Whats so great about the bandoleer of carrots? Is there ever anything good in them?

    it is a mystery

people have reported getting 60" HDTVs from them, though.

so yes, sometimes there are good things in them

waiting around for 2 days obsessively watching for it to come up is a stupid waste of time, but if you're buying other stuff, the scramble when it happens is sort of fun

It's not that mysterious. bagsofcrap.com lets people log what they get. It's always more than the $3 it costs to buy, but it's entirely random. Printers are common, accessories to more popular items are common (such as memory card holders), cables and headsets of various stripes are common.

It's not worthwhile to hold out for on the off chance you might win big. But it's pretty fun to try ;D

    Dayyyyyyumn.

Mostly worthless stuff. I got a folding pen, a pack of electric shock playing cards, 2 wireless head sets for the original Xbox (I got this about 6 months ago), and a sub-wal-mart backpack.

Basically it's a raffle ticket. But you don't know what the big prize is, or if there even is one. I don't think they give out TVs or Wiis every woot-off.

I would love to have electric shock playing cards.

I almost bought the head set, but I couldn't get woot.com to load before it sold out (I'm watching bagsofcrap.com tracker) to see if it had a car charger.

Thats very discouraging. Do they ever have these in the middle of the night or something, when maybe less people are watching?

It's random, they can happen at any time. So really it's like playing the lottery that your page will refresh first when the new page is uploaded showing the BoC, and that you will be watching the woot page, and have already logged in and entered your payment information, and can click buy before anyone else does.

I don't think they usually send out too many, plus everyone always orders 3 because just in case it's a TV, they could get 3 of them.

According to bagsofcrap.com, they've sent out a 61" HDTV once, and a 32" LCD HDTV once. And then some other 30ish" TVs once or twice. Otherwise, it really is random crap.

I would rather build my own HTPC for less. and then run that mythtv on it.

    *Edit*

The blu-ray player takes the sting out of it. Recertified still kinda stinks and I wonder how the software is but its clearly too rich for my blood.

Oh, I didn't even notice it was a PC. I had somehow just written it off as a fancy schmancy DVD player and nothing more. Maybe I should get one... I mean, I don't have a TV right now and just have a computer and was thinking of doing a TV-tuner set-up, but I wanted a Blu-Ray player a'la PS3. But just wasn't ready to sink the money in.

    Mmm....nah.

From what I can tell on the net, it used to run for something like $3,300. Most places you could find it slightly discounted after a while to $2,700. Woot had it two weeks ago posted for $1000.

If I had the money and was looking into it, I'd possibly get it. Seems decent enough for the price. Though I've never priced a BR burner alone.

EDIT: Holy moly. Sonystyle has a PC BD burner for $600 alone.

That only reads Blu-Rays. Burners are a good bit more expensive.

edit: I'm just saying that the thing's specs without the burner are in line with a $600-$700 computer already, and since BR burners are like $250-$300, it turns into a fairly good deal.

Best part: wouldn't need a whole new expensive player for higher resolutions, just distribute movies on a larger flash stick.
