"Dead Rush" resurrected in "Alone in the Dark"?

Alone in the Dark's driving gameplay is VERY reminiscent of the E3 2004 trailer for Dead Rush. Heck the rest of the gameplay has strong similarities, too.

Both protagonists had amnesia.
Both are set in locations ravaged by earthquakes (sort of)
Both require the player to light the environments and even provide similar light sources.

I wonder if it is just coincidence or is there more to it?

They had different developers and publishers obviously, but that doesn't mean the rights to Dead Rush couldn't have changed hands at some point...

    No, I think he's trying to say that they incorporated elements from Dead Rush into the new Alone in the Dark.

    I could also say that Dead Rush incorporates elements of Zork III. Earthquake. Light sources...

    Also, amnesia is one of the oldest plot devices in the book.
