I'm probably the only person on PA who thinks this, but I'm really looking forward to that "Rainy Woods" survival horror game. Yeah, it looks like a giant ripoff of Twin Peaks, but I can think of worse inspirations.

The Prison in HL2 is my limit in scary gaming.
Seriously though, play Project Zero. Scared the crap out of me but it was soooo awesome.

It really felt like they were - finally - trying to break free of the JRPG mold and really deal with the characters, their motivations and interactions, in a semi-adult way. There was a lot of retarded baggage (don't open this random chest in the second dungeon if you want the endgame uber-weapon!) and the story ran out of gas about 3/4 of the way through, but it was a really cool effort and I'm scared that they're going to go back to more familiar ground for XIII.

I've been browsing without avatars/sigs since I started posting from work. Your reliance on tiny pictures has made you weak.
Mostly just makes it quicker, because I don't have to actually read the name. I can keep my eyes focused on the text and just catch the "who it was" out of the corner of my eye.

Man, 7 was great for the time, but i don't think it would hold up AT ALL. 10 was totally Meh, and 12 was fucking fantastic.
I tried to play the first one they remade on DS (3 i think?) and couldn't get past the first 20 minutes.
VII is still my favorite to return to if I need a nostalgia fix. I don't know how it would hold up for someone who's using it as a springboard into the genre/series, but for me it's still a very solid experience.
IX gets no love though. I loved IX, even if the last act was a little rushed (Square games always are...).

IV is my all time favorite. I liked that it had mostly angst-free characters and didn't overstay its welcome.

And I'll probably pick up XIII at some point, once I get and play Eternal Sonata, Lost Odyssey, and Fallout 3.
