Remember, Darwyn Cooke is writing/drawing this week's JONAH HEX.

The dude writing it says the pace picks up a ton after the first arc, this is his first comic (he's a novelist) so I think he wasnt sure exactly how to pace it properly at first.

Hopefully, it's been 4 issues so far and it feels like nothing has actually happened.

    Oh it's definatley been slow.

But it's well written and future cannoball makes it worth it.

If the next story arc after this is the same way though it's gettin the axe

bianchi needs a really bright colorist and/or inker to work for me

and really anyone with his style

    that realistic, painted shit

    not saying it was terrible

but I'd rather read, like...dan jurgens or somebody

just good, solid, clean, classic comic booking

Yeah it is really grey and drab, and kind of mushy.

i thought it felt very alive and three-dimensional. i liked how "real" everything looked, without stuff like beast or the magic planes seeming at all out of place. i felt like the characters were actually moving around a space and interacting more than i sometimes do. i agree it was perhaps a bit dark, but i didn't mind. i will say that there was one panel (when wolverine was handing cyclops the phone) where he drew wolverine looking like he just got off his starvation diet, but eh.

I like Bianchi's pencils but the coloring and/or inking from what I saw in the preview was not doing him any favors.

i thought ellis did get the character voices quite well. for the most part, i wouldn't have guessed i was reading a warren ellis comic (in that he often has a particular authorial "voice"). i liked the explanation that cyclops had for their "street clothes", i loved that wolverine called cyclops "slim", and hisako had my favorite line in the issue-
"That doesn't sound like such a good idea, Mr. Summers."

"We're on mission time now. Codenames."

"Sorry. That sounds like we're all going to die, Cyclops."

basically i would say i am onboard for at least another issue.

This, I'm glad I wasn't the only one who felt this way. Also I hated the panel layout, stuff just felt really disjointed.

Did Blue Beetle #28 actually come out this week? I couldn't find it at the shop and I don't see anything about it online
