Are the comics down?

I just went to view the comic strips, and none of them work. Is anyone else having this problem? (I scanned the first 2 pages, no mention of it...at least in the topic).

The first time I went on tonight they didn't show up, but then when I rechecked it was fine. Just check again.

I tried the penis thing, but it didn't work....

Should I have turned off the computer before doing it? I figured if I left it on it would hurt. Maybe I should try with it on. Let me do that now.

Ouch, I was right. But the comics still aren't working. Wieeerdd. Oh well, if noone else is having the problem, i'll assume its me..

Someone please try clearing your cache and seeing if you can view the comics.

Anything recent (Post Feb.) doesn't appear to be working.

It would be considered a 'stupid topic' because it was in the wrong location. And that's the only reason it's shat upon. People here wait for the other people to make the slightest mistakes and then jump all over them once they do. It's just how it goes. :|

I think that they both contribute equally. And they both have the same opinions of each other. They think each other are idiots. It's quite silly.

Images are becoming broken at random for me too, though this happens on GR some too so I assumed I was the problem.... however, it happens a lot more at PA. Also, photobucket is being a dick about showing images, but I wonder how much of PA that place accounts for.

I didn't have a problem untill the comic Ad Infinitum. First it wouldn't show at all, then I try a little while later and it works. So I decide that I am gonna show my brother the comic, and after alot of refreshing and rightclick + show picture, I still get a box with a x

Sounds vaguely plausible as I can't think of any legitimate reason I'd have been blacklisted (the only thing I ever do with the site is look at the latest comic and occasionally read the news, no spidering to grab all the comics, RSS feed or anysuch) and if I try to go to just the latest comic URL (http://www.penny-arcade.com/images/2004/20040927l.jpg) I get "403 Forbidden").

I heard a rumor that PA is banning certain addresses from viewing comics. I'm blocked at home and blocked from my college.

If this is indeed the case, is there an email I can send to appeal the ban or request an exception?

Yes, I cleared my cache at home (the one at the college never had a cache, everything is reverted at midnight or next reboot), and spyware is nonexistant on both systems (and I ignored the "penis in the PSU" comment).

So, from where I'm sitting, there may be some truth to this banning rumor.

Could someone within the PA administration clarify this?

If you really want a response, email a staff member. The frequency with which they read the forums varies wildly, but the average seems to be "rarely."

It seems like it's an intermittent problem at Homelan that is being examined. PA is definitely not blocking anyone from viewing the comic.

I'm a developer for the site and I dont know anything about this. I do know that a goofy homelan server was screwing with the file permissions and would not display the files in images/2004/ past a certain date. I thought I had resolved that issue (that and a bunch of random things have kept me mostly on the development side of things for the past few days). I will look again. Also, HomeLAN (AFAIK) is having some generic DNS issues. Your ISP needs to refresh their DNS list, this will happen automatically within a week or so. In the mean time you can edit your HOSTS file to direct all www.penny-arcade.com traffic to 38.113.222.9

HomeLAN (once they got the email) was very responsive and fixed the misconfigured servers. The issue should not occur anymore.
