Un-Jailed BBCode Still Borked

LaOsLaOs SaskatoonRegistered User regular
I don't know if this is a problem, and I don't know if it's even new. Basically, it's just something I've noticed today.

I know that when folks are jailed, their BBCode goes to shit. That's fine; it makes for some awkward reading sometimes, especially if they're using quotetrees, but it's tolerable. What I've noticed though is that after they become un-jailed, their BBCode that was borked is still borked. It seems that way, anyway. I've noticed a few instances where quotes remained screwed up, even though the person did not have a jailed Avatar and the Code looked correct to me. I can get screenshots if you want, tomorrow. There's an example in H/A right now - the Aquarium thread's poster must have been jailed when he created the thread, and his img he tried to link didn't work. That's to be expected, but now his avatar isn't the Jailed one, and the img is still borked.

Is this really a problem? Is it not supposed to fix itself? Or is it just me?

I run XP SP1 and have the latest Firefox I think.

No, this is just how it works. When a person is jailed they have their BBCode disabled. It's the same as checking the "Disable BBCode in this post" checkbox below the text entry screen when you make a thread or post a reply. To fix their BBCode they'd have to go back and edit those posts and uncheck that box.

It would be knid of silly for it to fix itself as well, especially if the person had been jailed for posting a naughty picture or something.

One would imagine that a mod would have edited out the image in the meanitem.

    Exactly.

However, thanks for the replies. I didn't know if that's how it worked or if it was supposed to fix itself. Thanks.

That doesn't always happen. I know of some mods who condsider that the situation is fixed once the person is jailed.

Besides, it is a punishment for them that people don't want to read their posts.

Can deputies edit the posts of jailed users?

    If not, there you go.

I believe they can edit the posts of ONLY jailed users. Or maybe it's users they've jailed.

Mods need this power too. Last I checked I can't edit out a jailed user's remarks.

Easier than the ole cross mod.

Oh, ok. I kinda assumed that if, say, someone posted goatse, the image link would be removed as well as jailing/whatever. Oh well.

[edit] I mean, if someone didn't know what it was, they might quote it, which wouldn't be great.
