Yeah I don't know. It's not a php script disguised as a png?
Maybe I'm just paranoid  but it's weird that that one thread crashes my browser without fail.

Which version of IE and Windows are you using? It doesn't happen to me, WinXP Home Build 2600, SP1, IE 6.0 SP1.

The avatar is 20,000x1 pixels and empty, so I'm gonna go remove it now. Tell me if it still happens in 5 minutes.

    Windows 98se (work pc). IE v6.0 SP1.

The crash problem has been resolved since you removed the avatar.
    Thanks Pheezer.
    Strange.

Weird. It's not malicious PHP masquerading as a PNG, as the forum code should make it impossible for a PHP to return anything except image data, and at any rate, I can confirm it was an image that was being returned.

It was a 20,000 pixel wide image, but the forum code forces your browser to resize it automatically to the 64 pixel wide limit. I suspect IE 6 under Win98 can't handle the request to render a 20,000 pixel wide image to 64 pixels wide and it's crashing because of that.
