Hi, I saw that my local comic shop recently got in Scud: The Whole Shebang which apparently collects the entire run on this comic. I've always heard of Scud, but have never read it and am interested.
What's it about? How is it? Is the Whole Shebang volume worth getting?
Oh shit, I gotta pick this up. I love Scud, though I didn't find it until after it was already done, so I wasn't able to find all the issues for a reasonable price.
I'm having a hard time deciding whether or not to buy the Whole Shebang, since my familiarity with the character is nil. It seems funny enough when I skim through, but I don't know if the narrative will hold up over that many pages.
Well, if you're looking for a cohesive, coherent, plot driven narrative, well there's not one. Really it's just lots of zaniness and weird shit happening. You really have to love the absurd to enjoy it.
We talking Dr. McNinja level absurdity? Or higher?
at one point scud (a robot) loses his arm, so he temporarily replaces it with a human one while waiting for a factory replacement. or at least, he thinks it's human. turns out it's actually a werewolf arm and during the full moon it wolfs out, taking over scud's mind and causing him to quote shakespeare.

Amazon says it doesn't come out until August 6th, but they then price it at only $20 for the paperback. I will most definitely acquire this, I've been interested in the character but never picked anything up before.

Now they just need to collect the spinoffs.

I do believe I'm going to have to buy this.
It's actually odd you compare it to Dr. McNinja, because both of them involve Ben Franklin, but in SCUD he's a voodoo priest.
That's it, I'm buying this.
amazon doesn't get trades until like two weeks after they come out normally for some reason

I ask because apparently the msrp for it is 100 bucks, down to 62 on amazon.
They had a sealed copy at Newbury Comics.
It just looked like the same book, but in a hardcover.

I usually like to get hardcovers if I can, but....meh.
