Heh, I bet my buddy would be torn on them allowing PvE -> PvP transfers.
On one hand, he'll be able to bring his warrior with Thunderfury back to our server (He quit WoW for awhile, then him and a friend decided to transfer their chars over to a PvE server to just have fun; they later stopped playing entirely and then he went back to his old server with his guild.)
On the other hand, due to that, he made a NEW warrior (with the exact same name) who he's leveled to 70 from scratch, gotten a ton of Tier 4 loot for, leveled engineering and blacksmithing to 350 or higher, and got his epic flyer (which took out a "loan" for, of which he still owes on.). Methinks it'll just be easier to to runs of Molten Core and Blackwing Lair so he can get his precious Legendary back. Maybe I can get a leaf while we're at it.
Meanwhile, I'm probably never going to be in a position to get that damn legendary bow.
Bottom line is if leveling up is so fast these days and so easy to do on a PvP server then do it.
This is such a terrible argument, since:
1) Spending 9 days of your life to do the exact same thing you already did is the opposite of fast or worthwhile
2) Spending another what, couple months minimum of real time trying to raid to get back everything you had on your original character you wanted to transfer?
Of note, the only reason I support such a change in policy is because I know people who have friends on PVP servers and would like to play with them, but don't have the time or inclination to start from scratch. Even with gold and powerlevelling help, that's still literal days of your life pissed away.
"So the friends should join them!"
One way trip, and not one made lightly. This would remove that issue.
Alternatively, just make all classes like Deathknights and have alts start at 40 or so, or lower the level you can get a mount to perhaps 30 to speed up the process of getting around.

They definitely need to ramp up leveling (again), and I think it's going to happen. Didn't somebody data mine some stuff that looked like a mentoring system where you can actually raise the person's level? Starting at 30 or 40, given you have a level 70 character already should just be mandatory. Of course you should have the option of starting at level 1, because somebody would complain. Make it cost some gold for all I care; a big money sink is needed at this point imo.
I've leveled 2 70's on RP-PvP, had some friends from work start playing and then we ended up transferring to a PvE server. My only gripe is I don't have the option of going back to PvP now. I really do think the game is just too hard to play together with friends if you've both already invested time in the game, especially with the horde/alliance barrier. Ruleset be damned - if the opposite factions want to group together, it should be allowed. Disable the PvP flag inside instances or something, for aoe purposes.
Leveling goes so fast these days if you stick to quests, but I swear my server has some retards in it, who insist only on leveling in instances. Like, I go help a low-level guildie do Ragefire or something, only to discover he's done all the quests in there and just wants me to basically grind for him.
Is anyone else getting that? I see it on our trade channel all the time too. Personally when I level alts I just skip instances now, unless I want a specific piece of gear.

Seems kind of obvious either that video was on a free server, or they simply hadn't finished off the proper starting area for Deathknights when that video was made.

I think it makes lots of sense for it to be the latter.
It's on a free server AND they haven't finished the proper starting area for DKs. They could easily track you down from a vid and I don't think anyone in testing would want to do that.

The alpha notes specifically said that they hadn't made the DK starting area or quests yet.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
I was looking at the starting gear that's been spoiled for Death Knights on the alpha spoiler wiki and it seems their itemization is pretty similar to warriors. Looks like mostly strength and stamina, with a little crit, haste, hit, and agility on their starting gear.
I wonder if this just representative of the kind of gear for a Blood (dps)-specced DK, ostensibly the best leveling spec since it's focused on dealing damage. That aside, I found this interesting since some of their spoiled abilities are spell-like (Death Coil, Death and Decay) and some of their talents refer to spells. Do you guys think it makes sense that this would mean DK "spells" will scale with their attack power?
Edit: Another possibility is that DKs are itemized like Shamans, as a rough example.... Enhance shammies gear for attack power and crit, while the other specs gear for damage/crit and healing. This seems to make more sense on reflection.
Also, the starting gear looks awesome. Very Nordic. There's an animation of it on the official Wrath site if you haven't seen it.
By the looks of it, yes. And due to the lack of a floaty skull or whatever it was, it looks to be a cleansed version of the corrupted one we could get in Naxx (for clarity, in case someone brings up "that doesn't look like the one my friends ____ has")
Also, before anyone else starts the damned meme;

Death knights do indeed apparently utilize spell damage as inferred from stuff like the unholy str->spell damage talent.
However, if you look at some of the mined spells, you'll see that "AP" takes a part in their calculations, even though they're "spells". The same "AP", I'd imagine, in spells like blood thirst.
I'll probably be one of the fifty-thousand who make one, but undead as a Death Knight race appeals to me. I think it's the first time I've ever seen an undead look good in plate.
Granted, I hardly ever see undead warriors in the first place.

Mentoring worked very well in CoH, it'd be nice to see in WLK.
And yes, given that we get bare scraps and snippits of info, I guess we are.

Is that an epic mount at level 55? I wonder if they start you off with any money. Probably not.
But it didn't seem to have his dogs, and the model appeared a bit more human.
that quest line is one of my favourites in the game, so it's cool that you start at that point
though i can't say it makes that much sense as a death knight
Yeah, this confused me. That better not be the case, but I do like the animation.

Actually, they are moving him to Northrend:
