You're poking the bear...Animal Boxing

I'm not sure what to think of this game. Turning the DS upside down, so you can punch the characters in the face seems new, and there is this character...

From IGN... "Gammick is a new publisher in Spain with a fistful of DS games set for worldwide release this fall. Among them is Animal Boxing, a bestial fighter that is set to turn the DS community on its head.

The Animal Village is a peaceful community where cats, dogs, apes, and alligators live in harmony -- until a new boxing gym is opened and the beasts remember their feral instincts. But boxing animals isn't the only trick this game has up its sleeve: to play, you turn the DS upside down so you can use the stylus to poke your opponent's face. Gammick calls it the "SD" system.

Not much to go on, but it may be fun...of course it may be CRAP.

Here's Gammick's site- http://www.gammickentertainment.com/

Kotaku- http://kotaku.com/5022883/animal-boxing-lets-you-punch-a-cat-right-in-the-face

If the animations are good, the sound/music is decent, and it has global wi-fi I may get it...what about you?

From Spanish developer Gammick Entertainment, slated for a 4th quarter 2008 release.

This should be a bonus mode in Animal Crossing.

Nook would totally be the final boss. And he would wipe the floor with you, using his money-filled boxing gloves.

I'm guessing you punch with your stylus, so you have to turn it over to rampage on the other animal's head.

Sorry, maybe I'm retarded, but does it try to imply that turning the DS upside down allows you to punch the head or that at some point triggered either voluntarily or involuntarily you have to turn it upside down to regain correct orientation?

Because I'm pretty sure the DS doesn't know how you're holding it.

The bottom screen is touch-based. You are punching the target in the head via touching. Therefore, they flip the DS upside down so that the touchscreen is at the top.

That's what it would look like if you were playing it with the DS in the regular position. The whole game is probably designed to be played upside down, as the DS doesn't have an accelorometerthing (the one in iPods).

I can see potential for some interesting mini games, though, if the screens kept switching and you had to keep rotating the DS. Sounds like a good Warioware gimmick.

The only downside: you can't punch the animals in their various reproductive organs.

That's pretty much the downside to every game I play.
