Mine's all crappy, the strum bar squeaks like there's no tomorrow and my whammy bar doesn't pop back up.
I just got Guitar Hero II and a second controller but I want the original one clean so my sister and I can play multiplayer.

Alcohol and qtips? I don't know about the screws on it, whether they're proprietary or just plain philips head, but you could always try CAREFULLY disassembling it, cleaning it with alcohol, and possibly lubricating random moving bits with a good 3-in-one oil. Tiny amounts of oil, mind you.
