My mom has panic attacks. Let me tell you...the person on the other side nearly has a panic attack themselves.

Having been on the viewing end of one terrifying panic attack, I can say yes, yes this is entirely, completely, !00% true.

It is a horrible thing to be close to.

Hey you! So are you excited about the next few days?
You are going to do awesome!

Man. . . Not really the right quote to be responding to there. :P

if we just drive for 12 hours a day, four days

but that's pretty grueling, plus we'd want to take some touristy detours, so probably more like six

holy crap that is a long time to be on the road

    time is money, friend

damn I never really got into road trips

not because I can't drive, but more because I don't think I could stand just sitting in a car for that long

as it is the ride from San Fran to Seattle with Kusu and Pipe will prove grueling, not because of the company, but because of how loooooong it takes

depends on the method; I am gonna have to sell all my furniture I think for sure

if we rent a car and drive then I can jam pack the car full of my stuff, and I can probably get almost everything I really need that way, and ship whatever else is not gonna work

if we fly I have to ship everything, but it's faster and possibly the most cost-efficient solution

(we've been extremely verbose about all of the options; we have a spreadsheet)

yeah that's something I've taken into consideration -- also the fact that I'll be paying rent on an apartment I haven't yet moved into

flying just sounds smartest but shipping everything makes me nervous

yeah I've seen my entire life packed and unpacked and repacked into boxes so many times I can tell you this much

unless you get professional packers ($$$), anything particularly fragile, even furniture, might break

hell we DID get professional packers once and one my mother's favorite wooden chair sets (antique Chinese design) came out broken

books, clothes, DVDs, stackables, etc nothing to worry about

your 360 can go back into its original box or, barring that, bubble wrap on all sides

since you're shipping domestic nothing's going to get lost, probably just delayed

hell my dad and I have been trying to "lose" this hideous ornament my mom insists on shipping across all the seas and oceans we've been across

MAKES ITS WAY TO US ONE WAY OR ANOTHER

take the stuff that is most important to you and mail it separately (USPS, UPS, etc) so that you know it's being taken care of and can be tracked and will get to you in a timely fashion

    ship everything else

meissnerd you don't want my tv

besides I am not hauling it to seattle, it weighs at least 200 pounds and I am taking the train

viv, all good points, but luckily I'm not bringing anything fragile -- the only things I'm really concerned about are my bass and my brother's electric guitars and my PC, piece of shit that it is

my macbook will probably not be gifted to me, sadly

if you're REALLY concerned about the guitars, you can always have them couriered

maybe not the PC so much... my experience is DEFINITELY TAKE GOOD CARE OF IT WHEN YOU ARE SHIPPING IT, especially if you built it yourself... one of the racks in my case broke off during shipping and as a result my DVD burner fell back into the case and messed up a bunch of stuff

but this should not be a problem with a store-bought PC
