I never said I didn't like the way things are run. I'm just reminding people that vox populi doesn't always make things happen.

Don't feed me shit and pretend it's apple pie. At least have enough integrity to stand behind what you say.

The funny thing is, some of what you say is actually true, just without the negative spin. Just because there appears to be a large support for something doesn't make it so. The total amount of people playing hyperium is less than 5% of the active board. It's also something that kerome admits to needing only 1 or 2 hours a day. These reasons alone make it hardly worth supporting with a hot topic. I wanted to help kerome out because he seemed to really care and was doing a good job at marshalling people. I think effort should be rewarded, much like your road trip kept you posting.

I think a better hot topic would be a sports section like 150 keeps asking about but that leads to the same problem you see with WoW or CoH. They don't ever leave. This is the problem with the hot topic section. If it was up to me, we would do away with it altogether.

I gave up on the idea of a sports forum long, long ago for the same reason I'm not pushing for any hot topic forum of any kind: no matter how much I or anyone/everyone else wants it, it's not going to happen.

The thing about a Sports Forum to me was: how the hell does it relate to Penny Arcade? I love sports, but sports was never a deal on the main site (except mabye musings and chides). There was a help section, the comic is about games, there is art, there is random shit that goes on, and there is clever writing.

Sports just never was a piece to the forum puzzle for me.

By the way, the new strip goes into territory never before explored by Penny Arcade.

    And it's goddamned hilarious.

That's a fluke to the norm. It's more about random shenanigans than the game of golf.

Have you ever played golf? When you get two or more people together for a round of golf it turns into a series of random shenanigans.

Yes I do, and not at the places I play at.

I would be surprised if there are 1000 active (ie posting at least once every couple of days) forumers. So I assume the majority of your "PA alliance" is actually non-pa forumers. In which case you should just be setting up your own board.

And just to rephrase something that has been stated repeadedly in this thread, but apparently not understood. Hyperiums is a group, anyone wanting to join is going to post in an existing thread, not start a new one. The topics that have been hot-topics are things that people not in a well defined group would start new topics on. It's not that we need 500 threads on the matrix, it's that we're going to get 500 threads on the matrix so we should have somewhere to put them so that we can still discuss other things.

man. a lot of people sure do "need" a lot of things. i think some of you forget that you cannot just demand things, and have it get done. the mods could possibly have different priorities than you do.
and hot topics are fine- but if they are supposed to be temporary, then they might want something akin to an expiration date or perhaps a requisite level of activity. then just shut it down (with due warning).
people could then move to a thread in g&t, hr, or wherever.

I have no idea where he got those kind of numbers from, I doubt we have even a quarter of that.

oh noes the world asplode because a new hot topic forum is made and ohnoes kerome made a conspiracy.

Not like you have to mod him or something. Just make a forum about the subject. If it doesn't fly, it can be b'leted.

It's obvious you haven't read the thread. I would appreciate it if you would do that before making idiotic statements. This isn't the chat forum.

Would be nice to have a seperate forum, but I can definately see why the admins woudln't do it.

Seperate In-game forum (of course, that is no longer an option, really) + Only one thread, going at a medium pace =/= Hot Topic Forum.
