After finding the Platinum Edition with Proph and GWEN for $10 at Wal-Mart, I'm back in the game, and would really like some company. If anyone is out there:

Thing about Mo/N is that with a monk you're either smiting or you're healing. N/Mo, on the other hand, can summon and heal the summons.
Mo/N is just kind of counterintuitive, because the Monk's primary attribute deals with bonus heals, while the Necro's deals with regaining energy which is good for using Monk as secondary.

Considering I'm about 2/3 of the way through Prophicies, I'm not turning around and starting over.
You can switch your secondary though, Im not sure but I think the only place to do that in proph is in the crystal desert. There might be a guy in the battle isles who can do that as well though.
Those are the two I found on PvX, and I must say that the second one looks kind of interesting.
Also:
I have a guild I made with RL friends, and while I'm the only one active, it could serve as a point at which we could start rebuilding our empire. It is the Ping Island Rescue Operation [PING].

Monks are generally speaking, best played as pure monks, just stack up on healing and take a general healing loudout like Word of Healing, [Healing Breeze (shutup), Vigorous Spirit], [Orison, Dwanya's Kiss, Heal Other], Divine Spirit, Heal Party, [Purge Conditions, Mend Ailment], Res

Once you unlocked other secondary professions, you can change them in the skill menu in any given outpost.

I disagree, I think a mesmer secondary can really help a monk manage his energy.
Although in this case, I'd say most necro skills that could be useful to a monk (mainly the condition management skills) come later in the game or in expansions.
Anyone still playing this? I'm currently working on my Ascension. I have all the expansions now, I have a Guild but no active members.
Sorry to bring up an old topic...
A poorly designed game for it's endgame content...
Most people quit after beating the official campaign...
The only PVP I enjoy is AB which unfortunately reqs a Guild...
Unless you enjoy GvG or HA it's not going to last for you...
I logged in about a month ago to check up on things, and it damn near made me cry. I spent literally hundreds of hours on this game, was in more than 20 guilds, traveled damn near everywhere. I remember when the fort in Pre-Searing was a dye trading post and Lion's Arch was a casino. Now it's a ghost town.
I hadn't thought about this game in ages, went to look at the old forums and saw that Gaile Gray quit a while back, that made my day
My only regret is that she wasn't fired.
Yeah, I had to talk to her on the phone for 45 minutes once and it was like pulling teeth. She actively harmed the PvP community and I hope that isn't forgotten when they do GW2.

I never played much Guild Wars but who was Gaile Gray?
That's what the wiki says I don't know shit bout her as well...
She was the community rep from Arena.net (guild wars publisher or whatever) to the community. It was repeatedly stated she was not PR. Basically she'd go on forums and talk to PvErs, and do some in game stuff as well. Mainly she treated everyone like they were under the age of 12. Also, in the alpha test that ran concurrently with the live Guild Wars, she had a very active role.
Whether on purpose or not, she built up an anti-PvP reputation over the years that angered a lot of people. Much of the 'death of pvp' was blamed on her, probably unfairly, but she and Andrew Patrick (her kid) were responsible for a lot of ugly criticism both towards and from them.
If I answered honestly, I would have to say that Guild Wars was my favorite game of all time. My account had a little over 2000 hours logged and I played for just under a year (from just after release to a couple months after factions hit). I would literally play for 5 to 8 hours a day at my peak, most of which was GvG. God damn, GvG was a blast. It pretty much combined all the best features of my two favorite genres of games, with the team objective based gameplay of a multiplayer FPS and the number crunching, stat tweaking, build developing goodness of a nice RPG. It was also fairly balanced for most of the time I played, with a pretty good variety of viable builds to choose from and an evolving metagame helped along by regional preferences. Sure, you had the usual community bullshit and bickering, but that happens in just about every competitive online game and was easily ignored.
I stopped playing a couple months after factions came out (curse you real life!), but still purchased Nightfall and EotN even though I haven't logged on in over six months.
On Gaile, I appreciate that she was at least willing to engage the community (even though it was her job, I guess), but she really had absolutely no clue where the PvP players were coming from and that showed in her attitude and decisions. Not to mention that all of her e-stalkers were fucking creepy and Izzy was a thousand times cooler and more knowledgeable anyway.
EDIT: To be fair, some of the PvP crowd was pretty vile (just needless cursing, harassing posts/e-mails/in game whispers and other stupidity) in their dealings with Gaile, and I could easily see why she wanted nothing to do with them.
There's a GW thread in the MMO subforum. I still log on and do miscellaneous things, but other games (MMOs mainly) have kept me from completing all the GW missions. I'm also not a big fan of rep grinds, which EotN has a lot of.
I think I've said this before (maybe in this very thread) but you couldn't have paid me enough to do Gaile Gray's job. What a terrible position to be in, especially since some of the PVP community can indeed be needlessly vicious. She made some serious mistakes, but the vitriol against her (and against Izzy, which continues) was nasty.

I remember the Gaile grey going away party when all we got was a talking frog and a rabbit when Gaile was supposed to be in that district. One guy shouted "Unfortunately Gaile has laryngitis and a bad back, so she won't be saying anything or doing anything". I laff'd.

i'm not sure how i feel about gw2, i think a little bit more polish and plat pvp rewards would have gone a long way to motivate people to play gw and it's expansions
When GW2 drops we need to make it our first priority as a clan to find the successor to the Spirit Fag technique, and then exploit it such that a year or so later we make GotW again.

Brand new Silver eagle armor that I just got right now.
But yea anyway im up for some hot EOTN dungeon action. MAYBE hard mode. Thats reaching though.
Any recommended builds for a Monk/Necro?
Now that you mention it, Martyr + plauge touch would be a rather nifty combo, but im not big on Monk builds.

Even then, /E with Glyph of Lesser Energy is insane energy management
I love my R/E with the Conjure [element]/Glass Arrows combination. I have arrows that hit for 100+ damage.

I love this game, it's a great story, and I think when I get to the EotN stuff it will provide a lot of dungeon crawling to get some good loot.
But I guess those here aren't playing it anymore...
She's the community manager.
