We had always assumed one of the Master's would make it and they would let us know where to go from here. I just think that staying here is a bad idea. I say we cut loose, each of us heading to a place we know is safe. We don't tell each other, in the event that some of us are captured. It could be months... years even, before we are able to come together again. You need to know that, and your crew needs to know that.

I've made the decision to leave, as soon as the ships are in proper shape we'll be setting off again. Do you know a safe place for you and the padawans?"

    Krema

The old pilot nodded as he guided Krema to his transport. Several heavy pockmarks punctured the Orbit's side hull, thick scorch marks blasted along her belly. It was a miracle the beast held together for as long as it did. Even more surprising was that it was only the central computer system that was damaged; it was a sturdy, reliable mammoth.

"She blew when a TIE sideswept us with a volley, tore her up pretty bad on the Starboard," he said, running his hand along the ship's side. "We lost our escort in the fight and from there it wasn't long before they were chewin' her to bits. The Orbit held out, though, strong as an ox, but the whole system overheated and when the central system had an energy spike after another volley... well, it was too much and it resulted in a dead CPU. Whole defense system just shut down, but I could still fly her. I cannot get the CPU back up, for some reason it won't hardboot even after I replaced the hard drive with old components I had layin' around the ship. You know anything about operating systems?

I know hardware like you wouldnt believe, but the software used to run this thing is new and I haven't a clue. Figure out the software, and the Orbit will be good to go."

He opened the door and raised his hand in gesture for Krema to enter. "I'll give you what help I can, but I'll mostly be learning if you know you're stuff, kiddo."

    Vii'let

The Twi'lek entered the main tent station where Waric and Hykar were conversing over a bowl of soup. The Apprentice looked tired, and there was no calm in his voice or body language. He was a boy given the task of Master. Suddenly, he slammed his first on the table and the room, once loud from numerous children laughing and chattering around the folding tables, became silent.

He was embarassed by the outburst, and quietly continued on with Waric.

Hykar was laying it all out for Waric. "I'm not ready for this. We had always assumed one of the Master's would make it and they would let us know where to go from here. I just think that staying here is a bad idea."

The Masters were fighting on the ground to cover our escape. If none of them made it, it's pretty likely that many were killed, and at least one captured.

    Vii'let frowned.

That means possible interrogation... and whether the rendezvous was revealed or not, Hykar is right. Staying here is a baaaaaaad idea.

Approaching Hykar's table, she looked to Waric. "He's right, we have to assume this place isn't safe at all. We should reorganize all us survivors here now and set off. I know we have to split up, but we should make more sense of it now than the random groups formed just to escape, right? I mean, we have a fighter, but we don't have a real gunner." Vii grinned sheepishly at Waric. "Everyone should be together in a way best for survival of all."

"You shouldn't strain yourself trying to plan everyone's fate, V. It's not very becoming for you to step outside of your place so."

The short girl had slipped up to the table after Hykar's outburst, although noone seemed to notice until she spoke up. Her head was tilted up ever so slightly, as usual, so she could sneer down her nose at the Twi'lek.

"Maybe you could do a little dance, keep us entertained? The Apprentice needs time to think, he doesn't need you bothering him with your foolish prattling."

Eralia made a dismissive shooting gesture towards the girl...before her sneer softened into a smile. It was still tough to determine how serious she was, but it was obvious she walking a fine line to avoid garnerning any sort of punishment.

"Just kidding, of course, V. My, those clothes you scrouged up are very...interesting. What kind of style do you call that, hmm?"

As usual, she'd managed to steal away things finer than most of the padawans ever owned, or were allowed to keep during their training. Her outfit was mostly purple, of course. The girl seemed obsessed with the color...there were times Vii'let had noticed her eyeing her skin and licking her lips. She knew deCauste was not some monster that would try to peel her skin off her bones, but that look was always...unnerving.

The purple was dark and tinged with red this time, a short skirt and matching tank-top. She wore a long pair of tight, black shorts and a matching long-sleeved shirt under the slightly looser outer clothing. Those at the table couldn't spot her lightsaber, but they knew she had managed to hide it away somewhere.

She kept her feet, wanting to retain every scant inch she posessed for the moment.

"I know somewhere we can go, where there will be people ready to help us."

She opened her mouth to continue, and it was rather obvious to everyone what she was about to say. The girl was always pining for her homeland, it seemed. After she was deposed, however, her desire to return home had taken a dark turn. The fire in her eyes when she spoke of her Aunt was...unsettling.

    Krema

The system was messed; there were things he could do to fix it but initial diagnostics indicated that the problem wasn't just the CPU. The hard drive was failing, the power intermitent and the operating system needed either replacing or reformatting. He did a quick estimate on the time needed to get the job done with what little tools he had. Considering his initial check, Krema figured he would need 5 hours to get the Orbit back in action.

[OOC: Initial Roll determined how quickly. Roll before your next post, you need a 12 or higher. Remember, you can use up to 2 CP to add to the roll.]

