For the UK peeps - check out what you will be allowed to take with you - last year, we ended up having to box our alcohol and put it in the hold of the plane cos we were travelling outside the EU. We had to box it up in the airport, with fab help from BA, who gave us the box, tape and packing materials. It arrived safely!

Raiden, there are some really fine blends out there. "Pedestrian" as it may be, I really enjoy Johnny Walker Black. Over a LOT of single-malt scotches, even.

Or follow a group of people talking about drinking/partying and you'll probably end up having a good time. You might want to introduce yourself before you get to where they're going of course.

Yeah I think the introduction beforehand might be good. Otherwise that would seem like borderline stalking.

So as this is my first time. How much drinking actually goes on at the event itself? Do people bring beverages in or do you buy from vendors only? Either way if there is beer to be had I will have one in hand at all times.

No alcohol at PAX proper -- only off-site / at other locations.

Yeah... PAX is a family friendly event, so no drinking takes place at the convention. WSCTC staff doesn't look too highly on you bringing your own food, either, so I would recommend going to one of the fine fast food establishments in or around the building. If you're caught drunk at PAX, you'll probably be escorted off the premesis (see Ed Flemming for more details).

alright so i have a problem... i happen to be in the part of PAX goers that can be classified as 21- and i still want to have a party in my hotel room at least one of the nights. I'm the party liaison around my neck of the woods, but i've never planned a hotel party 2000 miles away from my house with basically no one i know around there. It's easy around me because you don't even have to be of age to buy booze here either. So i was wondering if any of you could help me out with some tips on what i need to do to throw a good party at PAX.

PS i'll be staying at the red lion
pps you can pm me if you want ^_^

I read that twice and I'm not sure if I've gotten this right, but lemme see if I can summarize:

You're not of legal age to buy or consume alcohol, but you want our help to set up and throw a party where you and presumably others will be drinking as minors?

Because if I've read that right, you've come to the wrong forum. And I don't mean the PAX sub-forum, I mean the entirety of the Penny Arcade forum. We may turn our heads at grey area stuff sometimes, and may do a few things "under the table", but that kind of lawbreaking can get you thrown in the hoosegow for a long period of time. Might I suggest you throw a party a little less likely to get your and your guests convicted of an offense?

yeah... i do it all the time here... but at pax i'm not talking about a huge raging party... just like maybe 10 people or something hanging out... talking about pax or whatever... the only non 21+ people would be me and the other person in my room. I figured i'd do it this way because i'm sure all the other parties would be checking id so i wouldn't be able to get in :(

Doing it at home is one thing, asking for help on a public forum to essentially break the law in another state is another thing entirely. Whatever you end up doing, I would recommend not asking for this sort of assistance here on the forums.

No one is upset about you wanting to have a good time, they are upset that you are coming onto a public forum and going "SO HAY GUYS, DO SOMETHING DUMB AND ILLEGAL" It just shows a complete lack of common sense and respect.

However if you wanted to plan something legal, say a gaming afterparty sans booze, a big "insert game here" match or any other of the zillions of fun and LEGAL things you could do I'm sure you'd have a ton of support and help. :)
