Dreamlords: The Reawakening

I haven't seen a topic about this game, it's basically an MMORTS. It has a browser based city management similar to the popular Ikariam, and battles take place in a seperate client that is fully 3d and fully real time.

Basically everyone has their own island full of monsters, and your job to lead your people (1 of 3 races) to retake their land, and on the way, invade open PVP islands with your guild, fighting other guilds for phat loot.

The monsters and bosses can be big, creepy, and downright challenging sometimes, so there is plenty of PvE too.

It's free to register and play, you can register your account for 6 months for about 40$ which gives you a few advantages though. One interesting thing is everyone starts with 1000 tribute, the in game pay-for-with-real-money system which can last a hell of a long time if you spend it wisely. You can also gain more tribute through pvp rather then paying for it.

I've had it on my list and it did look decent enough to give a try sooner or later. My biggest concern with these games is balance. Or: is it playable and enjoyable for all parties involved?

I was in the beta a -long- time ago... got fed up with the RTS part... I hate RTS's... Much prefer turn based strategy. But those are few and far between. (There's one TBS MMO that I know of, but it was terrible so....)

If you like RTS's you may like this.

How exactly does one Re-awaken? Are you awake then you reawaken to a higher level of awaken-ness? Because if you fell asleep then awoke all you're doing is wakening not re-awakening.

The game is roughly balanced as far as I can tell, playing the humans I'm mostly defencive with good heals, being regarded as sucking in pvp, but I was able to win a few matches through better planning/playing. In PvE it's obvious I don't kill very fast, but I can take out things higher level then myself by playing defence.
