Booster Gold was awesome as always. Pretty much the best thing this week.

I loved it too, but was a bit... thrown by the ending.
Does this mean that Ted is just going to go back and let Max blow his brains out for mankind?

I mean, that's the only way I can see this arc ending. And if it ends that way then there doesn't seem to be any reason to have written the arc in the first place, aside from making Booster feel like an asshole all over again.

Uh, the whole point is making Booster comes to terms with the fact that he can't change everything.

And it also serves as a coda for his relationship with Ted

And I see your point. I just think that it would be nice to give Booster a goddamn break for once.

I don't see the point of including Black Beetle if he's not going to die in Ted's place in a misguided attempt to prevent his future from happening.

I don't really see why you'd introduce a future version of the character in Booster Gold in a storyline that isn't even about him, especially when Blue Beetle is selling like crap and could easily be canceled before anyone even has a chance to introduce this new villain.

On the one hand, I like that we get one more Blue and Gold story. On the other hand, I wish it had simply been a Lost Tale, set during the JLI-era, rather than teasing all the Ted fans with a potential resurrection and then pulling it back. They've endured enough crap as is.

Well, if this sticks, I'll stay true to my word and stop reading Booster and Beetle, just so I don't look like a hypocrite. Last couple of Beetle issues weren't as good as the Reach Arc, just felt off.

So which JLI/Superbuddy/ICBINTJL member is next? I'm going to guess they kill Guy, make him a Black Lantern, kill him again for good at the end of the war. It would make sense since he got his girl back, and we can't have a Superbuddy being happy, now can we?

Oh, I guess it could be Booster, since we know he knows how he dies, and apparently it has something to do with the sort of radiation a nuke would give off. At some point he would have to complete the loop.

Fire, eh, not sure how much people care about Fire these days. Ice is safe for a few years.

    Who am I missing?

    EDIT Oh yeah...

GLC - Great, and the Mongul family are even bigger dicks nwo, how is that even possible?

Skaar - Ok, could have done without the fast forwarding to age him though. Will keep an eye on this one.

Angel - Mostly meh, get back to the story damnit.

Titans (was smart and looked at it in the shop) - Oh god.......I need to scour this from my brain.

I still need to read the SI Tie ins and Invincible, I'm looking forward to them from what I've heard.

I could see Black Beetle taking Ted's place. Maybe he decides to be heroic and take the bullet for Ted, thinking it will somehow result in the future he wants for the mystery girl he's trying to save/keep Jaime from. He doesn't seem like such a bad guy, more like driven to get what he wants at the expense of the rest of the world. Black Beetle also lost his scarab during the fight with Ted. Could be significant. Maybe it took one/both of their memories before it became dislodged and Booster grabbed it. Plus, we still don't know who Rip Hunter is. At this point, I sort of suspect it's just an aged Booster, but I could still see it actually being Ted somehow.

My point is, I don't see this arc paying off with the same resolution of the Killing Joke issue.

Well, now that I think about it, the only way to prevent this is to pull a Back to The future and Booster must go back and stop himself any point before they bust into the room and help Ted, otherwise nothing is getting fixed......or they buthcer the whole timetravel thing yet again, which I'm expecting if they have their hearts set on killing Ted.

Yeah, I've always thought his work was solid but this was the first time I've really been wowed by it. He's hit a great iconic version of the characters. Anyone who likes Superman but hasn't liked him lately should get on board for this new story arc.

Can anyone provide a scan of the new Superman art? I gotta admit that during the whole Superman thing that happened last year, where both Camelot Falls AND Last Son were both horribly delayed, and they had some crappy filler issues that I grew really frustrated with Superman in general. Not to mention the same thing happened with Superman Confidential, and now its completely canceled. If Superman / Action Comics are good again, I might start collecting them again, but I've just been rather disenchanted with the entire Superman label lately.

Here are a couple of scans from the latest issue. This page reminded me a little of John Byrne:

    action866_1.jpg

His takes on Clark and Lois are a little reminiscent of the 80s movie versions without looking like caricatures:

I really like the way he draws Lois:

Because Jason Todd gets to live and no one wanted that douchebag back in the first place.

You find a way to justify Jason Todd, and then I'll consider not being bitter that a character people liked has to stay dead "just because" (it's not like this is the only instance of this happening).

Also Read Invincible and it was a great read. Kirkman, try keeping them coming once a month please? Otherwise it can't be "Probably the best Superhero Comic in the Universe" because that comic would get released on some sort of consistent timetable. Still hating the new costume.

You're not being bitter, you're being completely retarded.

Ted's dead, you got him back for an awesome story arc with his best friend which is more than 90% of dead characters get.

You whining about how it's unfair that he's dead isn't going to change anything. Jason Todd is alive because DC wanted him alive and Ted's dead for the same reason, at least he was able to come back for a little while.

Wasn't there sort of a costume 'ret-con' that they made Superman's 'S' be somewhat 3-D to be like the movie costume more. I seem to remember they started doing that whenever Pete Woods was drawing the One Year Later Up, Up, and Away story.