    Vii'let + Eralia

Hykar turned from Waric and faced the young Twi'lek. She agreed with him and seemed fairly insistent that staying here was a bad idea. It only confirmed what everyone else milling about was feeling. The tension and stress of isolation, cut off from the world and seperated from those they loved, it was all caving in. Hykar nodded, but before he could speak, Eralia interjected with thoughts of her own.

Hykar quirked a brow at Eralia's tirade towards Vii'let and crossed his arms over his chest as she continued. When she said she knew of a safe place, Hykar knew where Eralia wanted to go.

"Do you believe you'll be safe so close to the Core? I know you have an influencial family, Eralia, but from what I understand they are very Imperial sympathetic since the passing of your mother. Do you have other's who will take you in and keep things quiet?"

Eralia frowns at being interrupted. As he continues, her expression only seems to darken. As he finishes, she brushes one of the long strands of hair out of her face and nods.

"Of course. I know maids that raised my mother before they raised me, houses that have been loyal to my family through hard times and bloody successions. Besides those simply protecting the true royal family, I know there are plenty within the government that highly respect the Jedi, and have no love for the Empire. They're smart enough to hold their tongues in public...but, in private, I'm sure there are talks. Some sort of resistance, even if they aren't setting off bombs or taking up arms. Yet."

As she laid that out, her face slowly brightened again, smiling once more.

"I'm sure I'd be safe, and so would any friends I bring along. Especially if they're Jedi that can stand as witnesses to the Sith's deplorable actions..."

    Krema

It took five hours. Five long hours of diagnostic, minor touch ups to the fried boards, and a series of reboots and reinstalls of the operating system before it finally clicked. When it did, Krema had the pilot fire up the engines and test the system. The Orbit growled as the power flowed through it and all the systems lit up on the main computer. Everything was set and ready to go.

The Orbit was fixed. Now only one more ship remained.

    Waric/Vii'let/Eralia

Hykar turned to Waric and shrugged his shoulders. "If she believes there are those sympathetic to the Jedi and the former Alliance, maybe you should head there. It's ultimately up to you and your crew. I'd rather a unanimous decision than a single person's decision. Vii'let is right though, staying here any longer is not a good idea. Make your decision, once the other transports are ready to go... we leave. I have to go speak with Yujin, inform me when you're made up your mind."

Eralia let out a hmph, her nose seeming to tilt up further. "One person's decision would have been good enough for an entire planet...but, very well..." She shrugs, seeming unconcerned about the decision. But, the look she gives Waric and Vii'let lets them know that she believes there is really no decision to make.

Oh joy, Eralia is here to save us now. She wasn't sure if her eyes were actually rolling or if it was just the urge.

"Waric... I like our chances alone. Without outside help, I mean..." Vii interjected. "We can't trust anyone or any place for long. I'm sure there are spies that will give us enough trouble without involving ourselves with outsiders."

She glared at Eralia briefly before appealing to Waric. "I don't know... let's just get out of here alright?"

Vii'let didn't know where to, but it was felt simply that they had to keep on the run.

Waric was irritated. He didn't like being told what to do or how to do it. Especially by some rich snot-nosed little princess with an attitude.

At least attitudes i can adjust…sometimes

“I don’t like the idea of a well-populated system with a highly recognizable person standing out like a sore thumb…sorry. Unless there’s a damn good reason my ship ain’t going there.”

Who does this girl think she is anyways…trying to order me around in my OWN ship!

Turning to Eralia with a fierce scowl.

“Look kid, I don’t care who you or your mommy and daddy are. My ship is my own, and if you want the privilege of accompanying me and my crew on MY ship, then you better start trying to earn it!”

    Gods that felt good

“Hykar, Vii, unlike the rest of you, I have no idea where this little snotling is from. Care to fill me in? We should also get Krema’s take on things before we finalize our decision.”

She let out a startled noise, almost a croak, at Waric's comments. "Well, I've never...! A thousand de-" She cuts herself off, as she notices the Apprentice again. "I am the Princess of Antar for your information. And, unlike the rest of you here, I actually have some sort of a plan. Running away and hiding like bugs scuttling from a bright light is not going to get us anywhere! If we try to flee and die, all those sacrifices were for nothing...and if we manage to find a some slimey rock dank and dark enough to hide us from the Empire, nobody's going to know what's really going on. I'd rather die trying to do the right thing than live out a pitiful, meaningless life."

    Waric, Vii'let, Eralia

Hykar sighed; more dissension. "She's from the core world of Antar, and while I agree with you Waric about the rather uncomfortable proximity of the Empire, it's entirely up to you and your crew. I have to level with you; Eralia will be going with you, I have need of Kynn's abilities on my transport. He has a naturally strong mind and I'll be needing his help where we're going. I hope you understand.

