You know, if JSA: Classified hadn't devolved into the Wildcat Busts Up An Illegal Fighting Organization Show, it would have been a great place to expand on, and flesh out a lot of characters introduced by Johns.

To be fair, I think it was a joke more than an analysis. It made me laugh anyway.
And it was pretty funny having Mr. Terrific very calmly telling Amazing Man that God is just an idea when there is a massive very God looking dude towering over him at that very moment.
A huge cast, yes, but I'm still amazed at the amount of characterization they cram in with so little space.
Yeah, the KC storyline has been a little slow, but I loved the character beats with KC Superman, and even with a fight spanning a whole issue, it was a kick ass fight. Dale Eaglesham is now one of my favorite artists.

Yeah, however much some of us defend atheism (myself included) in the real world, it's a very different question in the DC and Marvel universes. I cannot remember where the discussion occurred between Mr. Terrific and some other religious person (Ragman?) where Terrific spent all this energy describing ghosts and whatnot as purely scientific phenomenon.
Of course, the whole definition of "magic" and "god" is really complicated in Marvel/DC, since we've received conflicting information as to whether magic and gods are just effectively superscience.
This and Ultimate Spider-Man are the only books I read no matter what. JSA just works for me, I can't really explain it. I love sitting down with one of the slower issues as much as I love sitting with the fast paced omg issues.
Also, JSA Starman is the best character of all time.
