Is Technology ever going to become it's own forum or are we always going to have to go through G&T first?
I mean it's kind of handy since the linktrail lets you jump between the two (in one direction), but still.
If tech became its own forum, G&T would have to lose its T and they would have to force all tech threads into the tech forum.
That's way too much work for such a niche subforum.
I'm confused, I thought that was the whole point of the sub-forum.
If it's not where all the tech threads go... what is its definition?
You can still make tech threads in G&T proper should you so desire.

Generally speaking the subforum, in my experience, is H/A Tech edition with assistance on purchasing X type of Y electronic or what programs are windows essential. Things of that vein.

Also the T sub forum got rid of those pesky Mac freaks from G&T proper. Win/win. :P
fyrewulff is mad because the g&t chat thread assholes kicked him out of their clubhouse
I have no idea what you're talking about, and like I'd want to be associated with the former chat thread site as they have no problem posting pictures of underage girls, and just act like a bunch of easily offended and high school dramatic weeaboos anyway.
It was still a great decision to get rid of the chat thread.
The G&T chat thread has it's own forum now? Haha! Twats. G&T has been consistently brilliant at generating one-thread cliques that eventually do us all a favour and piss off to start their own forum. And by brilliant I mean lame.
actually, you remember the G&T podcast, that Khoo asked the makers of to rename it as they'd started releasing it via iTunes and was worried about branding and whatnot? It was a Website (not just a forum, but a fledgeling gaming site, which, incidentally, Fyre was brought in to code for) spawned from that, and since it was founded by the G&T Podcast crew, many of the G&T Chat thread posters went there as well.
as for Fyre's little thing about underage girls being posted, it was actually one guy, who was then reprimanded for it by the forumers and the pictures removed.

I've mostly stuck around D&D in recent months, but what was the purpose of making a tech subforum within G&T anyhow? I missed whatever went down to birth the idea
I'm going to ask the same tired question because I keep forgetting the answer. If SE isn't segregated, why do they have their own gamertag list, WOW thread, MGS4 thread, comic book thread, and (i don't know if this was rectified since I haven't seen it for a while) several TT games threads?

because SE++ still play WoW and MGS4 and read comic books and play games on XBox Live/etc
but at the same time SE++ also likes to put stuff in butts which is more important than any of the above
then why go anywhere else except to form segregation and cliques?
ohhhh this is what you meant
as in the threads themselves forming cliques?
I honestly don't think I have seen that problem
if you see a thread about a topic you don't care about, you are not going to post in it while others who are interested in it are going to post in it and that means you are automatically not involved in the thread

quite frankly I am not sure what PikaPuff is getting at and I am going to go ahead and blame my incomprehension on this piss-poor excuse of an iced latte my coworker gave me

how is this hard to understand
I'm asking why there are other forums if SE is the everything forum? Why have other sections if SE already has all sections covered? Why would SE need to go to other forums and have inter-forum relations if they could just make their own thread? SE might mingle into other forums, but when things don't go their way or they don't like the people there and don't feel like mingling, they can just make their own thread in their own forum.

ah in that case my first answer is probably the one I'd make to that
as in, while SE++ talks about all the other stuff the other places talk about, it also talks about stuff that the other places don't talk about
at the same time, SE++ is not an on-topic forum, which I guess means that you are not forced to stay on topic as much as you would be in the other forums
so really the threads in SE++ all end up looking like one another at one point or another, usually until someone who's just read the OP and not the rest of the thread makes a post and then the topic comes back for a few pages and then the whole cycle repeats itself
in conclusion, SE++ threads in the other forums would basically just lead to SE++ having chat threads in every single forum and that is just silly
then why go anywhere else except to form segregation and cliques?

Why should SE++ be allowed to exist if its entire existence is intended to have their own versions of threads that already exist in the other on-topic sections? (EDIT: That's hypothetical .. I'm not actually advocating nixing SE++)
The strange thing about SE++ is that it's an everything forum, when it should really be an everything else forum.

Yeah there's a lot of threads in SE that wouldn't fit anywhere else.
Every forum on the internet has an off-topic sub-forum.
SE++ just happens to be special.

SE++ threads, even when they overlap elsewhere, do not have to keep on topic and can go any direction (it's a chat forum after-all). Talking about putting it in the butt, particularly in how Kobolds may put it in the butt can be an important part of discussion that isn't suitable in a more on-topic forum.

Which still means that SE's group is seperate from other groups.
Because SE is better than you
There problem solved
It's really because SE++ is more of the conversation you have with your friends when you're just chilling
Start out talking about the new game and all of a sudden you're talking about ham and then the virtues of different pornography
Whereas G&T type threads are more of the table of nerds, no offense just the first thing I could think of to describe it, who focus on that one piece of conversation until tomorrow and then talk about something new
And some people prefer one to the other and fuck you for not liking it
I didn't say I didn't like it, I'm saying it seperates groups. This thread is saying the forums aren't seperated, but they are.
they aren't designed to be, no
but by the sheer nature of social interaction (in any form), divisions (at least in PERCEPTION) happen
people who communicate regularly (and click in terms of personality) with one another are going to have in-jokes and stuff that is unique to only them, whereas those who do not communicate with them as regularly will feel a bit left out of the loop
it's not intentional, it's just how some people see it when they mentally draw lines in the sand
to perceive it as the formation of a clique is erroneous simply because cliques actively exclude people from their inner circle
while this natural "social circling" is perfectly normal and anyone can get join it, all it takes is continued interaction and, obviously, the development of friendships and connections... and the willingness to ignore the existence of those aforementioned lines in the sand
the division in the case of an online forum is just more apparent because you can clearly see where the circles' boundaries are, instead of having to navigate nuances and such at a larger, in-person social setting

I have to agree with Jester - the glorious joy of Ampersand tends to be overlooked in favor of both games and technology.
I started posting in D&D and kept posting in D&D. Everyone always goes on and on about SE but I don't see it being that bad.
Just haven't gotten around to posting there, much. It's hard to keep up with so many threads.
I'm confused, I thought that was the whole point of the sub-forum.

it's basically "Games and there might be tech threads there if you use the search function"
now they have their own little convenient forum, should you choose to use it
hmm, gotcha

From the time I used to post here semi-frequently, I would've ended that sentence with "... largely unaware of SE++'s existence."
SE++ is the clubhouse inside the house. It's a couch fort.