Hykar turned to Eralia. "If Waric and the others decide to go elsewhere, do your duty and bite your tongue. It is not your place to question, trust in the Force and that it will guide you to your destiny. Should it be Antar, then so be it, but ready your mind for what else may come."

With a thumb, he motioned to Vii. "And she's right, we could all be in danger here. We should leave this place, the sooner the better. When Krema is done with the other transports, leave and don't tell anyone where you've decided to go. Can never be too careful. I'll trust you to take care of things, Waric, I know my father would've."

    Krema

Ambril led Krema to the Meteor's Tail where Ugali was looking over the extensive exterior damage. He dropped his spanner to the ground and cursed as it bounced off of his toe. "This lousy hunk of junk, how the hell am I supposed to get this thing fixed?" He asked the sky.

He wiped the sweat from his brow with an oily rag and smiled awkwardly as the two approached. "Hey Ambil... Krema. You guys can go on inside, I have no idea what's keeping the weapon and shield system down. It's not a computer issue, I think it's the wiring. Check underneath the central server panel, I'm pretty sure that's where the problem is, I had some heavy ionization when we tore through the atmosphere. Lucky we made it as far as we did.

I have extra tools in the storage bay if you need em."

Eralia crosses her arms, scowling at that decision...shaking her head at the end. How typical. But she manages to keep herself fairly composed, shrugging and lifting both palms up. "If this is what you think is best. I was merely making a suggestion."

She turns that frown towards Waric, trying to ignore Vii. She just knew the girl would have something to say about this, though. "I sincerely hope you take at least a few moments to seriously think about this before we rush off to our...new lives..." She hmphs.

Ready her mind...bite her tongue. This will be great...

    Chapter 4: Ends

It came down to a vote. The newfound crew of the Magnificent Bastard sat around the table in the cramped lounge quarters and discussed all the viable options while still on the ground on Belkedan. Waric made it known that if they needed to, they could find work at the Hapes Consortium but that it would be the kind of work some of them might find a little morally questionable. It might not jive with their black and white view of the universe.

"You kids and your idealistic black and white," were his exact words.

It all came down to a question of safety. When one put the options against the wall, the only safe option was to make some money on your own and use that to keep moving. It wasn't much, but if the Sith had compromised the data at the Academy, they would know of Belkedan, they would know where the families of the students lived, they would know far too much to allow for complacency.

No, the answer was to move.

Waric made contact with his one time friend, Jaryn Mylo, who at first wanted nothing to do with him and his crew. In the end, luck seemed to be on your side as Jaryn had a job that needed to be done right away, even if Waric was the guy for the job. Something easy, he said.

"My boys found a dead floater. A Brynn class freighter, ship I.D. codes turn up nothing in the galactic registry. A ghoster. Cargo and passengers, unknown, but the ship had no life signs. Or, it was jamming internal scans." Jaryn had said. "2,000 credits if any cargo is found worth value, plus 5% of fair market should the goods exceed 10,000 credits in value."

Waric insisted it was a good deal. This was his profession before his conversion after all.

This is what it had come to. Scavenging off property that belonged to someone else. Waric hand waved the moral quandary by talking about survival, the greater good... anything that made him feel better about it.

When you arrived at the co-ordinates, you found the floating remains of a derelict freighter, a ship four times the size of the Mag, slowly spinning end over end. Bits of debris and fuselage drift through the ocean of stars, hapless and directionless as they go. Waric's scans revealed nothing more than what Jaryn already told you. There are no life signs on board, and he confirms there doesn't appear to be any jamming coming from inside the craft.

Waric points in the direction of the freighter and motions to the hangar that is gently spinning away as the freighter rolls in space. It looks large enough to fit both the Mag and the RH-Wing, but just barely.

"The bay is open, but my scans indicate it isn't pressurized. We can land, but one of us is gonna have to don the spacesuit to close the bay doors so it can pressurize," Waric says as he guides the Bastard toward the ship. "Volunteers?"

Usually she would have the utmost confidence in her physical prowess, and at first Vii'let figured it was the logical choice that she make the attempt instead of Krema. Then she realized, hey, vacuum, and caught herself before interceding. Vii'let was just finally getting accustomed to spending the majority of her time on a ship, if you considered dejected acceptance to be accustomed, and she felt much less enthusiastic about the entire endeavour.

Scavenging derelicts wasn't exactly her ideal career choice but there were much much worse ones out there she knew. As least this wasn't directly hurting anyone, and they definitely needed the credits.

Vii'let peered forward through the transparisteel and took in the visual. The lifeless husk of the freighter tilted steadily and eerily, and as far as she could sense, the Force told a similar story. This spacer's life was taking enough of a toll on the girl, and now they were stepping it up to boarding dead ships. She put on a calm demeanour, however. Having the rest of the ship pander to her because of all the obvious anxiety got old fast, so Vii'let just suppressed it to the point that only another twi'lek would notice by her lekku.

Just find another distraction, you silly girl. Her inner voice was self-mocking as usual.
